im a fan of abraham but what he did last night made me sick. he had his nights, when he knocked out kingsley ikeke to become world champion and defended it several times. his very last fight against taylor, scoring a dramatic knockout in the last seconds lifting all of his hometwon fans out of their seats to cheer for him. that night he truly was king.
but last night was dirrells night, abraham shouldve taken his loss like man. dirrell was clearly the better fighter that night, i was on my feet for several rounds in awe of his ability not even realizing i hadnt sat down yet. u can tell he trained his ass of and he fought a brilliant fight, this was his night to stand tall with his arms raised as his hometown fans cheered him on.
instead he ended on his back from a cheap shot thrown by a sore loser, no matter if he gets the W on his record or not he deserved better. laid out in front of his whole family and lots of friend in a fight he won. and thats not even mentioning the physical trauma he went through suffering a brutal KO like that.
abraham did a terrible thing, then again we all make mistakes and we need to keep in mind it was a heat of the moment type of thing. considering the consequenses i still think he should be punished, this is a dangerous sport and dirrell couldve been injured permanently.
i think he should lose the extra point he gained from knocking out taylor. put him at 2 points next to ward, dirrell and froch. thats a fair punishment imo that will send a statement to fighters about sportmanship. thoughts?
he lost via DQ
that is his punishment....
you can say "suspension" but it shouldnt be more than 6 months, and it'll be that long til he fights again anyway...
its done, its over... Dirrell is OK and AA learned his lesson... if it were a fighter who had 6 losses already then i wouldnt necessarily say its OK that he just gets the loss, but this is an undefeated former world champion... his 0 is a HUGE deal to him... well, it WAS
No one has ever been suspended for doing what AA did. Not Jones, who threw a pair of shots on Griffin; not Terry Norris whose 'blast on grounded man' was one of his premiere weapons his whole career; not Nigel Benn after Iran Barkley (where he wasn't even DQ'd). The punishment is the L.
Throw him out the tournament.
Nah. I agree with the original poster who said take his point away for the KO over Taylor. But that seems kind of arbitrary. At the end of the day he deserves that point for the KO. So I dunno.
Q: What should abrahams punishment be?
A: A DQ of course, and he recieved that last night. No further action should be taken.
On A Side Note:
I didn't get a chance to see the fight last night (any of them), i was looking foward to the replay today (DVR)...
I decided to jump on last night a little late to find out the results..
I saw words like Dirty fighter, Cheater, and Discrace...I had yet to see the punch until now. I don't know how hurt Dirrell was (I will not pretend to know either), but that punch should not have happened, but I also see how it could.
When I saw words like the ones stated above, and now seeing the punch, the same folks that used such words, also need to put Roy, Soto, and Margo (most will call him a discrace anyway) in that catagory as well...All have hit a man in the heat of the moment...And paid for it (except Margo of course, he was also in the heat of a combo)...Are they a discrace too?..A cheat? A dirty fighter? Please remember, I am only talking about that combo in reguards to Margo, nothing else...So keep the plaster stuff out of this...Thanks.
Anyway-
Uneeded punch, but in no way what folks made it out to be...IMHO.
I will not condeem AA for this.
Good win for Dirrell, to bad it ended that way.
so anytime a fighter is down clearly on points he could just sissor kick his oponent in the nuts and not be penalized? UD or DQ is all the same, a loss is a loss. he wasnt punished at all. dirrell was laid out in front of his hometown fans and his family, thats punishment and for what? being the better fighter?
next time im losing in the ams, last 30 sec of a fight ill just go grab the stool and smack the shit out of whoever im fighting, sounds like a plan. ill be punished by losing by DQ instead of decision. whoever im fighting will end up like gerald mcclellan, thats fair.
For deliberately falling over to avoid punches?
Having just seen the whole controversy i hope AA would come around and feel remorseful, Dirrell was definitely helpless and AA didnt need to throw that late punch, It was truly uncalled for.
It was uncalled for. And people are defending AA, saying it was unintentional, or he was getting ready to KO Dirrell. That punch was out of frustration....PERIOD. I'm not buying that he was faking at all. AA was getting dominated and would have lost a UD.....

You have to understand,it was Abraham's first loss.He could have been more composed, but everything was done in the heat of the moment.
I agree with the DQ and if it didn't happen this way-Dirrell would have finished the fight more than likely.Just look at how much more aggressive Froch was with Dirrell, and Dirrell was still strong enough to make it.
I think his loss is warranted and doesn't need any further punishment unless this is a habit-which Arthur never does.I believe he was just frustrated and knew he needed that lucky punch in order to win as he was VERY far behind on the scorecards-something that he has never had to do.
People that wanna turn this into a hometown decision need to realize that the doctors helped Arthur out fixing his cut,and though I believe Arthur scored a knockdown (even though their feet were slightly tied),Dirrell got an uncounted knockdown that wasn't credited as well.
If Arthur is the gentleman that he normally is,I would hope he apologizes to Andre for the illegal blow and the insults.
Very good win for Dirrell though-and anyone who critisized his fight with Froch needs to realize that this kid Andre Dirrell, really showed a good fight in against an even tougher opponent, without constant running. He really used a lot of good assets of his...
I second this post, the DQ was his punishment.

That's what I don't get about american fighters in the super six. Ward had the fight going for him against Kessler but decided to end it cheap with headbutt's until stoppage. Now with Dirrell. He starts to tire, feel AA power yet he was way ahead on scorecards. He get hit takes his gloves infront of his face waits up.. does his little dance. A DQ is announced and up he is like nothing happened screaming for the fight to continue :lol1: American style fighting = Ghetto tactics.
You don't need to post, if all your motive is to just belittle a fighter who made your Danish hero look ridiculously bad that night!:boxing:
the man was knocked out cold, dont be stupid. abraham was already losing anyways if it says UD or DQ on his record is irrelevant. he took uncalled for risks with his oponents health and should be penalized. again tyson was fined for what he did to holyfield, id rather lose part of my ear than get knocked out cold from a cheap shot in my hometown in front of my entire family.
He wasn't knocked out cold. How many times have you seen someone to take a full twenty seconds to realise they have been knocked out cold? "Hey, you hit me while I was down, you're going to lose a point... hey, I could lie down now and win by DQ... ok I'll lie down and pretend to twitch a bit".
I don't like Dirrell. I don't like the way he runs, the way he avoids exchanging, the way he complains to the ref and the way he flops to the ground all the time. He started the fight brilliantly but by the end of the tenth AA was connecting frequently and Dirrell saw his opportunity to get his win more easily and took it.
It was a legit DQ but Dirrell made a meal of it.

the DQ was punishment enough...now moving on Arthur Will Be Back And he will do a beatdown on his next opponent..
He should be disqualified from that fight. Oh and maybe have to give Dirrell his award on oscar night.

He wasn't. He was released from hospital and didn't even suffer a mild concussion.
THANK YOU!!!!!!
:usa::usa:
except in your case its a scottish flag
:wank:
He was losing anyway so the DQ isn't much. He should lose his pay day for that fight and get a 2 point deduction.
I don't think people acknowledge the severity of what he did. There's a reason why that shit is banned in the ring, you can kill your opponent.
:wtf: :wtf:
He's been punishd by DQ, there is no need to blow this out of proprtion.
tyson got further punishment for biting holyfields ear, what abraham did was far more dangerous. u cant suspend him cuz that would be taking him out of the super six which is to harsh, but i think some sort of fine or points deduction like previously mentioned is called for.
