Marquez fires Nacho Beristan

It seems like Rafael Marquez the younger brother of Juan Manuel Marquez let Nacho go. And, hired Fernando Beltran as his new trainer. Nacho is a great trainer but horrible manager. Fernando Beltran is a manager, not a trainer........

OH SHIT!!!!! that's crazy...they've ALWAYS been together Yeah. That's very surprising to hear. Both of them have been together since the very start. He had the perfect Beristain style. Exactly like his brother and Lopez etc. Great skill with the heart and fighting pride of all of Beristain's fighters. Wow.

People in NSB thought i was wrong for not including Nacho in the best CURRENT trainers category. Nacho once told Zaragosa when he fought Eric Morales " this guy is a rookie he is like an amateur he can;t hurt you", that was when Morales was fighting for the Super Bantam crown and Morales was undefeated and been boxing since he was 5 years old. In addition, Morales had an extensive amateur experience, yet Nacho totally dismissed "El Terrible" as a Novato.

nacho was his first trainer, been with the marquez bros since they were kids. for a second there i thought it was JMM from the title. Actually his dad was his first trainer. He turned them over to Don Nacho when they were getting ready to turn pro. He confirms this in the article and states that he will probably return to his father with the possible help of Daniel Zaragoza. I guess if it's true that Don Nacho was ignoring him, he was damned if he did and and damned if he didn't.

Do you have any links? I know I read an interview here on NSB a while back where Don Nacho said something about Rafa being too cocky for his good or something to that effect. Having said that, are you saying that Rafa fired him as a manager only but will still train with him? I am a little confused here. Cotto can not have a trainer who tells him what to do. I like Cotto but his stubborness to always be the main man in camp is his downfall. As for JMM, well there was nothing he could do to win with any manager. Too much weight and Floyd is too good for him I agree PensionKiller. He's gotta get out of that self-defeating mindset. To much false pride, and Cotto don't want nobody telling him to get off his ass and train like his life depended on in.

That IS news! I've been really dismayed by Cotto's decision to keep the lame team and trainer he has. I'm hoping he can recover from his recent loss and start with a completely new team...NO family members...imo, they should not be a part of his team. My 1st choice is Naaz, but if he couldn't get him, it would be Nacho. and Miguel needs to learn how to listen, take advice from his corner and execute the directions during the fight. i think a fault of Miguel is he's stubborn, and maybe a bit too much pride. Maybe that's why he never got a really great trainer, somebody that would make him work his azz off and force him to commit to evolving as a better fighter. Watching the 24/7 episodes I couldn't believe how slow and lethargic he looked hitting the mitts. I would've at least tried to give the impression I'm working as hard as i can, but he looked way over-confident and content to train slow. I heard rumors saying "that's how he always trains...don't worry". Well, i worried. And Manny kicked his ass royally. Like i posted before, he needs to revamp just about everything. New team, trainer, and lose the false sense of confidence. He has much more potential that can be brought out with a great trainer like the 2 mentioned. But it's up to him to decide if he wants to evolve and be better than before. We don't even know if he's going to continue boxing. It's been a tough 2 1/2 or so years for him. I hope he can grow from all this and make his comeback and maybe even avenge his losses...maybe. I don't know if even a revamped Cotto could beat Manny. but he had a few good moments very early in the fight that gave me hope...but he quickly lost his confidence when he saw he wasn't hurting Manny. He needs to deal with the confidence thing, and stop backing up. When he goes into retreat mode, it's all over. He's a aggressor. He needs to come forward. Shane beat Margo cuz he kept coming forward.

Nacho is overrated. 16 world champions, 3 Hall of Famers including an all-time great, and two more future Hall of Famers. Thanks for playing, try again.

I dont blame Raphael Marquez, He has been involve in great wars without any recognition for it.

Cotto should hire Trinidad Sr. aka The PR Jack Lowe. im not sure if cotto is going to fight again... i dont beelive the dead of his father will make him more hungrier or anything... as a matter of fact.. I think that was a checkmate for his career.. he was really close to his father.. and me personally beleive that it should be the best for him
