Ward cannot out box Joe, everyone with eye can see this. Toe to toe Ward has no chance he can't flurry doesn't have the upper body movement nor the output or footwork of Joe. That's a fact any sane boxing fan will tell you.
*BUT*
Some People think he could beat him using his box (1 punch?), grab and maul style right?
Well let me ask you this: if Bernard Hopkins; the master of grab, maul and inside fighting could not maul Calzaghe what proof do anyone have that Ward could?!!?! Unless you're saying Ward is a better inside fighter than Hopkins who is a recognized ATG..........
Lets go one further. if you watch the Hopkins v Calz fight you'll actually notice how Calzaghe - who has never really fought maulers before - superbly nullified Bernard's inside fighting by beating him at his own game and tying his left arm up and tucking his body in making bernards' rabbit punches impossible.
So I have to ask again: Why are people here - and on other forums - saying Ward beats Calzaghe. Styles make fights I've just broken it down for eerbody in this fight HOW can Ward beat Joe!?!?!
puh lease..Chad Dawson beats Hops, but Hops schooooooooooooooooooools Ward. just cause you clinch Allen Green to death doesnt mean you beat Bernard. Bernard needed to leave 160 alot sooner then he did, heck he was almost 40 and still cutting the weight. thats why he looked bad against JT . above 160 he schools Ward..
Still funny. The Ward underestimation in this thread was already comical in 2010 and it's even more hilarious with hindsight.
A Prime "crackhead" Calzaghe would beat everyone in this tournament.. im not from over seas but i can see talent
Calzaghe's record is great but his competition was not the best but most of that can't be blamed solely him b/c there were no other great Supermiddleweights for him to do battle with after Eubanks. Lets just say Ward won the super six tournament and Calzaghe unretired to beat Ward, there would be denying that Calzaghe would be deserving of ATG status b/c he would have the scalp of an Olympic Gold Medalist.
It doesn't really take much for a fighter to be put in the same sentence as Calzaghe....at 35 you can citicize his whole resume, but you can't do the same with Ward and he's only 25,,,Look at Froch who at his age defended his first title in Taylor backyard, something Calzaghe never did.. like i said it doesn't take much...It's very hard to convince people that Calzaghe was someone special....
now for ward to keep up with calzaghe he has to fight absolute nobodies for ten years. it's a tough task will he accept the challenge?
 very true.

:lol1: That was one of your better ones in a while.

lmfao..............
I hate when you go off on Floyd but the Calzaghe posts are epic....
lmfao.
To be fair, Calzaghe at the age of 25 was only 4 year as a pro and not nearly the Amateur pedigree that Ward had. That can also be taken into account when comparing the two you know? At age 25 Ward was a 5 year pro and an outstanding amateur. Calzaghe at age 25 already had a win over Eubanks. Ward at age 25 had wins over Miranda and Kessler.
I see it like this Kessler>Eubanks>Miranda. And, if you put everything into account amateur pedigree, years as a pro. Both resumes by the age of 25 is not really that off from each other. I would give the age to Ward but not by much.

Without a doubt. Ward would shut Hopkins out if they fought tomorrow.
When Joe Calzaghe was Andre Ward's age he couldn't even win a clear decision over Robin Reid.
It will be a cold day in hell before Andre Ward loses a scorecard 116-111 to a fighter who was just good, and not great, like Robin Reid.
Well shit, I would hope so :lol1:
WTF are you on about? Calzaghe's resume is bullshit and everyone knows it.
When Calzaghe was 35 he was finally accomplishing some of the things that Ward is already doing at 25... like beating someone that matters in the sport.
Calzaghe may be a better fighter but you can hardly tell by looking at the long line of nobodies that he beat up and the two ancient washed up Grandpas that he fought to end his career.

He'd certainly give Calzaghe a better fight than most of who Joe fought. I can't say with certainty he would beat Calzaghe, but you better believe he would have a good chance.
He scrapes by Reid but he beats Ward.
LMFAO
This dude fought Bika and Manfredo and never tried to challenge himself.
he barely beat bika and got roughed up badly. he would have no chance against ward who actually knows what he is doing.

What makes you think Bernard Hopkins has anything for Andre Ward in 2010? Seriously, how do you think Bernard wins that fight? How many punches would Bernard throw a round, let alone land?
Without a doubt. Ward would shut Hopkins out if they fought tomorrow.

Did you even watch the fight?
Calzaghe broke his left hand.
