Ring Magazine Latest Ranking: Cotto stays at #7 P4P, Pac jumps to #1 Welterweight

Cotto was #3, so Pac should have been at that rank. The highest Pac could go is #2. Mayweather hasn't fought in 1 1/2 year before the JMM fight. JMM was also going up in weight. So, 2 or 3 is ok but Mosley deserved to be #1.

I am more concerned with the Welterweight rankings than I am the P4P rankings. I'm not trying to rain on Pacquiao's parade, but Mosley should be #1 at 147. Here are a couple reasons why. First, like someone mentioned he beat the guy who was #1 to get to the top. Second, he didn't fight him at a a catch weight. And the fact that Pacquiao has only had two fights at the weight compared to Mosley's greater amount of fights there should also be taken into consideration. I don't like this move at all by Ring. And the funny thing is, you can't accuse them of being biased toward Golden Boy on this one unless they are trying to think of it as putting money in Oscar and Schaefer's pockets from the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. Because they sure are treating Mayweather better than they are Mosley when Mosley has fought better comp at 147 than Floyd has despite not bringing in as much money and interest.

A lot of these P4P lists are subjective. They will vary from person to person.

Cotto is ranked too high, he should be about #12. Abraham and the Klitschkos should be there, Caballero should not be. I agree on Abraham, but the P4P list usually doesn't count HWs.

Yeah he has but i thought this kind of list got updated or should be based on how active you are etc each year, So far Dawson has some very uninspiring wins over Tarver/Johnson. I mean for instance and im far from a big fan of the Klits but Vit beat down Arreola who was young rated and ranked but aint on this list seems odd to me. I've always wondered why they don't include heavyweights in the rankings. I think Tyson was P4P #1 in his prime, but they don't seem to rate them anymore.

Cotto atleast (this year) beat a top 10 WW in Jennings then a top 5 one in Clottey (yeh he was lucky) and then fought the best fighter of the last 2 decades at least Dawson whether you like it not, has beaten top LHWs in Adamek, Tarver, and Johnson. The fact that Tarver and Johnson were old isn't really his fault, they happened to be at the top. The fact is, until the arrival of Pascal and Cloud, 175 has been a senior citizens center. Also, the better Adamek does, the better his name looks on Dawson's resume. Williams has shown the ability to fight from 147 to 160 and fought ranked opponents along the way. No, Quintana, Phillips, Winky and Margarito aren't at the very top (or not anymore at least), but like I said, it's probably based more upon his style and talent.

Probably because Cotto's opposition has been better. Dawson and Williams are most likely there because of their talent. P4P lists are based upon skill and talent just as much as resume, IMO. I believe so too, but others think it should be solely based on who you faced.
