Pernell Whitaker - Wilfredo Rivera I
James Toney - Dave Tiberi (obviously)
Erik Morales - Guty Espadas I
Whitaker was completely flat from his drug use and underprepared for the fight. He was lucky to escape with the win. This was the first fight you could visibly see the effects of his partying (in a significant way).
Toney was the same way against Tiberi. Underprepared, flat, unmotivated. He's lucky that shows up as a W on his record. Tiberi out-hustled him for much of the fight and James shockingly came out on top.
Morales was pretty uninspired against Espadas in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I don't think he lost the fight, but I think he looked pretty lethargic that night. I actually thought he looked good against Barrera in their first fight and had him winning by a point even with the BS knockdown.
Anyone who thinks Hopkins-Winky is Hopkins worst fight clearly hasn't seen Hopkins-Eastman....
Who do you pick for Mijares and Hasegawa?
I pick:
Morales - Barrera I
Williams - Margarito
Dirrell - Stevens
Wright - Soliman
WORD
Dawson vs. Johnson. Even though I believed he one and so did the judges, many had problems with the decision because of some big rounds by Johnson. Chad squeeked that one out.
This weekend will erase that.
whens the rematch? didn't he want to prove he's great? getting a gift decision, fighting shot jones jr then retiring surely proves greatness.....
guess he was proving his greatness vs those tomato cans for ten years. chavez jr style! if only we had welsh fury back then.
still bitter
how sad

Yeah, especially in the second half of his career when he wasn't training as much. And he always had some trouble against Norton.
Still the GHOAT.
Yeah, I would have to agree with you about 2nd half of his career with the exception of THE THRILLER IN MANILA and big George. When Leon beat him it was definitely time to go bye bye!
you keep saying the low blows were fake when they weren't. no wonder you thought calzaghe won you can't see clearly. tell me how going to the wrong corner affects what actually happened in the round? did you score a couple rounds to calzaghe cause hopkins went to the wrong corner?
how about instead of saying all the things hopkins did to lose the fight you actually say what calzaghe did to win? oh wait he did nothing but threw a million air slaps like a frustrated amateur. hopkins controlled calzaghe for almost the entire fight. every time calzaghe would come in he would get hit and had to reset. he came forward alright right onto punches like a schmuck.
strange how you think froch lost to dirrell but calzaghe beat hopkins. it's the same exact fight but calzaghe missed more punches than froch and landed even less clean ones. is someone playing favorites here?

pac marquez 2
i think pac lost hehehe
so according to your avatar both mayweather and pacquiao are fighting for marquez deng!!! i think floyd makes more sense as the girl.
i had a hard time coming up with a win that wasnt convincing for me by marquez. Idk man!! i wish i could say the 2nd pacquiao fight cuz he got knocked down but imo he was robbed.
do you have some sort of device that goes off every time the c word is mentioned? you are worse than froch and that is saying something.
outboxed? if faking low blows, wasting time, going to the wrong corner after the rounds and headbutts is outboxing someone.
and by the way froch is not very skilled compared to those and the top level and lost against dirrell.

Ali had a few of those can go either way type fights and JimmyYoung was yes one of them.

Barrera I was so much worse for Morales... he obviously lost that fight IMO. I thought he won the Espadas fight, and that there really isn't much controversy. It's HBO that started the controversy, and I think that if people had watched the fight with the sound off and/or thought for themselves instead of quoting what Merchant and Lampley say, there would be a lot less outcry for Espadas getting robbed.
He hurt his hand in a lot of fights, but I never really saw it bother him or affect his game plan in the least. I don't know which fight you are talking about.
By the way, he did clearly beat Espadas. I guarantee, if people hadn't heard HBO acting like Espadas was dominating the fight, there would be a hell of a lot less uproar about this fight.
And to whoever said that it was close enough to grant a rematch... fair, it was, but it's also true that regardless of whether you think you won or lost a fight, it's more important what the general public thinks, and since a lot of people thought Espadas won, I think that is why he took the rematch, not so much because he needed to avenge the "loss" that was counted as a win on his resume.
Announcers can really influence people on who's winning a fight.
Espada did better than expected against an undefeated Erik that was beating the shit out of everyone (sans Barrera). I know if I go back to score that fight, I'll see it in the 116-112 to 118-110 range for Morales.
