He needs better footwork ASAP.
bingo. footwork won the fight for vitali
cris spent a lot of time standing in front, squared up and flat-footed. he tried to block and then go but we know how that went
I agree. The Klitschko's are just so dedicated and in great shape all the times. None of these lady fat boxers are gonna do it. I mean if Arreola wanted that fight so bad, why wasn't he in better shape?
That's part of the character building experience that will make Arreola a champion. No fighter can go all his fights undefeated...not a HW anyway. Look what happened to Wladimir. He got ahead of himself and lost. Now he is doing very well. Wladimir is a champion because of his dedication and experience and skill. Arreola has the skill, needs more dedication in terms of not having that beer. His time will come.
Lampley is just someone who "gets it", good for him to maybe light a fire under the asses of the Heavyweights around the world who want to hold that title.
Chris isn't athletic. You can see it in his movement from the legs up. That is why he has to reach and is thrown awkwardly off balance when he does it. Like a fat kid reaching for the cookie jar on a bar-stool (that twirls around with movement).
The Klitschko brothers are dedicated to the sport unlike many boxers today.
Vitali is is just to skilled for this lot.
The Crowd should have shown more respect and not have booed him.
It's their job. Their profession. And the treat it that way. I think partly it's an Eastern European/Soviet thing. Alexander Karelin was the same way.
"I train every day of my life as they have never trained a day in theirs."
American heavyweights are not going to beat a Klitschko being out of shape, fair criticism by Lampley.
True!!!
The HW landscape has changed soo much in the US over the last 5 - 7 years, where we don't have that totally physically fit fighter's anymore - we just have large\Obease fighters.
The Klitchko's are tall, extremely well conditioned boxers and the only one I can remember who could deal with them was Lennox Lewis.
After Lewis ... "Forget about it".
HW's in the US have a long way to go, to get back on top.
He didn't tire out early and didn't get KO'd, which proves he was in decent condition. Could've been a different story had he been in Vitali's shape.
I think he needed to pop his jab more and pressed the action and throw combinations like he promised.
Yeah, you could tell that Jim was pissed off by the lack of dedication Heavyweight have todya. I know alot of people miss Mike now. This two would have been straight victims in '88.
