It seems like everyone is supporting Pacman more than they supported baldomir*(before the fight)* More than hatton *(before the fight)* More than Oscar *(before the fight)* and so on...
So will he get the respect if he beats pacman?
SD?
UD? (horrible picking apart)
Maybe even K.O.?
Just wanted to know what happens if floyd wins.. will it then be shane?Berto?Cotto?Margarito?
Not sure because it seems like we've all been down this "THIS IS THE GUY" road before right?
I personally think it would be floyds toughest fight ever after castillo and hernandez/oscar.
Doesn't change the fact that alot of people picked DLH and Hatton. Regardless of Mayweather being the favorite, atleast acknowledge that.
thats hollow though. its meaningless especially when Hatton has a lot of fans here. How are you going to expect his fans not to pick them?
If the polls were something like 60/40 in favor of Floyd, then YES, ALOT of people were giving Hatton and Baldy and DLH to upset Floyd. But they aren't the polls are LANDSLIDES.
Polls speak the truth. Threads are just bullshiit like your posts.

I'm quoting this because when I return i'm gonna make a thread putting you on blast. Watch, I have a whole bunch of shit threads from back in the days, posters talking about Baldo, Hatton beating Floyd. You think I wasn't around in those days? Haha. A whole bunch. Prepare yourself son, im'a call you out on your fairy tale posts.

yeah....
even quicker...
(floyd+bike) = win = little more respect
If you want to know why, read my previous post.
Thanks.. because that post was loooong.. i read most of it though.

are you trying to tell me baldomir has supporters? other than his family that rides around in the rv? they bet on mayweather btw.
no..no matter who floyd beats there will be an excuse not to give him credt.....after he beats pacman the main excuse will be "pacman was to small"..
There can't be any excuses after PAC beating Cotto, being the WW champion and considered an ATG...
If PBF wins he will get credit...and still he will continue fighting and proving it to other WW's, maybe unification if he wins over PAC
jeez. too long. lemme sum it up for you.
floyd on his bike.

Floyd will never get full respect.
If he beats Manny it will be "Manny was too small" or "Floyd just outboxed him".
Then if he continued on and beat Mosley, "Mosley was old"
no..no matter who floyd beats there will be an excuse not to give him credt.....after he beats pacman the main excuse will be "pacman was to small"..
Here's my take on this. And yes, I know I have few posts.
Boxing, by definition, changes from person to person. Additionally, there tends to be more weight placed on a particular style of boxing.
All in all it would appear that most people, including myself and many others on these forums...AND boxing analysts in general, tend to lean towards a style of boxing that is offense-minded.
For shits and giggles, let's take the Mayweather-Hatton fight and the Pacquiao-Cotto fight as extreme opposites to demonstrate my point.
Mayweather clearly outboxed Hatton using excellent defensive tactics, where he put effective offense second (counter-punching). The end result was a fairly one-sided outcome that had Hatton counting stars. The opponent was systematically broken down using a defense/offense style. It was defense first with offense following soon afterwards.
Pacquiao fought the opposite way against Cotto. He was offense first, defense second. He also systematically broke down his opponent over the course of the fight, but did it with offense first and defense following suit. Fast/hard punches being his tour de force.
Both won impressively, but under different circumstances. Defense/offense (Mayweather) vs. offense/defense (Pacquiao).
Your average viewer, fight fan, analyst, will apparently put more weight on a win that comes from the offense/defense style. That's just the way it is.
With that type of thinking, it's not too much of a wonder that Floyd will get little credit (weight) for his wins when he consistently wins in a defensive/offensive fashion.
Honestly, did you ever hear people complain about Tyson knocking out another opponent...AGAIN!
I will say this, though...from a style perspective, i believe Floyd fought more in the offense/defense style for the Marquez fight. I gave him props for that. Unfortunately that win, outside of the style shift, carries little weight. I believe any top tier welterweight could have beaten Marquez that night, but none could have done it as easily with Floyd's style. And that's about as much props as you'll get from me for that win.
As for the match-up w/ Pacquiao and the possibility for respect? I believe Floyd has to at least hurt Pacquiao and put him in deep water. A win on defense/offense will not be enough, I don't think. If he fights more like he did against Marquez then he will garner more respect. He can statistically win the fight, but he cannot statistically win respect if he only taps his punches and moves.
And that's the thing...right now Pacquiao shows excellent ring generalship against his opponents and commands the style of the fight. Add to that fast, hard combinations that do damage and you have someone the public respects.
In this matchup, Floyd needs to turn that table so he is the person with the better ring generalship, has a style that commands the fight, and connect with combinations that are strong enough to hurt pacquiao.
If Floyd can do this, then Floyd haters or critics have no real choice but to concede to the guy for a great fight, just like many Pacquiao doubters conceded to his great performance last 14th of November.
he wasnt saying that hes not going to give floyd full credit
hes saying that alot of people on this board wont when floyd beats pac.
i mean look at the post i responded to above.
that guy basically said that if floyd wins the FLoyd-pac fight by sd or even UD. hes not going to get credit if he doesnt come out of the fight marked up.
hes saying that floyd is going to have to sit there and get hit, then he still has to win to get credit...what kind of bs is that?
thats why larry said what he said
Oh...well see, if there was ever a definition for Hater that'd be it lol...Honestly if Mayweather beats Pacquiao that would cement his legendary status and vice versa in my opinion...
I dont know what you mean when you say we all thought oscar and ricky "were the guy" before the fight. Because they both were clearly gonna lose (at least in my mind).
But if he fights manny and beats him I think he deserves to be the #1 WW, but that doesnt mean he should stop fighting altogether.
no..no matter who floyd beats there will be an excuse not to give him credt.....after he beats pacman the main excuse will be "pacman was to small"..
Oh my gosh man be real...Pacquiao just dominated arguably the best welterweight, Pacquiao has proved himself beyond reasonable belief, what other opponents of Mayweather can you say that about? If Mayweather beats Pacquiao, I give him FULL CREDIT and we all should man Pacquiao is a beast.
PS, I have Mayweather winning that fight by decision anyways.
funny you say that because i'm running threw the advanaced search and you have a history of making threads that start like this, "mayweather fans". I find that funny and your thinking about making such a thread :lol1:
<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
Exactly my point. Did you not see what I was trying to do? Fact is, the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY has chosen Floyd in his last fights. So these "everyone picked Floyd to lose" threads need to stop.
As a matter of fact, why don't we make a thread about the usual PBF fans who CONSISTENTLY have picked Pac to lose to DLH, Hatton and Cotto and yet continue to discredit Pac's wins? I think that would be more interesting is that they want to claim Pac has done the same things PBF has, yet, it's not any more special when he wins regardless of the fact they didn't think he would. Can we do that Dom? Can we hold hands while we do it?

You simply said "Everyone". Doesn't change the fact that alot of people picked Hatton.

That would probably have a lot to do with how much trash he talks before the fight and whether people perceive him to be running during the fight or skillfully outclassing Pacquiao. If he merely wins a SD or even UD and has no marks to show that he fought 'the good fight' then he will not likely get respect or accolades.
So what you're saying is that close to double picked Mayweather over Hatton? What percentage is that my homay and is that enough to constitute an overwhelming majority or "everyone"?
You simply said "Everyone". Doesn't change the fact that alot of people picked Hatton.
