No doubt.
He'd stop 2 of the 3, if not all of them. I think a lot of people forget how brutal Tommy Hearns was at 147, he was fast as hell, had a great jab, very, very powerful and had a decent chin, contrary to what a lot of people think.
Hearns was PWill with a great jab and one punch KO power...he gives everybody the bizness!! Jr and prime Mosley(Jr has the best chance tho) would fair better IMO but still lose...I'm basing this on the height and ridiculously long powerful jab!!!
1) Don't insult me.
2) When I say, "would give him the most trouble," - I'm saying that Cotto would last more rounds than the others, not win the fight. Emmanuel Steward said the same thing in an interview a few years ago when asked this very same question. Who trained Thomas Hearns? Emmanuel Steward.
3) Thomas Hearns is my favorite fighter, not Cotto.
HELL YES!!! AND ALL BY KO!!! I'm not gonna say he'd be undefeated the whole time, but Floyd, Pac, and Cotto would all get massacred... Floyd being his toughest fight becuz he's not afraid to run
(Cotto's technically not afraid to run, but he's not as good at it)
Manny would get dropped early becuz he has no defense and Hearns hit like a mini-Foreman
As long as you didn't call me names & say I'm crazy, we'll agree to disagree on that bro. Like I said, I still think Hearns walk the bunch, but i'll give any of those guys a better chance than the rest.
Nah, of course not. I can understand where you're coming from in a way, but I think there is a big difference between volume punching and actual skill on the inside. Hearns' skill, when he chose to use it, on the inside makes Williams look like an amateur.
They both had their strengths and Hearn's was obviously on the outside more, but when he chose to fight inside he was as brutal as they come. This is a short, but good example against a very good fighter.
Yes....Floyd could give him some trouble but I still would favor Hearns...Cotto would be turnt to ground beef and Pac would never go up to 147 if Hearns was around...
This right here.
You people Forgot that the 147 + lbs Duran has a lot loses. Duran's the Greatest 135 pounder but he's not that good & durable as Pac at 147.
The 147 lbs Hearns was a skinny, young, Chinny Fighter. Cotto & DLH could trouble him. 147 Pac will Punish him, One straight Left to the Chin will Left Hearns in the Defensive! People Forgot that Pac's Chin from 126 & Up & away were pure Granite!
Dont Adore these Old ATG that Much! Check their whole resume! Pac's is the Greater ATGs than most of them now!
I was going to answer, but then I realised you're one of 'those'.
The rest I can dig, but there you are completely and utterly 100% flat out wrong. Hearns was a great inside fighter and better than Williams. People forget that about him all the time because he didn't choose to do it much at all, but he had shorter hooks, greater body punching, and better set up angles and sight than Williams could dream of.
Just throwing lots of punches without defense on the inside because you don't know how to use your height doesn't mean he's a good inside fighter. Hearns was a good inside fighter. He had great sight and slid on the angles to get in those brutal body shots.
You never saw it much early in his career because he still had the legs, but a bit like Roy Jones today, the later in his career it got the more you saw just how much more skilled he was inside than the 'inside' fighters he was fighting. He'd block shots, set them up for perfect body shots and slip them in short and sweet. Great stuff.

At 147 i'd give the edge to hearns over anyone active of over the past 15 years. But there are a couple that i think would make the fight close. Oscar gives him the toughest fight. He was also a big welterweight. IMO he closest resembled SRL im terms of body size & relative power.
Then I'd go with Forrest. Because he overall may have had the best skillset to size ratio of any ww within the last 15 years. He also had good power too.
Then i'd give the Punisher a 3rd closest chance. Because Hearns wouldn't be punching down to him. The Punisher is a better inside fighter than Hearns, he had the chin & stamina at ww to compete.
I'd follow him with Tito & Cintron. Tito for his power & stamina. Cintron for his size, skill & power. I still think Hearns would have at least a 60% chance of beating them. But these are the closest fighters to coming away with a w, imo.

Of course. There isn't the slightest doubt in my mind that Hearns beats everyone easily from 147 - 160 today. Tommy Hearns was a different beast altogether than the guys going around today and there certainly isn't a Ray Leonard or Hagler to stop him from literally destroying everyone in the divisions.
People forget just how much of a scary, true beast of a fighter he was at 147, 154 and 160. Without just those two ATG fighters, Leonard and Hagler, he was indestructible until past his best and neither Pac, Cotto or Mayweather have what it takes to do anything to him, but Hearns has everything plus more to destroy those guys, outbox them, brawl them...whichever way it went, Hearns beats them at their own game or his, depending on if he is feeling nasty or bored.
Edit: Oh, and people saying Pac has the power and blah blah to knock Hearns out and make it a war are ****ing tools. Of all of them, Pac gets blasted out quickest. As good as he is against someone like Margarito, Margarito's body shots are slow, and weak compared to Hearns and Hearns is easily as fast as Pac at 147 and Pac gets hit. If you get hit by Hearns, and Pac doesn't have the chin to equal Duran at all, you go. Hearns has a foot in reach over. Literally a foot. Like he did against Duran. Duran's defense and chin are greater than Pac's. But, the biggest thing here is that unlike so many guys today, Hearns uses his height and reach unlike few ever have. He doesn't reach. He doesn't throw and then fall in like so many fighters today. He keeps his full range and distance perfectly. It's why taller, faster, greater fighters than Pac had so much trouble reaching Hearns. He was one scary dude.

Maybe a little bit, but he'd still get butchered. Probably stopped on his feet. Real good chin at the very least.
What's fascinating about Hearns is the amount of guys he stopped, or hurt/dropped, who otherwise had great chins. Duran, Leonard, Hagler (still the only time Hagler's ever been wobbled), Roldan, Muangsurin....
He was laying Pac/Hatton-like one punch knock outs on hard guys from 147 to 200 pounds.

The only one with a chance is Mayweather. Anyone who think he doesnt cause Hearns any problems at all is a fool. Mayweather is not an easy fight for any ATG WW. Period.
If there was ever a fighter who beats Mayweather with ease, it's Hearns and he would. He really would. That right hand that Mosley landed....if that was Hearns' right it would have knocked him spark out. I'm not actually saying he would beat him with ease as such (not like a bum vs ATG), but he wins a clear, comfortable UD.
Hearns has the reach, speed, power, movement, jab and everything to beat Floyd without Floyd really being able to do very much about it at all.
If you can explain one way Mayweather can beat Hearns that makes sense and that Floyd has actually done before....I'll say it's a very slight possibility. Until then, Hearns really does beat Floyd all day.
Edit: But, before you just say something silly, which so many Floyd fans do, like "Oh, he just adjusts and counters Hearns' jab which makes him stop throwing it like Oscar did. He then counters the right hand which makes him stop throwing that and then just outboxes him".
The only way Floyd wins is inside.....how does he get inside of Tommy Hearns? He doesn't. That's why he can't win.
Do you think he beats Manny, Floyd and Cotto?
