Golden Boy Promotions has all but closed the deal for a bout between 21-year-old WBC junior middleweight beltholder Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and 31-year-old former two-time welterweight beltholder Kermit Cintron in an HBO slot on Nov. 26, according to the source familiar with the negotiations.
No site has been settled upon for the matchup between Alvarez (38-0-1, 28 KOs) and Cintron (33-4-1, 28 KOs), although it is a "Definite for somewhere in Mexico and it should be signed today," according to the source.
Alvarez is coming off last month's sixth-round knockout of Alfonso Gomez (23-5-1, 12 KOs).
A former two-time welterweight beltholder, Cintron has battled to a disputed draw with southpaw RING middleweight titleholder Sergio Martinez (48-2-2, 27 KOs), been stopped twice by ex-beltholder Antonio Margarito (38-7, 27 KOs) and lost a controversial decision to southpaw former three-time beltholder Paul Williams (39-2, 27 KOs).
The hard-hitting Cintron is coming off of 10-round unanimous decision over Antwone Smith (20-3-1, 12 KOs) in August that helped him to rebound from a 10-round unanimous decision loss to Carlos Molina (19-4-2, 6 KOs) in July.

Big step up for canelo.Cintron only lost to molina who is a damn good
fighter imo.Molina tapped laras azz.
IMO canelo is a fraud that is hiding behind GBP and televisa, Cintron is done as a pro boxer and just get a day job or go MMA, after all he was a wrestler and Lara will tap that canelo's a$$ 100 times out 100, and if he face molina again it will b an ugly beating for Carlos, as it is right now Lara is the man to beat at 154.
cintron is shot, this is the only reason that golden b!tch is even considering this fight. Another easy victory for the mexicunt ginger, when is this guy gonna man up and fight real competition I think it's safe to say that he is a paper champion.well if he beats cintron and jcc jr. he does deserve some credit. if he loses ,he loses the paper title along with the loss anyway. JOSE SULAIMAN TO THE RESCUE!! :p
He said he will keep on trying to learn this move.
i understand a boxer's interest in improving their toolkit, but that shoulder roll is not useful on a guy like canelo. he would have beaten gomez in 3 rounds if he wasn't practicing that move. i hope he knows what he's doing.
you mean that pathetic excuse for shoulder rolling he was practicing against gomez? he better not do this against cintron. canelo should pressure.

Canelo last two fights makes it seem hes trying to improve
his defence.you mean that pathetic excuse for shoulder rolling he was practicing against gomez? he better not do this against cintron. canelo should pressure.
Once the fight doesn't go in Kermit's way he folds along the dotted line.
Canelo's pressure and youth should overcome Kermit.
Don't know where Kermit's punching power has gone cause he looks lately like he is pushing his punches out. He has a small punchers chance to win
I'm curious to see if canelo will take the fight to cintron or just try to
outbox him.Canelo last two fights makes it seem hes trying to improve
his defence. This is a very intriguing fight imo.

this is most definitely a step up for 'nelo. a very dangerous opponent. will see if cintron still has some pop in that right and if nelo is able to take it.
man canelo fighting a shot cintron? the guy seems to have lost a lot of power in his recent fights. pretty sure they are just making this a show knowing cintron to be a minor.threat (still better that some of his recent fights though).
why is canelo not.fighting jcc jr.? i thought tr-gbp feud was over... same old story.
They're planning on fighting on March 2012. At least that's what is being reported.
Anyways I like this fight for Canelo unlike the Matthew Hatton and Alfonso Gomez fights which really irritated me when they were first announced. These were the type of fights he was supposed to fight in, not against small welterweights.
Good fight for Canelo, but it's ashame that he's a world champion. He's taking pretty competitive fights for a guy his age and I like the direction he's going, but these are the steps you take before becoming a world champ, not after.
I got Canelo by UD in a Rhodes-like fight.
nice post.

Cintron is just a name oponent. Martinez beat his a$$ and got the draw for it, Margarito (loaded gloves I don't know and don't care its in the past) beat him twice and Molina beat him.

No doubt man, it almost takes the fun out of watching him grow and work his way to a championship. It's like there was no road or journey that I can attach myself to - he just fights Hatton and bam he has the belt....no drama really, nothing. I will continue to root for him though and hopes everything catches up to him, that he stays champion long enough, and beats enough world class guys to vindicate them handing him at this young point in his career.

Being lined up to face @caneloOficial in late November or December? Kermit Cintron. #boxing
Well, if Alvarez fights the way he did against Gomez... this could be one hell of a snoozer and Cintron jabbing and running for a win...
But in his last fights he couldn't even do that so I expect Alvarez to win a decision

I like Kermit but he's done, he just can't seem to put a run together of good results. I have to agree with one of the above posters, Canelo is fighting washed up or smaller fighters, if you don't think he's ready for top competition (Angulo etc) then he shouldn't be a 'World' Champion. The WBC is the the worst organisation.
kermit's still dangerous. put canelo in there with molina and i BET that's ginger's 0. canelo should still take this, though, but kermie get's up for big fights.
