What a fight!!!! I think Lopez chin definitely got tested and it passed with flying colors. He got rocked a few times by a guy with very heavy hands and kept his composure and kept coming.
Puerto Rico.... Juan Ma is your new real deal! Congrats.
Taking Punches like that won't get you far. Yes Juanma beat the crap out of Marquez but he got stunned and received many solid Punches. What happened to Juanma Boxing Techniques? He used to be such a beast with those techniques. When he did used his jab and **** he was making the fight look easy.
Thats one thing I don't understand about Juanma...Cotto is sometimes the same way but not as cereless. Lopez was easily outboxing Marquez with his Jab, countering with hooks, and his occasional right hand but decided to stay there and trade for some reason. Ask Cotto about the consequences of having a good fight by boxing and going a totally different direction by brawling with your smaller opponent
Juanma got hit in the chin unfortunately, Rafael Marquez can't pull the trigger!
In his previous fight Juanma got knockdown by B. Concepcion, which means to say that Juanma can survive knockdown.
Hopefully, Juanma will square off with Cuban Gamboa!
If he hardles Gamboa, Juanma should go up Jr Lightweight division on his way on top for the best PFP in the near future.

Tested by Junk fighters like Bernabe Concepcion who caught him once...He will flunk once he gets on better quality of fighters
A young prime JMM probably beats him.
But to say he would lose to an ATG is saying a lot about him.
A young JMM outclasses and ruins the Lopez of now. But Lopez is still gonna get alot better.
It sucked to see Marquez go out like that, but we all saw it coming. Lopez is just a young tank. Marquez was too past it, and too small to beat a guy like that. He tried and did rock Lopez once. That gave me a little bit of hope, but you could see how the fight was going really early on. I called it, we all did. But congrats to Juanma.
JMM didn't hit as hard as his brother.
He was also less offensive.
I would be an interesting match-up.
JMM is a brilliant fighter and he would figurer Lopez out.
So yes I favor JMM by UD.
He did at 126. Apart from a couple of fights in which he was forced to lead, which wouldn't happen against Lopez he was very offensive and highly effective.
At 126 he was also very, very fast and his combinations would have Lopez in serious trouble. I can see lead right hands and left uppercuts followed by left hooks and counter left hooks taking Lopez unaware and putting him out late in the fight.
Would have been fun but Marquez was too good for Lopez at 126.

There are a couple of things here though; One is that Lopez was huge in comparison to Rafa. I mean huge. His shoulders alone...I mean, he looked like a big lightweight in with a small FW. I didn't realise how big he was. He's bloody huge.
Rafa is thirty five and started to look it pretty quickly. I don't know how much the shoulder played a part early on, but he stopped moving very quickly and it wasn't because of any body shots from Lopez.
If it was a young, genuine FW with similar power he probably could have put Lopez down or stopped him even. From that performance though I think it's still possible for Rafa to pick up a trinket from someone. He's obviously well past his best, but what he's capable of now might just be enough to nick a fight from someone who can't match his experience and skill.
You could really see the age creep up on him though. He was having good success with moving and countering Lopez but just couldn't keep doing it for any length of time and the size difference was really great and I'm sure that alone wore him down even more.
I'm sure Rafa is a strong puncher at FW still, but with his small size, old age and the slowing of those punches I was still surprised he was able to hurt and stagger Lopez that much. One thing though: Lopez will continue to make really good fights for as long as he fights. He's a big puncher, with good volume, has good skill, likes to trade and can be hurt, dropped and easy to hit. What's a better recipe for great fights?
He showed he's got pride, but he was really wobbly when Márquez had him hurt. And yes, he gets careless. A level headed counter puncher could catch him swining wildly and send him seriously hurt to the canvas.
Gamboa is gonna put him to sleep.
I would say the grade is incomplete. Marquez is older and two divisions above his best. Although he's kept his technique and for the most part his punches are still crisp, I don't know if he has as much pop at 126.
I don't know it seems like he is holding the torch already, Cotto seems a little shop worn now.
I know he isn't the same, but he is still the bigger draw right now and i stress right now. With tito on junma side and if he fights gamboa and beats gamboa he will take the torch
Marquez didnt win the fight because he didnt finish off Juanma when he had him Juanma looked HURT several times and in the fourth he was just asking for a nite nite punch but he pulled thru and whooped Marquez close up and dumb Marquez tries to go toe to toe close up WTF where was the experience there ill just chuck it to the shoulder cause when he sat down in the seventh was when he started to say hes shoulder hurt props to him for goin bk in that round.
