3 title defenses in 2 and a 1/2 years as middleweight champion.
Opponents: The "immortal" Gary Lockett, the "never quite good enough" Marco Antonio Rubio, and "some guy who wasn't Paul Williams" Espino.
This has to be one of the worst title reigns we've seen in a long time.
Tim Bradley is forced to pick a belt right after he beats Kendall Holt, yet Pavlik has been middleweight champ for almost 3 years and has sat around.
I know he's had injuries, but the level of opposition has been terrible. I'll be rooting for Martinez to win.
I thought Gary was very sensible when he took 4,224 knees against Pavlik, he had his career as a personal trainer to think of.
Could Pavlik be a good personal trainer? of course he couldn't! he'd get you to hit a huge tyre with a sledgehammer for three hours, the boring, bald, f.uck.
I'd trust Gary Lockett to produce an interesting excercise and diet program for me to undertake. He's awesome.
LMAO.. green k...
Jermain had trouble making 160 his whole reign. He was a full-fledged MW. Taylor fought Hopkins twice. Arguably lost both. Fought Winky. Arguably lost. Beat Ouma. Fought Spinks. Arguably lost. Then got starched by Pavlik. Pavlik then beat him again in a rematch. Pavlik has destroyed both of his mandatories, Lockett and Rubio. Espino fight was a joke, but it happens. Look at Abraham's 11 defenses of the IBF belt. About 9 of them are a joke.
Good points, everyone is just frustrated with the kelly on how the pwill negotiations took place... I liked kelly before that but after he strung on my fighter for ****in 1 year and left him inactive he can go fucck himself.... If he wins against serg than his ass better get into the ring with paul or ****in retire... he's holding my boys belt
Personally, I think it's awesome that we have a bald middleweight champion. Boxing has enough pretty boys. What happened to true, old fashioned grit?
I agree.
Rumour has it that in a complete reversal of the tale Samson, Kelly Pavlik's hair actually drained his power.
Ever since he became a complete slap-head he's been punching like a demon.
Pavlik made Lockett quit in the ring and with his career!
WAR PAVLIK!!!

I was thinking the same thing for weeks about Martinez getting robbed. And if Kelly Pavlik was black alot of people would be talking about how he does`nt fight anybody and that he cherry pick his opponents.
Isn't the subject of this thread about how he hasn't fought anyone? What's the difference?
What do you call Ouma and Spinks at 160?
Jermaine wasnt some huge middleweight, regardless while ouma and spinks were smaller guys they were still legit defenses. what do you call hopkins, winky and pavlik at 160? the fact is, Pavliks reign has been lackluster and bascally has been on a bum fighting tour since taking the title. honestly, his resume isnt touching jermaines and his reign is a joke. if he loses to martinez, his stock plummets further
Ouma mustered a SD over Rubio at 154. I'd take Rubio at 160 over Ouma. Spinks? Well Spinks has been shit ever since Judah KO'd him at 147.
By the way, Lockett and Rubio were WBO and WBC mandatories. Pavlik did exactly what he was supposed to do with mandatories. He crushed them.
Hate on the Espino fight all you want. That's fair. But he was coming off 10 months that saw him battle staph, bursa, and an allergic reaction to antibiotics.
Now he's got a great fight with Martinez. Look to the future, stop letting the past get you down.
Looking forward to it. :boxing:
He was fighting better righters than anyone he could have defended against... Taylor and Hopkins. Idk what's with the bitching. Ok maybe his 'title reign' hasnt been that impressive. So what? He has been entertaining me as a boxing fan because he consistently takes hard fights and challenges himself.
I like Pavlik. And I really wish and hope that he lives up to his potential. There's just no arguing the fact that his title reign has been a disappointment so far.
Taylor's defenses, UD over Ouma, SD over Spinks, disputed UD vs. Hopkins, disputed Draw vs. Winky.
Pavlik's defenses, KO, KO, KO.
Against Bum, Bum, Bum
