A fat, over the hill under-trained Lennox Lewis took several right hand bombs flush from Vitali. Is this a case of Vitalis power being vastly overrated?
Or Maybe Lewis chin is just underrated...
People tend to forget that VITALI took the fight on short notice without a good training camp!!!!Wrong. Vitali had a full training camp, he was on the undercard of Lewis-Johnson and when Johnson pulled out he was moved to the main event. Watch the full HBO broadcast, Vitali talks about this and being in the best shape of his life.
One more thing.. he's a badass..lean & mean. He's one of the few aside for maybe Foreman or Sonny Liston who would have an invincible Mike Tyson pissing in his pants at the prefight staredowns. Vitali is intimidated by NO one. He was piercing right through Lewis in there prefight staredowns...nuff said. He wanted to destroy Hasim Rahman in there one & only staredown for calling him "chicken". Hasim is LUCKY Vitali sustained all those injuries as the beating he would've gotten for questioning Vk's manhood would've at the very least been career ending. The 2 fights that should've happened for closure is the Byrd rematch & Rahman. Lewis rematch never happened but Vk MORE than made his point. Byrd & Rahman needed to get ktfo by him & NOT by his brother just on principal.. Oh well..you can't have a perfect career.. a 50-0 Vitali KLITSCHKO would just be too much evidence...so it has to be 42-2....It's like god said we have to make you completely dominant but have to give you a couple of blemishes along the way so they REALLY don't think you're a programmed robot & are indeed human..hence the 2 blemishes on his record due to a failure of his physical health & nothing else.
:lol1::lol1:
look at shannon briggs face and ask the question again
So Calzaghe displayed great power against lacy and hypejob RJJ?
That being said Lennox had a great chin.
Vitali hits hard, but isn't a one punch KO artist. The myth of his devestating one punch power comes from people who base his power on his record, he hits hard as hell, but he wears guys down and then knocks them out. Wladimir has more one punch power, IMO.
Vitali had very good power in his prime.
Nowadays he appears to of lost some of his pop and relies alot more on the accumulation of shots to wear his opponents down.

Lewis almost went in round 2. I can tell you straight up because I was at the fight sitting in about the 30th row back. He's lucky he didn't get knocked out in that round.
Everyone knows if Lennox was in there with Mccall or someone with real KO power he'd be knocked out in round 2.
Vitali doesnt have that kind of juice and failed against an old man.
he got power, hes a big guy who is naturally heavy handed.
but he is slower, and doesnt have super 1 punch KO power, rather he batters people till they fall down.
but his punches arent thrown well,he swings and throws very clumsy, hes always hitting opponents from downwards angle and is sloppy with his shots.
vitali got half his fukking face tore off by a punch and was looking like arnold at the end of terminator 1http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/nimbus1/XenovipeR_T1-BT-T800-Finished800-01.jpg
Thats what i'm saying. Vitali had a damn vagina above his eye and it was caused by a legit punch. I honestly don't understand the so called controversy. Maybe Lewis should have give him a rematch but there is no doubt who won their original fight.
Back to topic, Vitali doesn't lunge in with his punches and since he has come back from retirement i have seldom seen him turn in to his punches, he throws a lot of arm punches. He still hits hard but not the sort of power that can drop opponents with 1 punch.
You don't have to KO someone flt to have power.
Listen if Shannon Briggs was kept at bay by Vitali's hands that's power; that's respect of power and Briggs has a great chin. Besides, 5+ years agi Vitali's power was insane! His KO's of Kirkland and Hide were something else!
If a scrub from the MMA'S could render him nearly unconscious..surely Vitali would finish the job. Vitali would show him what a Klitschko "sister" is all about. He'd hit him so hard to the body..donuts would come flying out.
He wasn't rendered nearly unconscious and what has MMA got to do with boxing ?, they are completely different sports.
Unless you think Vitali is going to sweep him and then get him in a hold in a boxing match ?. :pat:
Are you guys out of your minds? Vitali Klitschko is one of the most heavyhanded fighters in the history of the sport. Ask his opponents if he doesn't hit hard. He can knock you down with one shot & has done it on plenty of occasions. He ended Sosnowski & Solis with one punch. The demise of his power is greatly exagerrated. You DON'T obtain the highest knockout percentage in the history of the heavyweight division by being featherfisted. If Vitali hits you right..you're going down no matter who you are. Briggs got more of a massive beating than Sanders did & unoffically got tko'ed 4 times in there fight if the corner was doing there job. Vitali has ONLY failed to KO 5 fighters in his entire career. 2 because they were inmcomplete fights & he was injured & NOT 100% for the duration of the bouts. Briggs was Ko'ed for all intent purposes... KJ.. excelled in defense & didn't bring offense whatsoever because he was scared ****less of Vitali & Hoffman didn't get Ko'ed because this was the first bout after his shoulder injury to Bird..The 5 fighters who didn't get knockedout won a total of 4 rds tops. There has been no one stronger or more dominant than Vitali Klitschko in the history of the divison. He has dominated every opponent he's ever faced.. no one comes close to his destruction.
not a fan of big Vit's but this is the truth right here^^^^^^^^^:fing02:
Vitali's power is not overrated. This is an insult. His record speaks for itself. It shows how much power he has in the fight vs Lewis. That was not an easy win for Lewis & in my opinion if Vitali wasn't cut like he was Lewis would have been stopped.
That's subjective. Regardless, I wasn't saying he wasn't a hard puncher. What I was saying was that he isn't known as some sort of knockout artist. He's a solid puncher and that's fine.
He most certainly is a knockout artist. Highest knockout % in heavyweight boxing history. Only heavyweight to knockout his first 27 opponents. If that's NOT a knockout artist... i don't know what is. He's more than just a solid puncher. I think you're vastly underestimating his power credentials. He's such a great boxer that he doesn't rely solely on his power & is not a one dimensional slugger. Trust me..there is no one in boxing history that has done more damage to his opponents than he has. All the numbers bare this out...his size..skills & strength is just secondary.
Don't you just love morons that don't read or even try to understand what is being said? :nonono:
