Dawson is overrated.
He's not overrated, he just isn't fighting enough. His last fight against Glen Johnson proved that he is now a seasoned vet with polished skills and in his prime. I wish he could fight more often to prove his critics wrong.
i know this is gonna seem real biased cuz of my post history, but look back far enough and you'll see im a big dawson fan, but dawsons chin, with dirrells speed and power, i dunno, dawson has good defence, but dirrell can explode outta nowhere and take your head off
i'd favour dirrell by tko
Dawson does not have a bad chin, and he certainly can take punches from Dirrell. The question is can Dirrell take shots from Dawson, a much bigger fighter?
Dirrell may have beaten Dawson in sparring, but there is a difference between actually fights in the ring and sparring, and Dawson looks WAY more polished. Dawson by UD.
Dirrell cannot run from Dawson because Dawson has the speed to keep up with Dirrell.
ppl forget that this guy (dawson) rehydrates to 190 on fight night. no way can he make 170 and since that is the catchweight presented by TS then i say dirrel by decision adding to the fact he beat him in sparring nd the weight. dirrel would be comfortable at 170. dawson wouldnt. add to the fact that dawson has been inactive
:lol1:
Seriously though, I'd pick Dirrell to win by U.D. He's alot more active then Dawson.
^^^
Dawson would beat all 6 fighters in the super 6.....he would embarrass Froch and Abraham and win every rd............he would beat AD too
Right now Dawson but if Dirrell keeps improving and gets more mature I'd give him a good chance at winning. Dirrell has a lot of talent, I think he's really just scratching the surface right now.
I'd say probably @ catch weight 170?
Dude, Im one of Dirrell's biggest fans... But you cant actually ask that question can you? Come on man Chad Dawson is undefeated and in a weight class up and beaten top notch tough guys like Tarver twice, Glen Johnson twice, Tomasz Adamek, and Eric Harding... Dirrell hasnt faced competition like that yet, with the exceptions of Froch and Abraham, and by the way he was robbed by the judges vs Froch and robbed of a spectacular points win by Abraham, so he still has alot to prove... Not saying the rest of the guys hes fought arent talented, but besides those fights his biggest fights were against Curtis Stevens, Anthony Hanshaw (whom he sent into retirement), handed Mike Paschall his first loss as a professional, and Victor Oganov.. Tough guys, but not on the same level as Tarver, Johnson, Adamek, or quite frankly Harding either... So I had to go with Dawson by PTS... However, with time, this might change... I see Dirrell winning the Super Six and unifying all major belts at 168, no bull shit, and when he does that, he'll move up in weight to 175...
this is a close one IMO
if Direll is mentally there he has a good chance of winning it but if he starts to do some stupid sh*t- I don't know Dawson i guess -because he's stronger mentally
by the way that's a fight i would love to see
Catchweight at 170, and I'd pick Dirrell then. Dawson said awhile back he thinks he can make 168, if thats true then I guess going down to 170 shouldn't be too hard for him. Unless he was just talking out his ass.
