Lets say Floyd Mayweather rejects his Christian background and like Muhammad Ali converts to Islam and takes an Islamic name like Farook Muhammad Or Floyd "Muslim" Mayweather, Do you think given the current political/cultural climate that this will be seen as a rebellious and treacherous act by Mayweather or do you feel the majority would accept his religion as his beliefs?
I find that alot of African-American boxers covert to Islam, Muhammad Ali ofcourse being the most famous but there are others like Bernard Hopkins, Mike Tyson.
Muhammad Ali, Bernard Hopkins and Tyson are all Hall of famers if not all time greats. If Mayweather wants to leave a legacy greater than Ali I feel he might consider changing his religion to Islam.
----
So the question I ask: If Floyd Mayweather becomes a Muslim and starts talking about Islam instead of Money would be more or less popular? And would it affect his great legacy postively or negatively?

Wouldnt make a damn difference
I agree to the fullest!!
it would only legitimize his hobby of beating up women...which is acceptable in the Muslim world
what makes you think beating women is acceptable in the Muslim world?!?....wait don't tell me....let me guess .....your local or national news?!?.....ppl like you have been beat in the head with too much propaganda filled bullsh!t.....I wanna know why you think beating up women is acceptable in the Muslim world....I need to know!!
Where is the Wouldn't make a difference option? Hard to picture Ali being more popular than he already is. No one gives a crap whether he was a Muslim or not.
I disagree, What made Ali even more popular and controversial was his total rejection of Christianity and his slave name of Cassius Clay to become Muhammad Ali. Also it tied in well with the civil rights movement and Vietnam war.
If Ali remained as Cassius Clay and didnt convert he would not have the global undisputed recognition he has today.
I wont be shocked if Mayweather comes out of prison a Muslim, It happened with Tyson who was in for rape, It will probably happen with Mayweather.
Khan did fight Medjadi and also Rachid Drilzane: Both are muslims.
He has also fought a Jew called Salita.
But I think if PBF became a Muslim millions of African Americans would convert in a heartbeat to Islam and follow his example, Just like millions converted to Islam because of Ali in America.
The problem is the CIA/Homeland security will probably tell Floyd not to convert his religion or silence him because they would be worried that Floyds conversion to Islam would prompt a mass scale conversion of African Americans to Islam.
That is the last thing the CIA/Homeland security would want, SO I feel even if PBF wanted to convert he wouldnt be allowed to convert, Atleast publically.
stop generalizing. :nono:.
Wazaa, you said they never fight. Even if he says he has faught his brother you've been proven wrong. Anyway, I'll use your beloved Amir Khan to prove it... Didn't he fight Mohammed Medjadji in like his 11th or 12th pro fight?
If so, you just got :owned:
most people in the islamic religon are nothing but trash. they along with christian have caused the most tumoil and violence in the world. most muslims don't follow the real islam.
Thats one hell of a sweeping generalization.
I don't like to discuss my personal beliefs too much on the forums, FWIW. I enjoy the flexibility of having no distinct persona out here, beyond the fighters I follow.
Excellent point
If I told you I was neither aetheist nor agnostic, what would that make me?

I've observed that bringing too much of oneself (personal self) into the forums is foolhardy and can only assist those who seek to inflate their low self-worth by dragging internet forum debates into pettiness and squalor. These online scenes have no basis whatsoever in reality, so there's no sanity in treating them too much like reality.
Just my perspective.
ok then PM me. why keep it secret?
what islam do you follow?
what scholar is a good one then according to you?
Stop getting soo worked up man. You follow who you want. I posted an opinion I had on the guy, nothing else.
You've quoted a post that..
1. wasnt even aimed at you
2. that doesnt involve you
I follow all non-Salafi/najdi/Deobandi/Tableeghi scholars
If you want to reply to this PM me, as this isnt suited for the open forum.
Most muslims follow the real Islam.
What you know of muslims is the small fraction that the media allow you to see and maybe the odd unpracticing muslim in your local area.
Media will only show those that make news so lets be honest, a humble, honest, hard working non extremists wouldnt make the cut.
Lets not generalise and defame whole religions over the acts of a tiny number compared to the masses.
