Theres always some commotion about boxers who would go UFC would get their asses beat i.e Toney. I know theres other well known boxers who have crossed over but can't remember atm.
My question is, that if theres ever been a well known MMA fighters that have been in a live boxing matches as of late?
I don't kow but the reverse, I do know something about. Toney isn't the only one. Well known bigger boxers have historically turned to occasionally matching agaimst wrestlers. One famous example is Koe Louis. Sometime in the mid '50's he became a wrestler, for about a year. I remember reading about his first match, refereed by Jersey Joe Walcott against aI think a much bigger man. Can't remember if he won, presume he did because he conined on for a while. He was broke, and did it for the money.
Sorry for typos also the Computer sent before i intended. Wanted to add that Muhammed Ali also had a few matchups against well known wrestlers towards the end of his career. I'm sure they were all faked, as wrestling always is. I know that it was quite common but never included in any resume, only in a well written biography.
Just to digress for a moment, about wresting........ At one time, during the days of Frank Gotch and the Great Gama, wrestling was on the level. Gotch and Hackenschmidt wrestled for over 2 hours before it was over. The Great Gama came from India and wrestled Stanley Zbyszko for over 4 hours, to a draw. I don't exactly know when wrestling became a carnival show.

Art Jimmerson is the reason why boxers haven't made an easy transition into the MMA.

Toney just proved why boxing alone will not necessarily make anyone successful in MMA unless you develop other attributes and skills.
Good point. I guess established fighters is what I meant.
I just dont care much for UFC or any other MMA type of event. Years ago before UFC made it into the limelight I thought to myself "Ok, heres a sport that will show what fighting style is supreme" but in the ends its all the same. Guys just dry humping eachother on the floor. I know I know...For some people ( people into BJJ) they love that stuff. They get it. It's just plain boring to me.
Exactly what I was reffering to with boxers' lack of respect of other arts. Guys that are jiujitsu and wrestling world champions know the vital importance of boxing and kickboxing if theyre gonna step into a cage and they know its something they have to improve at if theyre gonna be a contender. Boxers on the other hand don't seem to feel the need to adjust. Whether it be because of homophobia or otherwise.
I don't watch UFC at all , but still have great respect for people like the Gracie family. I respect MMA as it is, I just don't enjoy watching it as much as Boxing.
Although I wished Boxing could learn a few things from how UFC works.
This is the most accurate statement that's ever been said in any conversation comparing MMA to Boxing. Well said good Sir.
No, The problem is that MMA fighters have mediocre boxing skillsets, THey are barely onestep above a guy on the street. They swing for the fences. The also get hit flush because none of them know how to role a punch or effectively use defense, they dive for the other opponents legs when their hurt. Truth is mma is a bunch of wrestlers, and jujitsu guys with okay hand skills. Boxing is the type of sport where you could literally train your ass off and get in the ring and get annihilated by the other guy. With MMA you can become decent in a short period of time.
I would just really love to see someone established in MMA cross over to Boxing.
GSP vs WARD!
I don't think it'll ever happen. They train and learn to fight on their feet and on the ground. Jumping into a sport where you're limited just doesn't seem like it would work out for something whose trained many years to fight in different ways. Only people I can see is Heavyweights, just because the divsion in boxing is dead. Then again, not sure if they can handle standing up that long and getting hit.
No, and I think there is none because they know they wouldn't make it.

Nick Diaz was recently trying to start a boxing career and Their was even a youtube video of him sparring but he didn't look too good and i guess that's where his boxing career ended.
None that I know of and if they did it was against garbage no-name boxers with losing records. MMA fighters have no chance in a boxing ring against against a good boxer period. Boxing to MMA is like comparing someone with a PhD in a specific discipline to someone who has Associates degrees in 5 different subject areas. One is a highly skilled sport with focus on dedication to a specific skillset, the other is a sport with focus on just winning by any means necessary. MMA is almost like "jack of all trades but master of none" in a way. MMA is the only sport where some guy can walk into it, never having been in an MMA match (or the sport at all) and actually win a title basically or win matches (Brock Lesnar, Herschel Walker, random various football players). Imagine if Brock tried to get in the ring with Vitali or Lennox of Wlad LOL forget it. If any one of them got in a boxing ring at that level, they would be brutalized. MMA fighters do not have the boxing skill nor punch resistance that boxers have. It is no accident that in 90% of the fights in MMA, if someone gets caught with 1 clean punch, they get dropped or KOed. Remember 80-90% of MMA fighters are life-long wrestlers or jiu jitsu guys, so that is why they are in MMA. I respect their talent but people in MMA always have a way out, when in doubt or getting their ass beat on their feet, just tackle the guy and lay on top of him. Gravity is what gives them an edge in their sport, its all it is. I grew up in a rough town and when we fought or anyone fought, the guy who tackled you or tried to choke you or use a headlock was called a ***** and did it because he was losing. So the whole concept of "ground game" or "choking out" an opponent...just translates into ***** antics for me lol.

Im pretty sure its not quite the answer you want but kimbo slice recently crossed over and is like 2-0 as a heavyweight boxer.
The only reason boxers crossing over to mma is a big deal is because of the general lack of respect they have for other fighting arts. Otherwise it wouldnt even be allowed in good conscience because the mma fighter would just have too big of an arsenal at his disposal that would leave the boxer helpless and defenseless.

Alessio Sakara
Nick Diaz
KJ Noons
Anderson Silva
Marcus Davis (20-1-2 record)
Those are just the ones I know for sure. But if you meant established guys who then went to boxing. I don't know.

as of late, I dont recall anyone. There are too many rules in boxing for most MMA fighters to have a realistic chance of winning.
I'd love to see GSP vs. Ward Hahaha.
