No i'm not talking about compared to his featherweight days. That's obvious. Watching recent videos of Pacquiao training I seem to think both his hand and footspeed are a bit slower compared to the cotto fight. Because it's pacquiao it doesnt seem like much and still very very quick but in my opinion it does show definitive signs of decline and slippage.
Anyone else besides me think or even notice this???
Since the Cotto fight, that's what he said in the opening post.
Oh well I dunno about that, but his speed at 147 is not as fast.
Then again, Pac was fast but inaccurate which gave people their chance to win, while now he is still fast but more accurate. No point having a fast car that can't corner in a track
People forgot how good was Zab because it was long time ago.
Zab could be one of the best fighter and even number 1 p4p but the only problem is he is not consistant with his performance. Like in Cotto fight he was dangerous and looked like KOing Cotto for 10sec at max 30 sec but then he takes the whole round a rest. Also he is mentaly not well prepared. Cotto low blowed him and it lost his focus completly
Pac at the lower weights was much faster.
He is still fast, but so is Floyd and perhaps Mosely.
But they all have definitely slowed down.

...I personally don't think he's that fast at all. His speed during training (the ugly shadowbox bullshit) and during fights is completely different. I personally always felt i could see wtf he's throwing from a mile away.
Whereas guys like Judah, or Floyd for instance.. would do things that would WOW me with their speed. FLoyd could throw a lead hook faster than he can throw a jab. Things like that are impressive.
TYSON wowed me with his speed, just incredible. Roy jones, etc. I don't find pacman all that fast at all. just me though, but watching his fights.......meh.
Zab Judah is fast and powerful, but his punches are likes mortar shells compared to Pac who is like a 6 shot accurate missile and Mayweather who is like a 1 pinpoint camera missile. (I know nothing of missiles but you know what I mean)
Pac has some fast speed, but it's his combination speed and accuracy considering how many he throws that wows me.
I do find Floyd fast, but I don't prefer pot shot speed over combination speed.
So you can tell from some training footage shot on a cheap camera that his speed is declining, you must be superhuman.

Yeah me. It was during the Cotto fight that I noticed it. Still faster than most. I recall that CRold also noticed this in one of his articles. I think it was his post grade of the pac-cotto fight.

I did. When he shadow boxes or hits the mitts it is not as fast as for the Cotto fight. I don't know if it is slipping or just letting off.
i noticed this too.. its just that hes doing more strentgh conditionining as hes facing a bigger opponent (s) and they want him to carry his punching power.. his best assest ofcource is the differenct punching angles.
if he did it would be because of him gaining more muscle mass, but then again his power will increase or has increased... Pac won't make himself decline, he's too strong willed to do so

he should be fast enough to tap this

No, i wasn't being sarcastic at all. Yes judahs speed use to WoW me. He can throw a triple jab before most people get off a 1-2.
You never get the "if you blind you'll miss it" vibe with Pacman that you did with
Floyds lead lefts against Chico. THAT was true speed. Pacman aint all that quick, tbh.
People highly exaggerate his speed. He's just very consistent. In the later rounds when people normally slow down, he's either picking up or still the same.

Pacquiao's speed is great but the angles are the best asset he has. Fires with both hands with weird angles most fighters don't see that in the gym and thus can't defend against. Counterpunching solves this partially because Pacquiao is wide open (because he punches with both hands). This is why i think Floyd will win if they fight. Floyd is very accurate and Pacquiao is very open. Watch Pacquiao - Marquez II to see how many punches Manny actually lands when he's being counter-punched compared to when he's not (Cotto, Hatton, Hoya).

Really? Not that fast? Judah WOWed you but Pac hasn't?

This is the most sarcastic post I've seen in a while....LOL...Zab Judah and the 'wow' factor.
its only natural for a someones speed to decline with age so yes it is steadly declining obviously you cant tell how much untill the bell of each fight rings

Manny could be working on specific combos, technique ,sitting on his punches for power and could be slowing down in training for precision to get better form. Closer to the fight my guess is he will be working on speed. I doubt he has lost any of his speed.
