Ann Wolfe
Straight up this is who Cotto needs, she believe that training should be the hardest thing that you do so the fight is easy. To me this is the main issue in both of Cotto's defeat he trained to go at his pace but got brought into the other guys pace and he crumbled because he was ill prepared to fight a whole fight like that.
I have seen various trainers brought up as good for Cotto but have not heard anyone mention Wolfe, I think it could be a good fit way better then Mayweather Sr. anyways~
Brother Nazim Richardson is the good option being that a Shane vs Cotto fight is pretty much 'off the table' at this point. He'd be able to help Cotto strategically, work out kink in his defense, and pick fights that Cotto could win. I still think Cotto can have a decent career, a couple of tune-up fights and maybe a 154 title then bounce.
Guy have reinvented themseves before it would not be likely but it is not out of the question if Cotto is dead set on it. He would have to be 100% into though, and taht does remain to be seen.
Hypothetically, if Cotto and Manny came into the fight with the same stamina level, don't you feel the outcome would have been the same? One still has to address Cotto's inability to adjust to the speed and power of Manny.
You could be correct, but it would have been more competitive longer.
Cotto is done as an elite fighter. No trainer will change that.
The way to beat him is very clear, like Taylor if you apply relentless pressure and don't let him have a rest you will TKO him.
It may not have you are right, but to me one of the glaring flaws with Cotto is that he gets drawn into a pace that is not good for him then even though he can keep up for a while he slowly crumbles until totally falling apart.
How to fix this is to train like a wildman and be prepared for the worst possible outcome. Manny trains like a wildman, if you train like that a fight is easier then the training. That is a big part of Anne Wolfes training method and to me this was one of the real difference between Manny and Cotto on fight night manny was prepared to fight 12 rounds at a super high pace, Cotto was prepared to fight 12 rounds at his pace.
Also to me Ann Wolfe is an upgrade in every area over Santiago.

That midget is the same size as Cotto and would make all us internet toughguys curl up in the fetal position
That midget is NOT the same size. He could make 135 if he wanted to.
Bitch is a freak. At this point, Ann Wolfe tko Cotto in 5.
I am going to be looking over my shoulder for the next month afraid that Ann Wolfe is commming to get me for calling her a bitch on the internet~
His latino machismo didn't keep him from running from a midget.

:lol1: ironic from a guy who plucks his eyebrows...
I think Wolfe is a good choice to push him to new heights, I just think his latino machismo won't allow him to let a woman boss him around.
I wouldn't either tbh...
Possibly, but if Cotto wants to really be serious about his career he should be willing really do anything. he got beat down a second time he needs to go back to the drawing board.
Also Ann Wolfe is one scary bitch, if there is one woman on earth to fear it is Ann Wolfe.
Not sure if changing his trainer would have made that much of a difference. Sure Anne Wolfe may have improved Cotto's stamina, but i don't think it would have improved his offense/defense against Pac-man. Manny's speed and his ability to throw punches from different angles still would have been a problem for Cotto.

I doubt he'll replace Santiago. Santiago should be convincing him right now that he didn't expect manny to be this strong. a trainer has to be ready for everything it was no time in his career for bringing in a rookie. no one can really slug it out with pac. Maybe a Valero, but he only fights 1 rounds so you sont know whats his stamina like.

Just throwing names out there and I doubt Cotto will change trainers again.
Joe Santiago can be on his team but dude needs to not be his top trainer. Joe had always been on his team and got bumped up after the issue with Evangelista.
It was a failed experiment best to cut his loses and move on, to me Ann Wolfe is outside the box but she is pretty much exactly what Cotto needs.
If he is not willing to really make the tough choices like this then to me it will be very hard for him to come back as a true elite fighter.
Nacho Beristain, Nazim Richardson or Emanuel Steward.
Hell no on Manny Steward that would end up making Cotto worse, Manny is good with outside fighters and to me Cotto is not a superior outside fighter.
Nazim maybe
Nacho would probably be alright but I don't know what he could do for him at this point
she is a taskmaster, but I dunno if cotto will be willing to listen to her.
she'll get his ass in shape tho. but what cotto needs is a tactician.
Cotto needs to make dramtic changes if he wants to really continue his career at an elite level.
A technician would be good but I still think his main failing in camp has been not be prepared for the worst case scenario. Also Ann Wolf could not be any worse of a technician than Santiago, I would think she woudl be a huge step up from him.
Rudy Perez would be good. The guy that trained Barrera and now Vazquez...
Or a cool guy like Goosen would be good too.
To me he needs a hard ass and Ann Wolf is the most hard core trainer I can think of. Ann Wolfe is a scary bitch and would not take shit from no one even Cotto.
Also she is not really training anyone major currently (that I am aware of anyways) so she could focus on Cotto.
Those guys might be alright to, but the main thing is I think Cotto needs to be pushed in camp to go at a pace that is way beyond what he is used to.
