Why are people saying Pacquiao's style is "tailor-made" for Floyd?

Whilst Manny was impressive last night, I think it proved that he will be outboxed by Floyd if they ever fight. When Cotto fought smart and kept Pac at a distance, Pac had no answer. He will need Floyd to stand and trade at some point, and I can't see Mayweather doing that against Pac if he didn't do it against JMM.

Floyd huggers say that, but it can also work the other way around. Manny lands so many punches that Mayweather will need add a third hand for his defense..

is it because of the head movement? is it because of the way he bursts through his opponents defense with his quite ridiculous speed? If anything, Manny's style is the PERFECT style to beat Floyd because: A. he can counter punch, quickly, B. He can break down a defense with his speed faster than his opponent can realize what's happening. C. He showed last night, he has TREMENDOUS power to match that speed. What's the best way to penetrate a tough defense? Speed. And Pacquiao's got a whole heaping f*cking lot of it. I predicted Pac to beat Hatton and Cotto, but he will get beat in a one sided fight against Floyd. Floyd has far more speed then anyone Pac has fought, far better defense, doesnt take risks and is accurate as hell. Floyd easy UD. Id love to see Pac KO him though.

Well, truthfully if you think about it, Pac doesnt like movement. Think about when he got to cotto, when cotto was flatfooted and initiated contact and traded. Yes speed kills, but if mayweather isnt STANDING THERE trading and waling away (which we know he doesnt do) then its a difficult fight. Pac will honestly have to catch up to him. pacs style is excellent for guys who are willing to trade, but mayweather isnt going to be just standing there looking to impose himself. Not to mention floyds inside fighting is relentless when he wants to use it. Its not an easy fight, you have to look at why he was able to beat cotto, and think about when cotto moved, pac didint like it at all and literally had no answer until he slowed down. Cotto also leaned in to alot of pacs punches when pac came from an angle, mayweather isnt going to do sh!t like that. There are few mistakes for pac to capitolize on with mayweather and there are more for mayweather to capitolize on pac, thats why its a tough fight. Same thing I was discussing with my brother during and after the fight last night. Mayweather will not slow down, plant his feet or get into exchanges. When Cotto boxed, he would snap Pac's head back. Mayweather may not be as strong as Cotto, but his punches are much more accurate and his defense is much, much better. Second, Cotto's bad habit (if there was one that Roach exploited) was that every time Cotto squated or ducked down, Pacquiao would capitalize by coming in with a variety of punches AS Cotto was coming back up. It happened several times during the fight. I actually think Pac/PBF would be more competitive than PBF's last fight, but I think Mayweather pulls out the victory, having to deal with a little adversity in rounds 2, 3, 5, and 6...don't ask why. Floyd won't allow the distance to be so close that manny will be able to use those angles. Everytime Floyd even thinks Manny is coming in he'll take a step shoot that jab to the body or lead with that left hook followed by a push. If manny does close the distance he'll get a steady dose of Mayweathers forearm to his throat. I see pac having a couple moments but I don't see him doing enough damage to slow Mayweather down. This fight will be fought at a distance and Floyd will break out his jab like he did against Marquez. Alot of flurries from pac that will get the people excited but won't land clean. Mainly Manny wants to be involved in fights, one of the better ways to beat a real good fighter is not to engage unless it is to your advantage and frusterate them thus making them much less effective when there is actual fighting. Mayweather is a master at making other fighters ineffective and frusterating them. It will be an interesting fight a huge contrast in styles, but I still think that Floyd has what it takes to beat Manny over 12 rounds.

Ya, but is he as quick as Mayweather? I've yet to see quicker step-in-step-out jab like Mayweather does. He will also be able to keep Manny at a distance with his reach advantage. Picture the first 4 rounds of Judah/Mayweather, times 3. Floyd's more dominating performance of JMM is about as relevant as Cotto's more dominating perf of 3 common opponents and Pac's of 2, to Mayweather.

If Pacquiao were tailor made for Floyd, he wouldn't be southpaw, he wouldn't be fast or have power, and wouldn't have an unpredictable attack from unconventional angles. He'd be Carlos Baldomir.

Shoulder roll is not effective against Southpaws, that's 1 advantage lost. Exactly, Zab had him in kittens and he was only throwing 1-2 shots at a time. I'm not saying Floyd can't win this but it's pretty much 50/50 whoever fights their fight on the night wins and it wont really mean they are the best. I could see a trilogy.

pac will have to chase floyd down, throw punches in bunches, and use his speed. if floyd does counter pac, it wont hurt pac it will just make pac off balanced like marquez did to pac. as long as pac dont get countered a whole lot, pac will win. the reason marquez gave pac so much trouble is cuz JMM is a good counter puncher, but JMM will also come towards you and isn't scared to trade. Floyd is a great counter puncher, but he will just hit and run.
