From what I saw this weekend Bute looked uncomfortably awkward against a C+ fighter undersized Brinkley. Brinkley's head movement stopped Bute from letting his hands go and Bute was hit with a lot of punches I was honestly surprised by. He finally took Brinkley out but this fight showed where he shakes out against the other top super middle weights of the world, and its not good.
To me he is beaten by Andre Ward easily, Mikkel Kessler easily, Carl Froch easily and crushed by The King Arthur Abraham. If he fights Pavlik and Pavlik looks good in his comeback fight against Vera I think Pavlik will brutalize him as well. Really thought this kid was something but now I think he has just been matched very very carefully and shined when in with B level fighters.
His technique is very solid and has power but until he fights a legit contender or outside of Montreal, he's on fraud status. This Guy already got KOd by andrade. If Bute fights anyone like AA, FROCH or anyone with legit power he's in trouble
Thats not true.
Bute's glove at 10 seconds weren't on the floor anymore.
FACT.
Bute will continue to fight fringe contenders in comfortable fights in Canada and duck anyone of substance that wants to fight outside of his comfortable Canadian niche. If he knows what's good for him, that is.
Say the dude who rides Ward's balls.
He won't ever fight out of California.

Very true , hes just been fighting cans last 3 years. Damn , brinkley got outboxed by Mora

He was fighting Jesse fukking Brinkley. Do you know what Jesse Brinkley's best win is? Curtis fukking Stevens.
I know. What that does got to do with what I said?

You're moronic.
He didn't struggle whatsoever. What he did was carry Brinkley in order to give the paying fans a bit of a show.
He could've ended Brinkley whenever he wanted to. He toyed with him easily.
Quit the sport. You know nothing.
Bute has had better fights. Not his best performance. I wouldn't judge him just on that one fight though. We'll see how good he is when he steps in with some of the better guys, but he's been looking good lately.
I gotta disagree with you. Bute looked comfortable and confident the whole fight. Maybe I gotta watch the fight again, but I don't remember Bute having any trouble letting his hands go.
First turn off the commentary, what I saw was Brinkley, lead foot Brinkley, turning Bute and using head movement and surprisingly good boxing ability to make Bute fight his pace, slow with no action. Bute landed some ok shots but then again so did Brinkley. That pretty much sums up the first two rounds. The rest wasn't much different. My expectations were to see Bute steamroll the much smaller less talented Brinkley. What happened was Brinkley got hurt to the body, like he usually does then he folded.
Look at the top guys and they have all proven themselves against extremely high level competition. The best fighter Bute has fought was Andrade, up until 2 years ago I loved watchin that dude fight but even before he fought Bute he had taken far too many punches.
I guess to clarify my point a bit. Bute is good but until he fights a top guy and shows just how good I consider him 2nd tier and all this talk about him being so great is just that, talk.

Bute is the class of the division until andre ward proves otherwise
he knocked brinkley out plenty of times in that fight
the ref extended every second of the count habitually and made a routine of leading brinkley back to his corner for a break
i dont know where the **** they get the refs for canadian fights but they've ranged from corrupt to retarted
he's knocking dudes out and looking spectacular until a big money fight comes around
if the super six never came about he'd be the guy all the smw's would call out for an hbo payday
and he'd starch a lot of those guys too
the only legit knock on bute is that he was virtually out against andrade and could have easily lost via ko if the ref wasnt either corrupt or insane
and we know how the rematch went
smoke and mirrors playa a large role in boxing today.
Just how it is. I wouldnt isolate Bute from this observation.
And really he made a mandatory defense most 168 guys are tied up. Im not so quick to judge. Really all the Ward nuthugging he only beat 1 highly regarded fighter in Kessler...cmon people. Jumping to conclusions too quick. :nono:
agreed :boxing::boxing:

Nah Bute is the real deal and will give any of the other top fighters serious problem and I believe he has what it takes to actually beat anyone out there at 168. I would still favor someone like Andre Ward to win though, but it won't be easy.
i agree he adjusts well, has handspeed, footspeed, head movement is a thinker......look at the traps he sets for the body shots?? I can't remeber a fighter in recent memory who is KO'ing guys so regularly to the body. Andrade and Miranda may have gone down after shots to the head, but it was the body shot's a few seconds before that did all the damage.
he is dangerous to any fighter at 168.
He's a glass chinned no stamina bum who has been knocked out cold with head gear on before.
I wouldnt go that far but I think he does have a questionable chin and problems with stamina, so your points are good. He has power, he has speed but this fight really gave me the impression that against another top tier guy he will get plowed. Honestly put Brinkley in with any of the previous mentioned opponents and he gets stomped. He has defintely fallen in love with that uppercut, a dangerous punch for his opponents and himself.

He would beat AA because he has speed, good foot movement and a bonus in that he is a brilliant body puncher.
Bute is dangerous.....he is the real deal.... guys just cannot take his body shots, and when he steps up the competition he will prove it.
