What of him, he keeps fighting bums and losing to old men who hold and cheat. He's done. Now wit the talk of him fighting Bute on HBO. So what he beats the mandatory at 160lbs some no body. Schedules a fight at 168lbs against Bute for Bute's belts if he losses he is stll the 160lb MW Champion?....That sound slike some real crap to me...Lefty

I agree with you and also TheUptownKid. Kelly and his Youngstown local working class hero thing has painted himself into a corner. It is a great Cinderela story and got him to where he is but he needs to learn new skills and move on and Jack Leow does not have what it takes to take him forward. This reminds me a bit of the Hatton Billy Graham relationship. They are great coaches for getting in peak shape but don't have the technical savy. If he had any real understanding he would have advised Kelly to turn down the Hopkins fight. I KNEW that fight was going to be a train wreck for him and was surprised Team Pavlik did not see that one coming. He fought that fight strictly for a pay day but in the long run even if he had won that fight what would he have gained? At that time people would have said he beat an old Hopkins. Losing that fight was a double whammy he lost the bout he lost his 0 and he lost his position in boxing....Lefty

Hopefully Pavlik will bounce back soon, maybe the loss to Hopkins as well as personal problems has derailed his career. His still has time to get back on track. I think his outgrown Jack Leow, Kelly is 1D after all. maybe Roach or even Rooney could shake things up a bit. I agree with you and also TheUptownKid. I don't know if anyone can give you your will to fight back. He needs to get back in there this year often. he is fighting in December, he should try to fight another 3 times in 2010 plan something for late Feb or early March then late july early August and finish off with another fight in December or January of next year...he needs to keep busy and fight at least one or two big names in the next 4 fights....Lefty Some fighters are never the same after thier first loss, look at Tyson on the other hand Ali was always able to bounce back. Only time will tell which kind of fighter Kelly is, hopefully more like Ali than Tyson.

kelly seems to me to have prom queen syndrome. He is always in youngstown he is the king of youngstown a larger than life figure. He probably feels untouchable day to day just walking around town, but at night he has to look in the mirror. He knows graduation is around the corner and college aint the same as his ohio cakewalk. Being elite comes at a price which he knows his ass can not always pay. Hopkins was the real world calling the question is does he have the balls to answer his next call?

What are his personal problems? He has not been right in the head since the Hopkins loss. When that fight was made I had a bad feeling the fight was all wrong for him. Pavlik used to be one of my favorite boxers but now, I don't care to much for him in the ring. I think he has personal issues that have resulted from the Hopkins loss that may have ruined his career, honestly. You think that your boy Martinez is going to beat Williams? I ask myself this question of late. I look at King Arthur and what he has been able to do in his few fights. Taking the leap to SMW and beating the man whom Pavlik dethroned in a awesome fashion. he Arthur now sits atop the SMW division ranked #1 by BOXREC and many other critics and fans. I can't help to ask myself what of Pavlik now? Honestly this guy had the world in his pocket after he defeated JT in 07'. He picked himself up off the canvas and brought home the undisputed MW crown. FF and he gets schooled by Hopkins in 08 and now he can't get a decent fight with another big name. Well let me rephrase that, he can't get in the ring with another big name. This so called hand issue he has had plagued him now for about 1 year. The fight with Williams was going to be exciting. The first time Pavliks name was attached to anything exciting since he fought Hopkins in October of 08. His only fight since October of 08 was against Rubio and it was a joke. Now he fights another non contender Miguel Espino and we get to see it live on PPV? WOW is all I got to say. A tune up fight live on PPV Bob Arum has been so busy with PACMAN he out did himself here with The Ghost. Ghost in the sense is we haven't seen the same Kelly Pavlik since he knocked out JT in 07. At least we haven't seen him in there with anyone worth mentioning. I take a look around the MW division and besides a match up with Williams at 160 I really don't see anyone else there. We might see Pavlik fight a WInky Wright at 160. Imagine that Wright get a title shot after he got destroyed by Williams? yeah i remember the miranda fight, at that time i didnt even know who pavlik was, i was kinda stoked cuz i thought miranda would be the one to finally beat taylor... then BAM pavlik BLEW UP ON THE MAP with that impressive victory.... then the first taylor fight was huge, a star was born i think Loew is a bad influence on him, i could be wrong but thats what i think, i think kelly's past him as a trainer now and he wants to do what he has to do to make sure kelly doesnt leave him, kinda like a bug in his ear... could be completely wrong, and i expected a lot more from kelly... A LOT... but im gonna just sit back and see what happens i guess
