not to mention, making these tests mandatory, and conducting them, will also be very expensive for the commissions.....
but before we even get to that point, the commissions would have to admit that their current testing policies are insufficient, and the new testing would be more beneficial.....i don't see that happening any time soon, which is why it was so funny when arum said they'd only agree to random blood testing "if the NSAC deemed it was necessary." :nonono:
so how much do these tests cost the commissions?
are the current testing policies placed there so that it would look inferior compared to the much-hyped olympic style tests?
If pac were to ever fight mayweather with random blood test, they should also agree that mayweather shouldn't be allowed to use xylocaine on his hands on fight night :boxing:
I understand but they can make it where only title fights would be random blood testing.
well of course, they COULD.....
but if the argument, is that these tests are better OVERALL than the current ones, and in turn will make the sport better, and insure EVERYONE is on a level playing field, how would the commissions be able to justify this for "only title fights," and do so with a straight face?
i think we can all agree that "title" fights are not always the "biggest fights," nor are they the most "important" fights for boxing.
i get what you're saying tho, and they could FIRST implement the testing by doing so for title fights, but they wouldn't be able to go for too long, without making the tests "mandatory" period.

The NSAC will do whatever the big name promoters steer them to do. Its not about doing the right thing, its about doing what brings them the big fights in vegas.
Margarito/Cotto was almost moved out of vegas when arum threatened to pull out because he wanted 8oz gloves when the rules recently got changed to 10oz to protect fighters from the previous death in the ring.
They then changed the rules so that as long as the fighters agree, its ok.
Arum set a new precedent, and nobody cared. Like i said, this is about the messenger not the message.
But, then they should change it... GFB is a big name promotions. Is up there with Top Rank as the biggest. GBP has some kind of a deal with MGM. So GBP is going to put fights in Vegas. GBP could push this issue more to the commission even threaten the commission like Arum did. Why don't they do that?
Team Mayweather has come out and said random blood testing is going to happen for all future Floyd fight. Which is a step in the right direction. But, why not talk to the commission and say if you don't step up this drug testing policy Floyd will never fight in this state again. GBP can do the same thing they have come out and said that any of there fighter that fight Pac. Both would have to do random blood testing. Why don't they go to the NSAC and say hey if you don't change your testing policy then no GBP fighter will fight here again.
Like you said the commission will do what they have to do to get the big fights. GBP and Team Mayweather have the pull to make them do it. They are big and powerful enough in the sport of boxing to make it happen. Why don't they discuss it with the commission and try to make it mandatory.
I don't know I have send an email to the NSAC saying why random blood testing is best. I am not naive I know my email will not get any attention. But, I think if GBP and team Mayweather try to force the NSAC hand in this. Then something can get done here. Because, GBP and Team Mayweather are big enough and have the power to do so...
I think they said they wouldn't have time to change their policy for that fight, and I'm not sure they'd adopt it anyway. I hope someone tries to get it passed.
I really think the commission doesn't want it, because they don't want fights cancelled or rescheduled. And the promoters probably don't want it, in general, because they stand to lose fighters to bans, and lose money to cancellations.

I see what you are saying. But, now looking back do you think Team Mayweather should of went to the commission first? And, try to make it as a mandatory for boxing in general in the state of Nevada?

OK now that this is brought to light. Do you believe the NSAC and other commissions will get some heat for have weak drug testing?
Do you think this will help make the commission get stricter drug testing?

First of all, i think when this testing was brought up early during negotiations and it was agreed upon, i dont think mayweathers team ever thought it would be a problem.
second of all, judging from what im reading, most of this isnt even mayweathers idea, its ellerbe and his management that pushed hard for this.
third of all, i dont think mayweathers team had any idea how vehemetly pac and his team would try to not just spin this, but bring a legal matter into it.
the thing is, american atheletes are used to being under a microscope of suspicion. I do attribute some cultural difference and i also think pacs team has been feeding him things that may or may not even be true regarding negotiations. I will say if pac didint have a leigon of followers ready to take a load to the face for him if nessecary, this would be an even bigger deal than it is, if he was a western athelete i do think hed be on a different playing field media wise.
Here in the states there is alot of suspicion, but what does it matter when not only is he not one of our own, but hes treated like a diety in his home country? I think as long as arum and roach basically tell him whatever, and pacquiao isnt exactly the brightest lightbulb in the drawer, i think this whole thing was bound to be a disaster.
When you have two people with monster egos, one of them thinks they are the greatest ever, the other one is smart as a rock but has a country behind him to help him leverage, you get results like this, and you get another reason why boxing outside of the ring is the worst sport on the planet.
'nuff said. great post.
All these other demands that fighters make constantly bend the rules within the comission regardless. Things like catchweights, mandatories being avoided yet keeping youre belt, creating new belts for catchweights, imposing ungodly penalties for being overweight, fighters picking each others gloves. Adjusting the 10oz glove rules for 8oz if both fighters comply.
Upping the ante on drug testing is just something that bends the rules on what the commission already does. New rules and precedents get set in sports all the time.
The problem is floyd mayweather and manny paquiao. one guy is viewed as a universal asshole and the other is a virtual saint.
So you attack the messenger and not the message. It doesnt matter anymore regardless. This is honestly one of the dumbest sports ever. Only in this sport do people celebrate like "YEA MY FIGHTER IS IN CONTROL, YOU WANT A FIGHT WITH HIM YOU GOTTA BEG"
or
"IM GLAD THIS FIGHT ISNT HAPPENING, I HOPE FIGHTER X GOES BROKE TOO!!"
all this posturing, cock sukking and everything else has created an envoirment where the best possible fight not being made, is ok as long as the fighter you like comes out looking good. Fukk this concept.
also, these mayweather KFC images are offensive as fukk.
The same stupid rhetoric mayweather fans used on here for years when he was number 1 is exactly what pac fans have turned into. Like i said. this is a stupid sport outside the ring. Im dissapointed to say im even a fan of this sh!t right now.

Naw. The commission would've shitted on it. By going public he raised awareness.
Not really if you look at all this boxing writers and the general media Pac is not getting crucified. More people are blaming Floyd than Pac. I don't know if it is right/wrong but it is the truth. So him going public is not really hurting Pac standing right now. Look at how many boxing writers and the media has Pac back in this.

i dont know man,im just very dissapointed the fight aint going ahead,i dont even care anymore whos fault it is?to be honest we should all be talking about mosley vs berto and juanma vs steve luveno, both fights are around the corner and everyone still pointing fingers at each other, myself im looking foward to other fights even manny vs clottey,i will be cheering for manny all the way
