In interview roy jones said that he is leaning towards retirement but before he makes his decision he wants to talk to an unnamed trainer to see if he can help him. He says if the trainer wants to join his training camp and help then he will continue fighting. Who is this person? His Dad?
he's shot no doubt about it but you telling me he can't beat absolutely no one? I agree his recent losses have been brutal to a point where I was damn near heart broken but I also realize that since the losses started aside from bouncing back and fourth to his father he trained generally with Merk, meaning he really wasn't doing nothing different in the Green, Hopkins and Lebedev fights he was basically just doing sorta what Cotto did after the split from Evangelista and coming with what he knew and last time out he wasn't even in tip top shape
imagine a fighter like Roy with a brand new trainer teaching him better things? that's worth another shot. Roy's last 2 KO losses came from the Cruiserweight division which is a division that Roy has no place in, in Light Heavyweight or even catch weights with some of the Super Middleweight's Roy could probably still be Roy. he doesn't need to go after a killer puncher he could even fight Jermain Taylor or something like that which is still a good solid win for any fighter and Taylor has gone up to Light Heavyweight before
to each is own though, that's your opinion and I respect it
In my heart, I don't think Steward can tweak Cotto enough to make him a much better fighter. Steward can make small adjustments, but not something incredibly different that deviates from Cotto's usual style.
The same goes for Roy. In fact, this case is more severe. The fact that Roy has been around for much longer than Cotto and has NEVER really fought intelligently (hands down, moving back) means that once his speed is gone, he is at a severe handicap. At this point, Roy can't change. He fights with his right hand up as if trying to distract his opponent and toss that quick viper straight but he can't even do that anymore, not at this stage.
It's not only his speed that's gone, it's his chin. If the trainer takes him, he's not going to change drastically. To be honest, Roy winning hinges MUCH MORE UPON SELECTING A WEAK FIGHTER THAN TRYING TO CHANGE HIS STYLE OR ADJUSTING IT.
naw its over..i dont need anymore proof to know hes shot to sh1t.......

been a fan of roy since i was in school..its sad to see him like this..hes like the real life superman..went from flying and looking invicible now hes trying to end up in a wheelchair...is he in need of money this bad?????
After his fight with Doomsday, I believe Superman no longer had his powers anymore. I'm not too sure about that, I think i'm right. But anyways, I guess you can call Jones-Tarver I, Superman vs Doomsday. Doomsday is a one hit wonder in which he only beat Superman as his real big name, and Tarver's biggest name is Roy Jones. Superman beat Doomsday, but died in the process, Doomsday also died but came back to life because he can not die. Tarver is still fighting in to his 40s, seems like he does not age and is never gonna die! :lol1:
honestly Larry I felt the same exact way and then another feeling comes over me that maybe it isn't over for Roy but then I clash and think he should retire again, I been going back and fourth in my head about this ever since the Lebedev KO, 1 day I'm 110% for Roy to retire and the next I'm 110% for Roy to give it one more go as a Light Heavyweight or Super Middleweight and just completely revamp his whole entire team
I always thought Roy Jones Jr's pride was his downfall, the fact that he listened so much to the people an the media and allowed it to affect his decision making, almost as if he incorporated the media and the fans in making his career choices, this is why I think he picked Lebedev of all people to fight, someone who is tough and if he beat him then people can't talk sh1t like they always do
I think if Roy really DOES change up his trainer, his camp, his regiment and overall pushes himself to his absolute maximum he can come back and beat at least 1 more notable name and I think that is all Roy wants, he wants to go out a winner and honestly there are a lot of guys even now that Roy can beat, he just needs to be a better match maker for himself and choose fighters whose style benefits his style
he does these things and he has 110% my support and forward expectations, if he doesn't then he really needs to retire, it's possible but he needs to realize this himself not me, a member of a Boxing message board but him as a fighter. the possibility is there it just all depends on Roynaw its over..i dont need anymore proof to know hes shot to sh1t.......
fukk That retire roy..its over man..its over..nothing can help you besides walking away from the sport..i cant even think of a safe fight for you anymore..you cant take punches, your legs are shot to sh1t and your reflexes are gone..you looked terrible in your last few fights..stop doing this to your fans its sad to watch id hate to see you axctually die in the ring man..PLEASE STOP

That mofo unnamed trainer has a time machine and like to touch himself inside a telephone (police box).
His name is Dr. Who.
He is the only one who can turn RJJ age and career.
