How can anyone dispute that?
Did you not watch the fights he had with Izzy Vazquez?
Props to Rafa for going toe to toe with one of the biggest punchers in boxing right now, despite giving up a big size and youth advantage. This fight does nothing to discredit Rafael Marquez' great career.
If the guy was De La Hoya he would have just dropped to the mat from one of the many punches Juan Ma landed.
Than all he would have had to do was punch the mat a few times and misjudge the count and then he would be a fighter who went out on his shield instead of a quitter.
If Rafa hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt who has?
There is no reason to not believe Marquez. And he fought an incredible fight, nothing to be ashamed of.
Good win for Lopez, Marquez is still great.
Great post.

juanma beat a shot fighter, whoopy dooh...
See? There is always something. Juanma must be such a loser. I mean, he fought a one handed, SHOT fighter.
You prefer to demean one of the best champions of Mexican history, rather than give credit to a Puerto Rican.
ARE YOU BRANDON RÍOS?!?!?!?!?!
1st: Al Bernstein is to Rafa Márquez what Steve Kim was to prime Margarito. Total nutcase fan. So I don't believe anything Al Bernstein has to say about Rafa Márquez.
2nd: IT DOESN'T MATTER. Injuries are part of the sport. Clottey had problems with his hands against Margo? That's HIS problem. Hearns had hand problems against Hagler, that's HIS problem. Malignaggi had hand problems throught his career, well, that's HIS problem. Not Hatton's, not Cotto's.
Juanma punished him. Too much. For Rafa's sake I hope the rematch doesn't materialize. He's still great, a damn fine warrior, but lay off the Chávez post-lose-cry.
