Its simple they are reaching more fans by holdin thier events everywhere. Boxing is damn near monopolizd by Vegas. Most people don't have the moeny to go to Vegas but if there was a fight in their city. Look at the prices for a fight in Vegas compared to everywhere else. Its like boxing is shutting the fans out and dont even realize it.
In terms of big fights, Vegas has a monopoly. The only reason Pav is fighting in Youngstown is because he is facing Espina.
Atlantic City is a great place to have fights, but post Gatti barley any big fights have been held there.
I think what the TS is arguing that bigger fights need to be spread across the States, which i generally agree with.
And I don't disagree with wanting the big fights someplace near me. I'd love it. Doesn't change the fact that fighters still fight all over the world/US on a regular basis.
The big fights are held in Vegas for financial reasons.
-Money made from the venues bidding on the fight.
-Money made on the LEGAL gambling.
-Incredibly overpriced tickets sell better because people visiting Vegas are already expecting to spend all their money in extravagant ways.
If anything the one thing boxing should be doing is making their "big events" big events by showing tons of quality fights on the undercards (as you both mentioned). The one thing I would hate to see boxing do is flood the market with PPVs the way MMA does.
They hold boxing matches all over the world, all the time. I could probably drive within 60 miles of my house this weekend and find a fight.
Pavlik fights in Youngstown, Gatti fought in Jersey, The klits fight in Germany, Diaz fights in Texas, Minto fights in Butler, Arreola in Oakland, etc, etc, etc.
Your argument, besides being asinine, is inaccurate.

The positives of the UFC are
1) Having events across the United States (and world now, when you consider England)
2) Matchmaking...the top fighters in the division always fight each other
3) The events themselves. Filled with live undercard fights with good matchups, instead of old guys talking.
If boxing could improve on one of the three, like filling the events with better matchups and fighters it would do boxing a world of good. Nobody needs to hear Merchant, Steward and Lampley talk about "subplots and storylines" for an hour.

What does that even mean?
Are you implying the only place to see a fight is in Vegas?
Real men...dont kick...elbow and backhand.........
They punch.
MMA fighters fight like women..rolling around the ground looking for something to grab.......
MMA"peeleft:
im guessing you dont enjoy movies with fighting scenes either? besides rocky ofcourse..

You could not be more wrong. MMA has rejuvenated the Sport and its become a more global sport.

looks pretty mixed to me guys... i love both sports, then can co exist like football and futbol no need to trash talk guys.
you guys are beginning to sound like old bigot arum and ignorant floyd.
its mixed MARTIAL ARTS. theres discipline involved too. its just not as pure as boxing since its mixed.
dont act like vice versa versions of the mma fans who talk shit about boxing.
I heard something a while back about Cintron and MMA (would work since he was a wrestler in High School), and now Mayorga's doing that shit. Ray Mercer even. Any good boxer can whoop any MMA fighter 90% of the time (conservative estimate given flash knockouts and ground fighting, MMA guys can't take a punch like a boxer.
UFC knows its market and plays to it well, but it doesn't have staying power. It's not memorable. You ask someone to name a classic MMA fight, maybe they can give you one, you ask someone about classic boxing matches, you can be talking for DAYS, you know where you were, who you watched them with, and every big shot and knockdown. People say that MMA is still new, but you can still talk at length about fights that happened in the last year. No other sport can claim that.
the best part of mma is when they stand up and fight like real men.
that's why brazilian jujitsu, judo, wrestling ain't big in the USA... cause real men fight w/ fists
MMA is a fad, it's only got one crowd and it's going to stay that way. The only person who claims Boxing is dieing are tools that own the UFC like White or Rogan. Naturally their skinhead followers take it as FACT.
