I'd go with Frazier based on the competition faced. Prime Mike obviously had the better speed and reflexes, but Joe carried his attribute through his ages applying it to many great fighters.......except Foreman.
Who the hell said Joe Louis? Dud got knocked down a million time and got countered to DEATH by Joe Walcott . Walcott could be compared to those 2.
Frazier had the higher slipping rate in heavyweight history, but Tyson had better athleticism and reflexes.
I pick Tyson but it could go either way.
Can i ask you, how did tysons defense "appear" to be great? It wasnt just an illusion, he was technically sound when he had his original team around him, other than an oscassional uppercut through his gaurd, his tremendous speed wasnt some llusion.
Tyson's "great" defense would only last a few rounds. After that it was very ordinary. Check the tapes if you don't believe me. Frazier was a consistent and legtitimate 15 round fighter.
id say fraizer simply because he slipped punches from much better fighters..but tysons defense "appeared"to be great

Louis would slip the occasional punch or two but most of the time he would stand straight and try to pick them off. I don't think he can be compared to Frazier or Tyson in this regard.
Dynamite Kid said it best. I do think that Frazier had more to his game than often given credit for, he was usually relentless but he could also patiently pick an opponent apart as he did against Buster Mathis and George Chuvalo.
I agree, i found the joe louis comment puzzling from the other poster. I do find it hilarious that Jack Johnson became a Julio Cesar Chavez in terms of trying to piggyback another fighter to hold onto a previous legacy, or demean someone elses.
Regardless, i think your assesment is correct.
joe louis, before or after jack johnson pointed out his dropping of the left hand..?

Joe Louis. But sticking to those two ill go with Tyson. Unique poll.

Id say Tyson was better of working of the angles when he slipped punches (Carl Williams) but Frazier was better at slipping when applying consistent pressure.
End of Thread...Frazier would do it while coming after you better than Tyson...Mike's reflexes were faster though

Frazier and Tyson had similar movement but the young tyson pre-jailtime had far more speed, and his counters were devastating with both hands equally. I would say tyson.
I think both of them has earned their credit in this category!
i'll give it to Joe though. look at the Thrilla in Manilla, he slipped A LOT of punches! While Tyson at the end of his career didnt have that much head movement. What im basically saying is that Joe was as good for a longer amount of time.:boxing:
