I just read where BHop said he would accommodate Paul Williams at 170 since the recent cancelling of the Williams/Pavlik fight. I dont know how serious he may be, but he could be biting off more then he could chew at this point.
People crack me up. First of all, it's a shame Paul is not getting fights at WW. Schaefer is scared.
it's a shame a guy lives on the internet calling people out with fake contracts and it's also a shame a guy as big as williams bitches to fight 5-9 through 5-11 guys weighing 147 lbs. you and him are a joke go take his cock and shove it through your nostrils.
There are not many fighters out there for me Dawson, Adamek and Williams are three possible fights but all want to be paid too much because they know theres a more than good chance they will lose. If these fighters don't have big fan bases or big names and they want a good split at the same time it wont work, if HBO put big money on the table then we can do it but I'm the champ and these fighters need to take what they can get because i'm the man to beat.
Adamek brings a good Polish crowd. But he is talking about fighting Golota. So I can see the conflict of interest there.

I dont think Williams is ready for someone like me but you know what they say in boxing, money talks. If HBO and the people want it then i'll oblige.
Williams has said he wants to fight you. It takes two to tango. So why not? I think it is the wrong fight to happen for boxing overall because it could ruin Williams or make him look bad even if he wins a decision against you. And I'm saying that as a fan of both you and Williams. I just think there's other options for Williams at this point. But a part of me actually wants to see it because I don't want you to wait around and take a fight with another guy like Adamek or Dawson without knocking off some ring rust. That is one aspect I like about the fight. But I'll be rooting for you when it happens even though I like Williams too. He views you as a weak link on your way out like Pavlik did, and it would be kind of an opportunistic move on his part since you are 44 years old. But he's got to get his name out there some way, so I can't blame him at the same time. I just always root for the old guard to defy logic.
I would actually give Williams the nod in a close fight that BHop would believe he won.
Williams has a high workrate and a huge reach, BHop is not active enough to win enough rounds.
I'd imagine it would be a razor thin UD or a SD for Paul Williams and BHop would claim robbery.
I'm still waiting on a source. I try to keep up on Hopkins articles as much as possible but I'm not seeing anything other than Schaefer entertaining the idea.
....and there it is...
natural lightheavy calling for another catchweight fight against somebody who never fought at supermiddle no less lightheavy and will get a ton of credit added to his already overrated career if he wins...
you buggin!!!!......P.Will isnt REALLY a WW.......I mean he did make the weight when needed.......but do you really think a dude his height is a NATURAL WW?!?......come on man!!!.......this is the SAME P.Will who called out Joe Calzaghe @168!!!

Second of all, styles make fights. Hopkins is not Quintana, and last time I checked Hopkins lost two fights to Taylor (although I had him winning both, they were that close). A guy who throws a billion punches, with both hands, from every angle, inside and outside, would drive Hopkins AT THIS AGE nuts. Holding and headbutting would not win him the fight. Sorry. Pavlik is a robot that comes one way. Williams is the opposite of that.
I think that pretty much sums it up.

Damn, we all know the term "Legend Killer", Bernard seems to be wanting the title of "Rookie Killer". At 170? We don't know how well Pauli's gonna perform. He'll actually fit well at that weight, but that also doesn't mean all his speed and power's going to transfer that easy too. If it does? Bernard could have a long night. But Bernard even at 45 is a crafty dude and has crazy ring smarts. There's a good chance he can outclass Williams to a decision.
The thing with all that is, BHop is actually going to have to do some punching if he plans on getting that shot off. Its hard to throw a hard accurate shot or any shot for that matter with so many other punches coming at you in return. Just like I think if Winky Wright would have tried to open up more with his offense against Williams, he would have likely been stopped from the non stop incoming.
You may be right but I think Hopkins would tie him up with clenches and rabbit punch him to slow him down then straight right, duck, clinch.....again and again and again, all night.
I would be interested in this fight if it was signed. But I can't really say I'm dying for it either. For one, I've always been against catch weight fights even though Hopkins is one of my favorite fighters. The thing that separates Hopkins from Pacquiao though, is the fact that Hopkins is not trying to weight drain other fighters and he is the one doing the draining. He wouldn't ask Adamek to fight him under the Cruserweight limit unlike Pacquiao's cherry picking ass would if he was that big.
The reason why I'm more against the fight than for it is because there are other opponents out there for Williams to fight besides Hopkins. And even if Williams beats Hopkins, he isn't going to look good doing it. Nobody has. So how will his stock go up? This fight is a win-win for B-Hop and a lose-lose for Paul Williams. A lot of peoples' opinions of Calzaghe dropped dramatically because of his victory over Hopkins. Mine did, I'll have to admit. That wasn't a prime Hopkins and he still nearly beat Calzaghe.
Not a good fight for Williams. Hopkins is too smart and is a naturally bigger man who could have ko'd Pavlik but chose not to and could knock Williams down easily with a clean shot. It just depends on whether or not Williams can get up from getting tagged by a light heavy weight.
Williams could win but I don't think he will take the fight if offered, too dangerous.
