Andre Dirrell is faster, more skilled, and has nearly equal power as Carl Froch. If he fights Froch again, he will win easily.
IMO this is a case of a fighter that didn't have enough experience to get the decision. If Froch thinks he won that fight easily, he's very mistaken. Not only was Dirrell visably quicker, his shots had more snap and he landed the more effective blows. I personally think that Dirrell won the fight, but admit it was a close call.
I think if these two meet on a more neutral site later on down the line in this tournament, Dirrell wins an easy decision.
Yep,inexperience cost him. I had him winning by a round, maybe a draw. He will kick himself when he watches it back. He could have won at a canter if he used his head.
That said, I give him credit, and he shouldnt feel bad. This is a fantastic learning fight for him at this stage of his career, and could be the making of him.
Yeah it was close anyway you look at it. Froch fought like an experienced pro, even though Dirrell was superior in speed and skillls, he put in the work to get a decision, especially in his home town.
So yeah I tip my hat to Froch, he's gritty, and that goes a long way. But let's just say this.
The rest of this super six better hope Abraham beats Dirrell. Because if Dirrell makes it to the semi finals, good luck! Dirrell by that time will be experienced and have all the tools he's already working with. I was very impressed with Dirrell and look forward to watching him again. Although the Abraham matchup is a tough one, Dirrell probably has the skill to match everyone in this tournament.
I think so too, when Dirrell finally settled down and turned it up he was making a mockery of Froch (11th round in particular) if they fight again he'll realise he can easily get off first with his way faster hands and box circles around Froch with his superior footwork giving him hell for 12 rounds and a clear UD or late stoppage
Regardless of what happens in the rest of the tournament, I think Dirrell will draw a lot of confidence from this fight, and be a real power in the divisions future
I have no interest in seeing Dirrell ever again. I payed to see a war not a scrappy, hug fest. The only boxers that come to fight in the super six are Froch, Kessler, and Abraham. Can you imagaine how bad Ward vs Dirrell is going to be? Green needs to replace Taylor quick to add some American heart and courage to this tournament.
I'd agree with this.
That said, Dirrell wouldn't be able to walk through Froch, not that he ever would. Froch would land that way, as slow as he is.
He would not to put his foot on the pedal more. I think Dirrell was worried about the 12-round distance it being his first time and knowing Froch is a strong 12-round-fighter.
He didn't lose last night...
He was robbed, that decision annoyed me more than any other. It was an undefeated untested american who was going to the champions hometown in unknown territory and most though hed get KO'd and he put on a clinic only to get robbed.
