I want to love Ward, I really do. I'm all about the Olympics, and I'm all about my country. There is no reason for me to not be on the Ward bandwagon. I even like his style.
But for some reason, I'm all about Kessler. I've been repping him while he's been fighting bums, and I wanna see him prove himself on a big stage. I do like Ward though...
Why the heck should we feel unamerican. They are both nice guys, no problem with being a fan of either. Now if you rooted for him BECAUSE of his Nationality that is an entirely different thing.
im american & im rooting for kessler to KTFO andre ward. cant stand superstar egos on boxers who have done nothing.
Andre Ward has shown himself to be one of the most humble fighters in the sport. He 's also an Olympic gold medalist. What have you accomplished in your life that surpasses that? You have shown a growing ignorance each time you post. Your hate spewing says a lot about you and it's not cute. Do you ever post anything intelligent? Seriously.
Not in the least bit. Why the **** should I blindly root for someone because he is from the same country as me? I find it hillarious that people do that with fighters. It makes them come off as sheep.
why? most americans dont care about american fighters. most americans would rather get behind the heritage of their great great great great grandmother just so they can express their "uniqueness" by throwing another countries flag over their shoulders. if you look up and down at the top american fighters in any division, hardly any of them have a huge fan contingent unless their claiming another country. nobody in america cares to get behind their own unless there from somewhere else.
I know all about this. King Arthur Abraham is one of my favorite fighters and I hope he wins The Super Six. I want him to wreck shop on everybody in the tournament, except my Little Rock brethren Jermain Taylor (unfortunately he smashed on him too). I hope he mollywhops Dirrell. No matter what though, at the end of the day it's still about the red, white, and blue for me.
I don't let my love for boxing get poisoned by nationalistic biases. I root for the fighter I like and respect the most, and never feel guilty about it. There are plenty of assholes from my country who I would NEVER root for, and plenty of non-Americans who I will almost always root for.
Kessler/Ward is one of the rare times when I like both fighters pretty equally. They're both nice guys and both represent the sport very well. May the best man win.
Different with an Olympic Gold Medalist though, no? At least it is for me.
I never take nationalistic sides, but with Olympians, I form more of an allegiance. Maybe it's just me.
Well that's country vs. country. It's not that anymore, he's representing himself and his country is behind him.
With the Olympics I'd go for him, but now? Kessler.
I root for who I like, not some damn country. Simpleminded mofos right there.

There's nothing wrong with if you're rooting for Kessler. I mean, boxing is an individual sport not a team sport. This is Ward vs Kessler and not U.S.A vs Denmark.
Of course. But as an avid sports fan, as in a huge fan of all sports, I feel like it's a crime that I'm not rooting for an American Gold Medalist.
There's silver lining though. If Kessler loses, at least I'll know that I do indeed like Ward.
