He may have quit as Hopkins was taking over, and it would hardly be the first time a fighter (especially one who's already achieved a lot, as opposed to someone on the rise looking to make his name) basically said to hell with it.
But in terms of it being some pre-arranged thing, I don't think so.
that was a well placed left hook, DLH didn't see it coming, he was trying to duck out the way of a right hand that he thought was following the jab that was just throw.
seriously guys the fight wasn't throw, DLH didn't throw the fight there was no fix, because if that were the case, you're trying to tell me that a man as rich as DLH is going to throw a fight? for what? money? win on his sports bet? grow up, fights that are throw are long shots, or politics behind it, not in a fight that if DLH did win, would have made him a great.
Hopkins was way bigger in stature and in way better condition, DLH was fighting at a weight where his body was soft, he didnt see the punch, and hopkins had weight and momentum on the punch.
a shock to the body is crippling, period.
i have to laugh at all these internet tough guys, " that wasn't a hard shot" coming from couch potato who has probably never been hit there. " he hit his arm, wasn't even a clean punch " that isnt what i saw, just like the telecast crew saw and the replays showed. " he hit him with his wrist ", well then, even if he did, which he didn't, he didn't get to turn it over, but it was still effective, obviously, and not to forget the fact that roy jones knocked down calzaghe with a wrist shot, did that knock down not count?
i could see if there was some obstruction of view to where some of these laughable claims were made, but replay after replay with slow motion clearly show that was a legit body shot that DLH was stopped by.
and for those who think that one has to act a certain way when knocked down or out form a body shot, think again, watch johnny tapia's ko loss to sandro marcos, tapia was crawling around on the floor on his hands and kness in a panic like he was dying, he went into a straight panic, it was shocking to see........
I wish I could find the video with the dubbing of Oscar whining on the canvas
:lol1:
& frankly I don't give a shit whether he threw the fight or not. I never really liked Oscar.
Hopkins hammered him. It was a perfect punch. It didnt look hard but it was pefectly placed and at 15 seconds int hat vid you can see Hops put alot into it.
It was a perfect punch, and why the hell would DLH take a dive with the MW belt on the line. As far as someone saying it was funny how DLH signed Bhop following that fight, he also signed SSM and is involved with Mayweathers promotional company, DLH knows a moneymaker when one beats him.
DLH isn't an ATG regardless and I don't think he threw the fight. Fact is, that was a boring watch and I think it was more due to B-Hop having to make 156.
So you can come in four pounds under your normal weight, due to a catchweight, and not be drained. Hmmmmmmmmm.
I've always felt the fight was fixed. B-Hop wasnt really fighting for most of that fight. He was naturally bigger and stronger yet he wasnt really attacking. Plus, how Oscar was acting on the ground after the punch. It was a performance worthy of a "C" movie. Oscar makes Snoop Dogg look like an Oscar winner. Also,I'd read B-Hop was gonna be part of Golden Boy Promotions. Oscar loves $$$$$$$$. If Oscar were to throw a fight,it would be by a body shot. It's easier to spot a punch that doesn't land to the face. Plus Oscar would never throw a fight with a head shot. He loved his allegedly pretty face like no other. It's why he quit against Pac. Pac wasn't actually hurting him. However the skin on his face didnt like the punches.
my dad who is a hardcore fan probably even more than me has always said since that fight that it was rigged. he knows how bad body shots can be, even more devastating sometimes than a clean shot to the head, but considering that the punch was weak and closer to the back than anything he thinks that oscar tanked. I've never believed it myself but well i guess i wouldnt be surprised to hear it was...
2. Anyone who has followed De La Hoya's career knows that he is one proud man and for no amount of money would he throw a fight where he could be Undisputed Middleweight Champion of the World.Oscar loves money more than any thing in the world.
Damn u guys hear the guy shouting BODY SHOT!!! BODY SHOT!!! I think that was the cue. I always felt weird in that fight looked staged as hell.
thats what I pointed out myself, they just kept screaming for the body shot then bam
I never understood how people even thought it was a dive, because Oscar went down from a body punch? Oscar went in the early rounds and traded with Hopkins, if he was going to take a dive he would have moved around and waited for a punch to land to take a dive. You don't go in and try to take his head off first and then go down.
Like a middleweight can't stop a welterweight with a bodypunch. LOL
yep see the liver is protected by the high rib cage which is where the shot landed. best way to the liver is under the right rib cage.
if it hit any organs it would be a glancing shot on the kidney, but i doubt that happened.
That's where it landed, under the right rib cage.

Anyone who thinks there is questions about that has never boxed before and has never been hit with a kidney shot, especially one he never saw coming from a naturally bigger fighter. Body shots take everything you have right out of you. It doesnt matter what your ab game looks like, a good body shot will end the night.
No. Simply no. The fact that the KO is almost anti-climactic, that it just happens and you don't know what the hell is going on or why Oscar De La Hoya is staying on the canvas for the only time in his career, of course that fuels the conspiracy mill.
1. Real body shot.

Approved. Have these sent over to my office.

pac-dlh was more staged...dlh looked like he was pulling his punches and him coming in at 147........wtf(not saying manny wouldnt have raped him anyway, or that oscar wasnt shot....hell i think it wasnt supposed to look that 1 sided and oscar wasnt supposed to take that heavy a beating)
145lb and the rest you said makes no sense. You're still cool in my book.
