Would Mayweather vs Pac break the PPV record?

Minimum 2M IMO. Imagine Muhammad ALI againts Mike Tyson in their primes. These two are the very best of their Generation and the two most popular. Chavez-Pernell is not as popular DLH-Tito are very popular. But Are they the very best of their time ? Guys like Roy, Tyson and Vander are still primed during the time .

There are possibly too many exciting match ups on that undercard that it might take the limelight away from the main fight. I admit Vazquez vs Lopez as an undercard is a huge reach. Also the only way the could pull Shane vs Clottey is if they promised the winner would get the winner of Floyd vs Pac in a unification bout for welterweight supremacy. Getting Chavez vs Duddy and Kahn is very possible though, and that is 3 huge fan bases the ppv will tap into that will add atleast 800k or more buys alone. Diaz is also popular, and being a golden boy fighter makes it easy for them to get him on there also.

Here is a simple way to get 2.5-3 million buys....include the following fighters: John Duddy, Chavez Jr. and Ahmir Kahn. Duddy and Chavez are both Top rank fighters and have huge followings so having both would add aroundn 500k buys alone. Then since kahn wants to be popular in america and understands he has to start on undercards here, what bigger way to make a splash than on one of the biggest fights in a long time. Also he is trained by Roach so It wouldnt be an issue. It's also a good way to tap into the English Fan base adding even more buys. I doubt it but if anything will ever come close to that it's this fight for sure. I could see it do 2 million.

With Golden Boy/Top Rank and HBO promoting this fight like no other mega fight in history I think it will do over 3 million buys.

well a good example is my cousin (who never watches boxing) asked me if they were going to fight and told me it would be the first ppv he bought. So if it draws people like that who I woulda never guessed would watch it, who knows.

BS, it breaks the record and there's no question it does. This fight will get promoted to no end. Mexican, Filipino, Black and causual fans will buy this fight. honestly though, dont try and tell me that these 2 fighters are on De La Hoyas level. Just because hard core boxing fans on here are salivating over this fight does not mean that some of the hundreds of thousands that bought DLH-Mayweather are. what kind of world do we live in when 1.9 million buys isnt enough? fact stands: people that know Oscar>people that know Mayweather/Pac

I say this fight will do at least 2 mil. You have the boxing fans, and the fans that just buy big fights. Mayweather will be doing trash talking for himself and Freddie Roach will be doing the trash talking for Manny. That always hype fights up. Especially when lots of people think they will finally get to see Mayweather knocked out (I'd bet my paycheck thats not going to happen). So its going to be a crazy promotion. I think they should let Goldenboy handle the majority of the promotion though.

dont think so, these 2 might have done over 1 million buys in their last fights but they are still not as huge as oscar, every one knows oscar. i would not be one bit surprised if it did 1.9 million. but people talking about it doing 3 million arre crazy. thats the kind of viewer ship that FREE networks think is great, imagine 3 million buying $55 worth of tv...

Id say 2mil.... I dunno if it will break it....Oscar is a huge draw....and may did actually show he is a draw...even tho marquez brought alot cos of the independence day etc... But i doubt its breaking the 2.5mil

BS It breaks the record 2 prime undefeated fighters who are ATG with black, mexican, filipino following. It will get tons of casual fans to buy also. That's news to me. :bukkake:

Only with one hell of an undercard, and without UFC competing with it, and with it being force fed to us daily by the media. I'd guess roughly ~2 mill right now. But who knows what Arum and De La Hoya can come up with to make that number soar.

doubt it, for the simple reason that de la hoya was more popular amongst non boxing fans than either fighter, and de la hoya obviously loved by the huge hispanic fan base... if you put israel vasquez and rafael marquez in the undercard, it will :)

i dont like ufc/mma or nothing but some mma fans educated me that ufc 100 did 1.5 million buys and the only reason they did it was, because they had a main event (lestner and someone) and an awsome undercard(had like 4 fights that could of each been a small ppv). If pac vs. may could do something similar it would reach 3 million, if it has an usually shiity card, then it does 2.2-2.5 million Nah, I dont see the undercard making any difference in this fight. Undercards are really just for hardcore fans like us. Mainstream fans dont care much about Undercards because they dont really know any of the guys and half the time they are partying or dont get there until the Main Even starts anyways. The undercards are for us but us hardcore fans are going to buy it anyways because the main even is such a big fight

It might even be beyond 3 million buys. I'm gonna say around 2.7-2.9, though.
