People think that Chad is getting hated on just because he is a pure boxer who looks to score points. Antonio Margarito had Williams in a more shaky position than Johnson did against Dawson in the second fight, and he still won the 12th round and didn't fight like a jack rabbit. Dawson needs to take notes. Williams is an accumulative puncher and not a one punch KO artist similar to Chad, and he still puts exclamation points on his wins unlike Dawson does.
I am actually not one of these guys calling Dawson a pussy and a runner like some of the real venomous haters on this forum are. I'm just pointing out why he is getting some flack from people who can't stand him.
People just can not appriciate a fine boxer I guess.
Even if Dawson and Williams were the same size I am pretty sure Dawson would outbox Williams, those straight lefts would be there all day for Dawson.
I just don't get it bro... In the last 2yrs he is 5-0 against top 5 LHW. He fights top level fighters and wins. He has giving up championships in order to face the better opposition. And, people still hate on him. I just can not understand this.
And really this thread is about who is the more exciting fighter even though I mentioned something about a potential head to head match up. Williams is a way more exciting fighter, and he doesn't really have a fan base either. Life is tough. So I don't understand why Dawson's fans are complaining.

A Dawson-Williams fight is 50-50 to me already. If they were the same size, I would favor Paul easily. Just so he doesn't show up like he did against Quintana in the first fight throwing arm punches.
Chad Dawson would shut out Paul Williams. 50-50? Surely you're joking.
I said the same thing when I saw that.
Moving down to 168? Maybe not so much haha.
Yeah man, he looks very, very strong at LHW. No way he goes down to 168 (not like he was gonna be able to anyway). Besides, his division is starting to cook a little bit.
When you fight the likes of Johnson and Tarver in your last four fights, you ain't going to be scoring a KO.
Those guys are both very durable especially Johnson.
Dawson has good power imo.
the opponents have alot to do with 'power' also, dawsons power is underrated, and there aint anyone knockin out glen johnson, adamek or tarver(even tho he had both ready to go)
and he did fight johnson and tarver twice, so that's just adding more of an illusion that he cant hurt you
I can't argue with that. I remember catching him live against Jesus Ruiz and being impressed by his pop. I do think his opponent's have a lot to do with it. But I still belive Williams has much more pop. His left is a one-hitter quitter.
Williams can hit harder in a P4P sence, he has put dudes to sleep and what he did to Quintana in teh rematch is not something that could be done by someone who can not really crack. Williams is like a pitcher though he changes up the speed/power of his punches but when he wants to put a hurting blow on someone he certainly has it in him.
I think Dawson can hit also but most of his recent fights are against tough/crafty guys. Five of Dawson last seven fights are against Tarver, Johnson and Adamek those were all fights that went the distance but who at 175 is really stopping those guys, when he faced less tough opposition in the other two of his last seven fights he got TKO. Dawson does not have huge power but that straight left of his is a wicked punch, if he faces soemone who is not insanely hard to knock out maybe he can get better results.
Pound for pound, Williams hits much harder than Dawson. It doesn't show as often because, like Joe Calzaghe, he sorta mixes those big punches in between loads of flurries. But he's flattened a few people, certainly a lot more than Chad.

and for someone with no power he sure had Tomasz Adamek ready to go after one punch, i think what ya'll meant is ''Dawson lacks the killer instinct'', which i agree on
It would have to be at 168. I don't know how competitive it would be at 175, because Williams hasn't fought any higher than Middleweight. I'm just saying like someone did above, that Dawson is not this super fighter that people make him out to be and he's beatable. He just needs to get in there with an opponent that can threaten him.
Um Williams has a better stamina and workrate than Dawson, but that's about it. Dawson is much better defensively, FASTER, and most importantly can fight at a higher weight class. The reason Williams would lose is because he would lose speed trying to fight at LHW or SMW.
to everyone that does'nt know anything about boxing: Chad Dawson is the same height as Paul Williams, only thing is chad dawson is actually packin muscle and is at 175, paul williams is'nt carrying anything but his testicles, it's easy to punch none stop when your that skinny
I admit that it wouldn't be my first choice. I'm just saying that it's not out of the realm to discuss the match up. Didn't Dawson call Paul out at one time?
The only way P-Will is a threat to Dawson. Is if Dawson is drained from makin 168. If Dawson is a 100% he is wins.
