Idk what the hell Roach is thinking saying this needs to be a tactical fight.
Does he think Pacquiao stands a chance trying to outbox Mayweather.
Did ANYBODY else see the last 8 rounds of the COTTO fight, where Cotto didnt seem to have much trouble backing up and avoiding punishment? I mean, Cotto was GONE at that point and he still stole some of those later rounds.
Mayweather does everything Cotto can do backing up, and then some.
Pacquiaos best chance is to go for activity, and try to outwork Mayweather. Set up a high body shot tally, and the start going for the head.
Pacquiao has to be very smart though obviously, and look out for the pot-shot straight rights and counters.
I'm sorry guys, im really pulling for Pacquiao in this fight, but the more i look at it the more i see a tremendously difficult uphill battle for Pacquiao.
I got Mayweather by Spanking at this point. Havnt really anaylzed the fight yet, but i hope Roach doesnt blow this fight in the gym.
PACQUIAO CANT ****ING OUTSMART AND OUTBOX FLOYD MAYWEATHER. It'll NEVER HAPPEN!!!!!!
you are just giving Mayweather to much credit. Early on, Ricky was fresh and could take Floyds best shots. He ate them for 10 rounds and was so spent by the 10th that he just ran into a shot he didn't see coming.
there is no "Mayweather gave him to much respect" part. Floyd was tagging him right from round one only Ricky was walking right through it. That fight Floyd was dominating, but it just looked like it was very hard for Floyd to do because of Ricky's strength.
sometimes I forget that not everyone knows about the video trading block, where you can download the fight and watch it many times over.
I have the fight on DVD as i do all of mayweather fights. If you notice in the corner his own team said you dont have to run from him you can fight him inside, mayweather was being selective and careful. There are plenty of PBF fights where is much more offensive than the Hatton fight. Luis Collazo has FAR less power than PBF and even he almost KOD Hatton at the end of their fight. In fact, I thought Collazo deserved at minimum a draw as he easily had a 10-8 fight in RD 12. In addition, after RD8 even Joe Cortez was thinking about stopping the fight. PBF started to really step it up in the middle of the fight. He was more on the defensive early on with selective offense.
Hatton is not that strong at 147. Here is a fact: Judah, Baldomir, Marquez, and DLH at 154 all lasted the distance against PBF, but Hatton was KOD.
He was also getting potshot the whole fight, mayweather gave him too much respect early on, and i think would have finished him earlier on if he had just stepped it up.

Not just in 10th rnd. He was rushing the whole fight.

RIcky hatton bum rushed PBF in RD10 of their fight and look what happened? He got caught with a check hook and never recovered fully. Obviously Pac has a better chin but that will not be smart at all. Pac has a better chance working the body and working PBF in the ropes. Pac has speed he can set up traps without trying to go for the kill early on.
He HAS to outwork in my opinion, No other choice.
De La Hoya was stationary though. He was very big and lumbering compared the extremely swift Pacquiao.
Pacquiao isnt gonna be able to do that in and out bullshit against Mayweather.
Its either stay out of reach, or stay close enough to him that he cant potshot pacquiao with that straight right.
Pacquiao has to take risks IMO. ANd he has the balls to do it. He has to risk eating some massive counter left hooks to try to work that body and wear him down.
maywather has an outstanding chin, but i strong believe Pacquiao has the speed and power to knock Mayweather out. No doubt about it. But it goes both ways.
Great Post man...

pac gotta put on smart pressure. if he tries to outfeint pbf in a staring contest he will lose.
Agree, but smart pressure may become frustration after not being able to land and getting countered, though PAC's footwork is going to give a lot of problems to PBF, still I see really hard for PAC wining, I can see a lot of ways PBF can win over PAC and not the other way around...
So now Cotto spent 8 rounds boxing backwards and actually won some rounds? Funny, I saw Cotto run for dear life for about 4 or 5 rounds and lose every single except MAYBE one while still taking massive punishment.
Pac has to use effective, calculating, aggression, if you want a blueprint watch Duran in the first Leonard fight. I know Leonard tried to brawl so it's not a perfect comparison but watch what Duran did in that fight, how he made sure to stay in Leonard's face without exposing himself with reckless punches. He will have to outwork Floyd but he cannot just bumrush him recklessly.
I think all 3 judges gave cotto the 10th round or something like that, might have to verify that.
And obviously im not saying he jsut run wild and throw everything and anything. He shoudl of coarse be careful and smart, but he has to fight an agressive gameplan. he has to stick his head in Mayweathers chest, something Pacquiao hasnt ever really done before.
he has to either be out of range for the straight right, or close enuf that Mayweather can counter any of this shots effectively
Idk what the hell Roach is thinking saying this needs to be a tactical fight.

I agree with Kball. It'll be difficult for Pacquaio to win this one and almost impossible if he makes it a tactical fight imo. He gotta do something real crazy like brawl or something to win this, kinda like what Hatton did on Tszyu.
If Pac is too careless though, he could get hurt. Mayweather isn't a huge puncher, but he's fast, accurate, and isn't pillow fisted as it is. If he gets tagged with a lot of hard rights hands and left hooks early it might give Mayweather an early edge. Also, i'd guess Mayweather would be smart enough to keep him turning to avoid the shots, or clinch to stop him.
Of course, I can see your idea. Jump all over Floyd early to take away his comfort zone, it might disrupt him enough that by the time he regains his rhythm, Pac could be a few rounds up. But, I'd take the former option to be more likely.
He was walking around like he was the terminator against Cotto. When Pacquiao decided to Catch Cotto he could. easily. Pacquiao is very fast on his feet, even quicker than Mayweather.
Mayweather will potshot, and by doing so he might get outwork and swarmed. Unless he can pull a SRL and run all 12 rounds while landing shots (he doesn't seem to throw while moving) then he can beat Pacquiao.
Mayweather will not throw combos or exchange because by doing so he is initiating a fight with Pacquiao, and fighting with Pacquiao get's you knock out.
Mayweather has a tendancy to go back to the ropes willingly because he is so good off of them. He can counter and block pretty easily it seems.
Pacquiao should take full advantage of that though, and pound his arms and waist

Roach at times is a fukking idiot...........
Manny is getting his ass beat whether he wants to BUM RUSH or be Ali...
He will lose to Mayweather.
yeah... if not for comments like this I would listen to your show..
Idk what the hell Roach is thinking saying this needs to be a tactical fight.
"We'll KO Cotto in the first round."

I think FLoyd is the better inside fighter so getting inside of potshoting range will only get Manny forearms then punched once or twice then clinched, Floyd has the shorter punches.
Floyd can fight from inside or the outside since he will posses the length advantage, Manny needs to find his range and fight at that not getting to close or to far away.
Hearns was a great outside fighter but really was nothing on the inside, that is not Floyd Mayweather so that is not really a wise move to use that as a basis of starting a plan.
If Pac bum rushes Floyd early it will increase the chances of him getting caught and dropped. Espicially because after he throws his 3-4-5 punch combinations he is a bit off balance after.
i think roach is gonna use a similar gameplan to the one he gave hoya....just outwork and hope the judges give pacquiao the fight.....
