Bob Arum: Cotto is not the Star in the fight vs Pacquiao

During the Pac vs Cotto Press Conference held this afternoon at MGM, Arum said, in this fight with Pacquiao, Cotto is not the star... :D why you wanna make cotto stans cry more?

There was no need for Arum to say that so he said it to take a shot at Cotto because he and Cotto don't get along very well. Cotto's was very vocal when Arum took Margarito side in the whole plaster thing and Arum never got Cotto a fight with De La Hoya even when Cotto was asking for it and even told Merchant after the Abdulaev fight that he wanted De La Hoya. Arum is just speaking the truth. It's not like he's lying or something. :D

watch how much that comment changes if Cotto just happends to win and they try to make a fight with Mayweather. Then Arum will try to use those numbers to act like Cotto is the biggest star in the world. That fight has almost no chance of happening immediatly for that very reason. Floyd may give in some to Pac and vice versa but no way will he give in to a Cotto who hasnt sold anything ever, espicaly after Arum said that nearly all the success of this fight will be due to Pac

Also, Bob said Pac sold 800,000 PPV in his last fight with Ricky and will probably match or surpass that number again while Miguel will sell 70,000 PPV in PR this Saturday. :D

I think Arum, though a jerk, might be playing it both ways this time. He hypes Pacquiao and if he wins, great, everything goes as planned. He sells Cotto short and Cotto wins, he becomes the next big thing he beat the "invincible" Pacquiao in a fight that he was not "supposed to win". He knows that the fight is 50/50 so even his lame antics may have another purpose. Those are my two cents and I could be wrong.

Arum is an idiot. Why not say two great champions and boxing stars in a mega fight. Why cut one down. Pac is more popular, but he still didn't need to say it. Cotto looks like a stepping stone for Pac now, which is not what this fight is. It is a 50/50 match between two warriors of the ring in what could be the fight of the year. Why not promote that Mr. Arum?

We know. Arum dyin for Cotto to lose so Pac can try Mr boat buyer and he can make Marg-Cotto 2. the funny thing is, mr boat buyer was really the one who said that "arum must want cotto to lose". Seeing as how mayweather was once apart of that stable, i think he probably saw/knew that arum had no intention of truely pushing cotto as opposed to just taking advantage of his potential puerto rican fanbase.

Cotto will be feeling like he's just Pacquiao's stepping stone for what have Bob said. :D

Arum has done a horrible job promoting Cotto.. He says Cotto isn't the star..When Arum could have played it way different than that.. two great champions meeting in the ring..ect ect. he says Cotto will acquit himself four times..acquit is basically a synonym for behave, or even redeeming oneself. If I were a hardcore Cotto fan, I'd be pissed.
