Because he is one of the most complete fighters right now in boxing. I mean If anyone has had the privilege of seeing one of his recent fights, you know watching him is a thing of beauty.
Even though he makes alot of cash fighting in Japan, He has mentioned several times he wants to fight here for world wide recognition. I'm just really hoping Donaire, Darchinyan, Sonsona, or one of those guys step up to the plate and make a fight happen.
Im no Donaire fan, but this is somewaht true!!!!
It doesn't apply to hasegawa, who has fought foreign competition in pretty much all his defenses. Naito didn't fight donaire because japs don't recgonize the ibf or the wbo
Probably the best fighter out of Japan right now. He ought to unify his division, then move up to face Donaire.
I think someone mentioned on another thread that Japan does not recognize the WBA so for them to get matched up together, Nonito would need another trinket from a governing body that Japan recognizes.
wtf are you talking about? donaire has been wanting to take on japanese champs for the longest but the japs dont want to give any threatening non jap fighters a title shot in order to keep titles in japanese hands.
Japan doesn't recognize the ibf or the wbo. That's why naito didn't fight donaire
i'd like to see hasegawa vs abner mares, he's ranked 3 by the WBC and it'd be a good undercard fight. Hasegawa is my third favorite fighter, he's sick
I don't exactly see why Hasegawa would come to the US, there would need to be a fighter with real star power that would draw him here. I am pretty sure he by himself in can make more in Japan than the purse of him and his opponent combined fighting on US soil. Aslong as he fights high quality dudes so be it, it is really hard to be a star in the US in the very light weightclasses, also he is in the prime of his career so he would have to spend a bunch of time just to get known to the American public and who knows if that would actually work out for him.
I just don't see how it works unless there is a megafight for him, which I don't see on the horizon.

He might fight Sonsona at 122 but that fight makes sense in Asia if you really look at it.
I doubt he will fight Donaire or Darchinyan since I hear that Hasegawa is moving up to 122. Maybe he fights the Cuban fighter Rigendoux(spelling?) in his U.S debut. That could be a fight that can made in Florida. And, it will be a good fight
Hazegawa is the man, dying to see him kickass over here.
He's gonna have to make some sacrifices.
It's one thing to say it, it's another thing to do it. There have been no shortage of great fighters with perfect records who claimed they wanted to fight in the States but never did because they weren't willing to sacrifice anything and had grown used to sweetheart deals.
thank you very much, but coming from a guy that sports a zsolt erdai avatar that is a very hypocritical statement.
It's not hypocritical you retard. I didn't say anything bad about him, nor did I say anything good about Erdei.
I simply made a point.
I sport an Erdei avatar because I am Hungarian, not because I think he is the greatest fighter who ever lived.
why should he leave japan ? hes making a shitload of money over there and getin fights with the best, sorry but boxing doesnt revolve around america
and he is a p4p badass, would destroy donaire imo
Another in a long line of foreign fighters who say they want to fight in the states yet make no serious attempt to do so.
The guy looks good, but he's never leaving Japan.
hasegawa is a sick fighter. I love his inside punches.
Is that Lawrence ****ing Cole reffing that fight? That morther****er needs to stay his ass in Japan
it's been 7 minutes since thread started and no responses. Hasegawa gets no play on NSB. I'm definitely interested. Get him on US TV so I can see him!
The reason he gets no play is because he only fights in Japan.
I agree with the TS though, he is a complete joy to watch. ****er looks very legit, but until he fights more legit opposition outside Japan, we will never really know.
With the Exchange rate and the Japanese Yen the way it is, you would think more Japanese boxers would be willing to fight in the US.
