As good as his chin was, no way he woulda kept taking those shots without being down and out...my question is, what woulda been more embarrasing? Being Knocked out by a way smaller opponent or going out the way he did?
You are correct Mr. Threadstarter! Had DLH had not quit, he was getting the worst beating in his life that he did not want to get knocked out by a MIDGET!
again. i dont give a shit about the judges cards. anyone watching that fight and looking at connect percentages saw DLH wasnt landing much of anything.
floyd has been fighting guys bigger than him, while pac was fighting guys smaller than him.
Floyd called out Cotto and mosley who both didnt want to fight him. they ducked him, he didnt duck them.
Floyd even said he would fight Marg but if he did, he wanted cotto as well for 10mil. Top rank didnt wan tto agree to that so floyd moved on.
so stay in your fantasy land of floyd ducking and dodging when you know its the furthest thing from the truth.
haters love to lie and never state thefacts
BS. Floyd didn't land shit until the second half of the fight when he took over the score cards. De la Hoya jabbed the shit out of Floyd and made it look easy the first half, but hurt his shoulder. He kept lazily throwing his jab with less force and his accuracy suffered because of that.
Floyd never called out Margarito or Cotto. You're delusional for even mentioning that. He turned down $9 mil to fight Margarito to fight Baldomir for $8 mil. Floyd took less money for less risk. You have your facts all screwed up. You hate on every fighter except your boy Floyd. I'm done arguing with a retard.

I don't think Oscar would have been stopped but apart from that being KO:d and carried out is always worth more respect then qutting in your corner. Fighting is fighting and quitting is quitting.

^^^^^^ What a dildo :bryce:
yes B class fighters. just like cotto.
either you are an elite fighter or you arent. there are no levels of elite.
who gives a shit about DLH's resume when he lost all of his big fights...period.
thats like saying. i have a great resume b/ci fought the best fighters of my time and LOST, haha, shut the fukk up
Pac fought people out of their prime and lost to JMM.
Cotto will get his ass beat by floyd
Pac fought people out of their prime? He beat the best and biggest names at the weight classes he competed in. Now he's taking on one of the top Welterweights who Floyd ducked for years. May also ducked Mosley and Margarito. Saying you wanted to fight Mosley and actually doing it are 2 different things. Who did Manny duck? Juan Diaz? Guzman? Who the f*ck is he? Sorry, but Joan Guzman never deserved a shot and has never proved himself to be elite against a top fighter. Pac even fought Hatton at his best weight, while Floyd forced him to move up like did he against Marquez. Pac moves up to fight bigger competition, which is something Floyd used to do but now he makes smaller guys move up to fight him, rather than accept challenges from real Welterweights. He is afraid of risking his 0, and I wouldn't be surprised if he fought someone smaller like Bradley, or even Guzman.
DLH B-class? Who gives a shit about his resume? Critics, fans, and the entire boxing world gives a shit. He almost beat your man-crush Floyd, so what does that make him. You believe JMM beat Pac. Fair enough. Then, Jose Luis Castillo beat Floyd the first time.
shows you dont know your history. DLH could never beat the opponents in his biggest fights.
DLH is a B class fighter just ilke Pac
Pac and Oscar B class? What the hell are you thinking? YOU don't know boxing history. First of all, learn to proof read. Second of all, yeah Oscar came up short in some of his big fights, but he beat Quartey, Vargas, Whitaker, and Chavez (the latter two were passed their prime, but they were still the top two guys at 140 and 147). Oscar was screwed against Trinidad and Mosley the second time. He was never outclassed in his losses except against Pacquiao and never knocked out except for the Hopkins match (which he was very competitive in against the much bigger guy). You are entitled to your own opinion, but my opinion is that De la Hoya has one of the best resumes in boxing history.

Wow. It's really hard to believe how much of a clown you are.

No i don't think so. Pacquiao's power is still there and actually it improved more than anything else. Pacquiao, just because of his destruction of 140 pounds champ Hatton, is a real challenge for Cotto to prove he's the best at 147.
Cotto 58% Pacquiao 42%, it's a hard fight for both but as i explained too many times Pacquiao should have stayed at 140 and Cotto has exactly the tools to annihilate Pacquiao's assets.
why do you want pacquiao to stay at 140? where the guy (pac) is doing exellent and confident fighting those "natural welts"(whose picking a lightweight oponents)?
its not like he's fighting there just to get KO.. he's got the ability, talent..
speed.. and most of all.. POWER!!
Cotto has exactly the tools to annihilate Pacquiao's assets.
well i must say pacquiao has its own tools to put cotto on canvas!!:tool:
Yeah Floyd buckled Oscar, but he seemed more surprised than hurt, otherwise Oscar wouldn't have continued to move forward. I think De la Hoya had the right game plan and probably would have beat Floyd in his prime. He made the first 5 rounds look easy with his jab.
Pacquiao had Oscar backing up, hiding, and laying on the ropes, which is something Floyd never did. Look at Oscar's face after both fights and tell me who landed the better/harder punches. Manny only 8 rounds while Floyd had the full 12 to do damage. Floyd did fight the bigger, better version of Oscar, but everyone seems to forget that the Mayweather- De la Hoya rematch was scheduled to take place at 147-150, which is why Oscar fought Forbes at 150. But Floyd retired, canceling the rematch, so he challenged Pac instead.
Floyd fought a much smaller Marquez who was worn from coming off 3 wars against bigger guys. Floyd didn't even try to make weight and had at least a 10-15 lb advantage, landed a lot of flush shots and still couldn't finish him. Pac is no god and has flaws, but he isn't overrated like Floyd.
Although when Manny fought Oscar he wan't the same fighter that when against Mayweather. But I still believed Manny would be too fast for him and that's what gave him trouble, but de La Hoya needed the extra strength to hurt Pacquiao and slow him down. But I do believe a younger Oscar De La Hoya would've had a much easier time with Mayweather Jr. and would've beaten him.
manny hit DLH with everything he had over all the rounds and couldnt drop him. Floyd buckled DLh with two rights against a much stronger and healthier opponent.
so much for Pacs "POWER" dude is overated

Roach put money on a round 9 KO. Manny tried to give him a gift but Oscar quit before it could happen.
Oscar would have been knocked the **** out had he stayed in there for another round or two.
Does anyone really think he would have made it to the last bell? Come on now.
Don't be fooled by Oscar saying Pacquiao's shots don't hurt either. He's saying that to avoid further embarrassment of being punished by a smaller man who he should have blown out in a few rounds.
Exactly!!!!
So that only proves Pacquiao is really a blown up WW right? That he shouldn't be fighting @ 147lbs as everyone wanted the Cotto fight. Also implying that he basically has no chance against Cotto who is going to be more natural and comfortable, in his prime, with power? Well, you my friend just might be right! :nana:

What's more embarassing is that people think that was the REAL DLH in there.
Was it a De La Hoya clone?
Everybody knew which version of Oscar was coming in to fight Manny.
That's the reason why the fight was made. It made things a little bit more even. We ALL knew that his best days were past him.
But, everybody thought that despite that fact...he would still be too much for Pacquiao.
Wrong.
???he fought 2 middleweights...got a gift decision to sturm and was ko'd by hopkins
When i say middleweights i include junior middleweights like Vargas, Castillejo, or 154 Mosley too. All those guys are stronger than Pac.
DLH has a granite chin and even though Pac has a lot of power, i believe DLH could have gone the distance if his corner and the ref were stupid enough to let him do that. But DLH quit as we know so this thread is useless.
That was an unhealthy, past his prime De la Hoya who still had a great chin that night, but the accumulation of punches would have caught up to him. Also, Manny wasn't really sitting down on his punches as he usually does because he didn't want to get countered. Roach advised him before Round 9 to go for broke, but Manny never had the chance. The iron chin Margarito took the best Mosley had to throw, but the accumulation of those flush shots eventually wore him down. Same would have happened with Oscar, but the ref would have probably stopped the fight before anyways.
I know this is an old subject, but why the hell did Oscar weigh 145 two weeks prior to the fight. I have been watching boxing since I was a little kid during the Hagler years and I never seen any fighter do that. Yeah, it wasn't Oscar's fault for being past his prime, but he is definitely an idiot for weighing in under 147 2 ****ing weeks before the fight! I am no boxer or nutritionist, but I know that is very unhealthy thing to do for an athlete. The body will adjust to that weight after 2 weeks and it would be almost impossible to rehydrate in only 24 hours. He is lucky he didn't get seriously injured that night, as dehydration not only effects his the body but the brain as well.
What? Floyd is unbeatable..I thought you knew?, plus you dont want those pics than dont ask for them.
REally Sad and
just
FYI
Flaud is beatable but too conservative to fight a real challenger
I heard he is targeting Juanma next and is only going to ask him to jump4 weight divisions
