He was a top rank hype job fighting Floyd leftovers at catchweights getting decisions because otherwise the Mayweather fight will not make its potential revenue, He's plateaued and been protected by uncle bob and probaly has made half of what Mayweather has in doing so, meaning he ATG Fan boy hero who like to sing chessy 80's songs on jimmy kemmel after he's pawed away at a weight drained fighter for 12 rounds.
He has given him good advice, but he just hasn't formulate different strategies for Manny to use when their game plan isn't working. But most of that is Manny's fault, there's only so much a trainer can do, it's always up to the Boxer to try to figure it out on his own.
Well yea, the plan is always play to Manny's strengths so if that plan isn't working what is there to really do~ turn to something that isn't a strength, that is probably a losing proposition.
In any of the fight where he didn't look that great JMM I II III, Barrera II, Mosley or even the second half of the Cotto fight when he really ran I have never heard anything other than general stuff no real pearls of wisdom.
There is something to be said for keeping it simple, but there is a downside to that, simple is easy to figure out and once figured out there isn't much that be done to change at that point.
But yea it speaks to Manny's limitations, but Roach also as he was not a master tactician in the ring when he fought so it is hard to expect him to be great at that as a trainer~
He's definitely improved, but not against fighters who box; control distance and look to counter. He's clearly got a wider arsenal of punches, but again, all ineffective against Marquez.
When has he ever given Manny good in-fight advice~

He doesn't. That's the reason why many fans thinks he isn't a versatile Boxer. He gets discourage too easily if you don't fight him the way that he's comfortable with. Once you're able to slow the tempo of the fight down and reduce his workrate, then you know he's going to get desperate to try to get the fight to be over with by recklessly lunges in and out to get a KO victory, and that's when he'll make most of his fundamental mistakes.
i found this on another website
Against Joshua Clottey, Pacquiao threw 1,231 and landed 246.
Against Antonio Margarito, Pacquiao threw 1,069 and landed 474.
Against Miguel Cotto, Pacquiao threw 780 and landed 336.
Against Shane Mosley, Pacquiao threw 727 and landed 224.
Against Marquez, Pacquiao threw 578 and landed 176,
Yea... I think he did... but not against counter punchers. I mean... when was the last time he fought a good, effective counter puncher before this Saturday.Everyone else either came forward or stood still (with the exception of Mosley) and IMO in the Mosley fight... there were lots of points where Mosley could have exploited the holes in Pac's game.
Pac lunged forward and had Mosley been younger....
2008 when he fought jmm
I still think he's improved, however, some of those improvements help a guy like JMM. Because Pac is more balanced and fights at a slower pace, he's easier to predict. His right hand was far more successful than his left hand this past Saturday. JMM just has his number and Pac fought the wrong gameplan.
i didn't see that,i can't remember any real clean right hands landed by manny

Then Freddie is at fault. Did he give any advice to Manny during the fight?
Thats rhetorical. I just don't think that manny has another style

He still had plenty of times to changed up his strategies in between rounds.
