its actually Corrie Sanders...the man was a hero over here, meeting Mandela and co. Pity he forgot to train for Vitali...he was out of shape for that fight.
Too bad he's now broke and attempted a comeback a few months back...boxers:nono:
Just went back and watched the Vitali vs Sanders fight after reading this thread. I hadnt seen it since it happened live and I forgot how well Sanders actually did in spots. He had Vitali stumbling all over the ring in the first. But he was 38, out of shape, and spent all of his energy hoping for the early KO. So Vitali took over. But Sanders still made for a few interesting rounds whenever he would land his beast of a straight left that would hurt Vitali (yeah, I forgot he could be hurt too). The ****ing crowd was loving that fight.
So Sanders ducked the rematch?
I don't think neither ducked the rematch, Sanders simply moved to the bigger money fight, which is logical. But, the ones who say Wlad ducked a rematch with Sanders, are simply idiotic haters.
Wlad was knocked out very brutally against Corrie. Its probably the worst loss of Wlad's career. It was brutal the way he was KO'd.
At that time, Wlad was still improving as a fighter, and he was kind of in a "rebuilding" phase. He needed a year or two, or three to rebuild himself and regain confidence. A rematch with the guy who just sparked him would have been a bad idea.
By 2005, Wlad would have been ready for a rematch, but by that time Corrie was much older, and Corrie had also been brutally beaten up by Vitali.
At that time a rematch didnt make sense, and thats why it never happened.
Wlad was TKO'd against Corrie Sanders. Not brutally knocked out. He was beaten and soundly, but not brutally knocked out.

Thats exactly the way I see it as well.
Wlad tried to rematch Sanders straight away, but Sanders vacated and went on to fight with Vitali. Later on the rematch didn't make sense and that's why it didn't happen.
Any one know why this didnt happen?
Because Vitali Klitschko nearly killed Corrie Sanders. The way the Klitschko's do contracts, like it or not, is if one brother loses, the other brother has first shot at the rematch. To this day Corrie Sanders doesnt know who he is, Vitali scrambled the guys brains, now he can be seen wandering the streets in south africa just lost and confused.
