from an unbiased person ...tell me the truth about him
was he the real deal or a fraud?
padded record?
fought bums?
ducked fights?
he has one of the best records in history, if not the best record in history- of any weight class ...i want to know if it was legit or not
did marciano have a chin?
and was his power as good as his record suggests?
i cant think of another heavy weight in history with a more impressive record...come to think of it, its even hard to think of ANY record in history thats more impressive ...on paper atleast...
Marciano had a very good chin, he was only knocked down twice in his career which is pretty impressive for a smallish heavyweight that is easy to hit.
He definitely had power, which allowed him to continue knocking out most of his opponents even after he finally stepped up and started fighting the top heavyweights.
It's not like he was unbeatable though. He could be outboxed. Roland LaStarza lost a somewhat controversial split decision against him and in his first title match against the 38-year-old Joe Walcott Marciano was well behind on the scorecards until he get the KO in the 13th round.

I would rank Marciano as the 3rd greatest HW all time behind Louis and Ali, and the best unbeaten fighter except for Mayweather.
I agree with EVERYTHING you said. I never got why undefeated fighters recieved the rap for being soft.
Calzaghe did it while beating Hall of Famers
Mayweather did it while moving up in weight.
Marciano did it while knocking guys out
Even if these guys had one loss they'd still be Hall of Famers. You dont have to be knocked on your ass just to be considered an ATG.
Conn had his first three fights at 135, 47 fights at or below 162, and only 21 at light heavyweight.
He had more fights at middleweight than light heavyweight.
He wasn't a big man, he moved up to heavier weights for better paydays.
He fought only twice after the second fight with Louis then retired, being shot and old by age 30 from fighting bigger men.
The majority of Shane Mosley's fights were at lightweight. Is he still a lightweight? Most of Ezzard Charles fights were at middleweight and light heavyweight. Your logic is very stupid.

Of course, you don't respect Conn.
Because you're a racist bastard.
It's funny how you make these statements with nothing to back it up. I mean truly funny:lol1: It psychotic, really. Conn is one of the best light heavy's in history. And Marciano is an all time great heavyweight. Show me where I've ever said anything different? Time for you to increase your med's for this paranoia of yours lol
Marciano is an ATG. He is underrated by some and overrated by others. It's not his fault he hit his peak when some of theother ATG's were up there in age. Even with that "he fought old ATG's" argument it is MUCH more nuanced than that.
You don't mention that Louis was at his peak at that time. You always have that same subtle bias.
Conn weighed in at light heavyweight for the first fight at 174, Louis was more than 25 pounds heavier at about 200. Despite a considerable height and reach disadvantage, Conn was ahead on 2 of 3 cards after 12 rounds.
I thought you said he was an old middleweight for that fight? Looks like you were wrong. Again :lol1:
Why? Please explain.
Marciano is a Top 5 Heavyweight and the greatest Cruiserweight of all time.
Frustrating Defense
Devastating Power
Incredible Stamina
His resume' is solid, and at 49-0 its hard to find someone with a better career
^^^^^ This....
If it wasn't for Marciano, I wouldn't be into boxing right now.

Peak at what time? The second fight? Louis looked rusty and was never the same after the Second World War, neither was Conn. Obviously he was in his prime during their first fight as was Billy Conn, a fact I never denied, you did. All I disagreed with was you calling Conn an old middleweight at the time he faced Louis.
He was a joke.
Are you joking or being an idiot? Seriously? I don't normally get agressive but Rocky was a natural 185lb'r; that's 30 lb less than Ali when he fought Frazier and a good 40/50 lb less than a Klit / Lewis.
Give the man some bloody credit please. I just gt the impression you're biased buddy. :(
I think Archie Moore was a good fighter when Marciano fought him. Going into the fight Moore had won 21 straight after loosing to Marciano He won 11 straight before he lost to Floyd Patterson.
Even Joe Louis was on a 8 fight win streak going into the fight. And had gone 15 rounds with Ezzard Charles 1 year before he fought Marciano.
You always attack when I'm already fighting someone else, you cowardly scumbag. Then it's not a fair fight.
Ease up on the completely unnecessary insults. A discussion on the internet is not a fight.
For his first fight he was 135 pounds. He had three fights at lightweight.
Conn, who never had an amateur career, was 16 years old then. Pacquiao used to be a strawweight. Your point?
His next 44 fights he was between 137.5 and 162 pounds, in other words light welterweight to middleweight.
Between ages 16 and 20. Chris Byrd at 20 years of age fought at 140 pounds.
His next 21 he was between 162 but under 175.
So a light heavyweight then.
So most of his career fights were at light welterweight to middleweight.
The prime of his career, from 21 years of age to 30, was spent at light heavyweight and occasionally at heavyweight. He beat several top ranked heavyweights, such as Bob Pastor, Lee Savold, Gus Dorazio and Finland's greatest ever fighter Gunnar Bärlund. Most rate Billy Conn a top 15 ATG light heavyweight.
In 1946, he was not quite age 30 but completely shot from fighting bigger men when he fought Louis, and in fact had only two more fights after that before retiring.
This was the second fight, Conn was 28 years old, Louis was 32. In case you didn't know, they had a fight 5 years previously, when Conn was 23 years of age and at his absolute peak as a fighter.
He was a joke.
Why? Please explain.

Honest truth: Marciano was an ATG fighter.
He was heavyweight champion of the world from 1952 to 1955, and went 49-0. He was an exciting fighter who KOed most of his opponents - two of his fights were selected as "Fight of the Year".
Rocky was a small HW, and virtually all of his opponents were taller and had a reach advantage. It was amazing that he achieved so much with a 67" reach and such short arms.
He never ducked anybody, he fought the best available opponents.
Sadly, some people hate and discredit Marciano because he was white.
Agree with everything but the last line. People discredit Marciano cause they believe he fought in a bad era.
Personally I don't hold that against him. He was an ATG for sure, although I do rank Ali and a few others above him.
Is it possible for a racist like you to appreciate Marciano's skills?
Man stop fukking calling me that.
You keep ducking this post.
Tunney you are so paranoid.
Why am I HUGE fan of Pep, Benny, and Locche?
Huh?
So stop calling me racist, okay. Last time I called you out on that in the other thread you ducked me. You said I hated Euro fighters. Then I told you Froch, AA and Adamek are 3 of my faves and you dissapeared.
B]I won't respond by being offensive to you because I am stronger and have better self-control.
And it's obvious that YOU are the racist.
No, you'll just create an alt and do it which actually makes you a coward. And you still haven't answered my question. In what way was Conn "old" when he fought Louis? I think even you realize by now the " Conn was a middlweight" comment was dumb.
You previously said that age doesn't determine a fighters age. You're contradicting yourself with your RACIST double standards.
LOL You are in a serious mess.
You said Conn was old when he fought Louis. So I assumed you meant his age because he certainly had not shown that in the ring. So please explain how Conn was "old when he fought Louis? I'll wait and I won't hold my breath..................
