Dude has got to go back to the fundamentals that got him where he was. Being a power puncher and throwing one punch at a time, using the whole ring for 2 minutes to throw 3 punches isnt going to cut it as he moves up in weight and fights guys that ARENT 5'4.
His left hand was low the entire fight, and his reflexes are not to the point where he can just use head movement and come out of nowhere fight some straight right hand.
Conception was open all night for the same right hand everytime he walked in, jab or not, and Donaire just stared at him half the time running around occasionally throwing an uppercut.
Dumbazz mario lopez talking about "Hes so gifted like jones jr he can rely on reflexes"
Thats bullshit, if he did that against darchinyan hed be laying on the canvas like an infantile retard, he got to this stage using his excellent abilities as a boxer puncher as opposed to doing his best mayweather impersonation (without the defense).
I really hope he retools and rethinks that last fight, becuz conception is NOT that good to be giving him a hard fight like he did.
Clearly if you have seen donaire fight, and i have a good 10 times at this point, it had nothing to do with that guys size, to come to that conclusion is ridiculous on top of being asinine.
Donaire struggled because he abandoned technique and he abandoned fundamentals in favor of throwing one power punch at a time, rarely using the jab, dropping his left hand, and in some instances, just plain not throwing. He hardly kepts his hands up the whole fight and took unnessecary damage.
None of that has ANYTHING to do with Concepcion coming in overweight. At all.
Why would I trade punches to a guy who is much heavy and powerful when I can hit him while maintaining my distance and win an easy UD? Boxing is not about bravery... it's about intelligence and Donaire fought smart...
In boxing, you need to beat your opponent by all means... Not to lay your chin just to show to some stupid fans (like you for example) that you are brave...
Again, boxing is all about beating opponent by all legal means...
How can you call Donaire a runner with more than 60% of his power punches landed?...
You may call Concepcion chasing like a b itch though...
If Donaire stuck to the old Donaire, he could have had Concepcion out in 8 rounds. Stylewise, he was too one dimensional, and Nonito didn't capitalise on that.
Showboating only get's you so far, but sometimes it may not be convincing enough to win a fight when the competition is tougher. I hope Donaire goes back to his old ways.
You don't really know what the TS is talking about. Being fundamental means keeping your guard up, good lateral movement, jab to set up your punches, and throw combinations.
If you have some eyes its clear that Donaire was getting hit because hes dropping his hand, he allows himself to be pushed into the ropes, and just pop one punches at a time.
He was most effective when he was jabbing, forcing Conception to reset. The trainers were urging him to jab, to throw combinations. I'm a bit disappointed. He won the rounds, but he made it unnessarily difficult for him. He has the reach to jab, handspeed to throw combinations, and should have good fundamentals to keep some form of defense. Instead he was outjabbed, pushed to the ropes.
roy? all that running, i thought it was more like floyd
and agreed with everyone here; mr pink is a punk
Mario Lopez announced the fight was making that comparison. Mario Lopez is a fukkin moron.
I hate to say it, but mayweather has broken his hand countless times in many fights, some of which resulted in some rather boring finishes, but he never throws out fundamentals, ever. I hope thats the lesson nonito learns.
That remains to be seen. We will find out when he fights again. I was just responding to your post asking what Concepcion missing weight and Donaire throwing his fundamentals have anything to do with each other.
He tried to put away the much bigger man with hiis usual fundamentally sound style. It didnt work. To make things worse he broke his hand. He adjusted. Not the most effective or reccomended adjustment...but it got the job done.
I agree with Pink. He didnt have to run so much and he didnt have to throw his usual style out the window.
But the fact Donaire was fighting like his normal self fundamentally sound and throwing combinations in the 1st round was a clear indication that the fact Donaire broke his hand and Concepcion's extra weight were related. After that even when Donaire nailed Concepcion right on the button it didnt have the same effect that it had in the 1st round.

Im sorry, im not buying that excuse. Read Mr. Pink and Street bullys comments. They basically explain my position.

The reason Donaire was doing that he probalby knew that he couldn't KO Concepcion. Donaire was landing some good shots but couldn't even put him on the floor. Because he looks sloppy last night doesn't mean his gonna be like that with Darchinyan or any other fighter.
That isnt my point.
My point was that solid fundamentals got him where he is today, solid fundamentals got him the vicious knockout of darchinyan. Against Concepcion he showed none of that and fought a stupid fight in a lackluster performance. Fighting like that against darchinyan back in 07 would have landed his ass on the canvas was my point. It was as if he thought he was going to blast this guy in 3 and be done with it and he just kept coming. Thats why i said that.
Nonito was throwing counterpunches and combinations in the 1st round that rocked Concepcion's world. If he had been on weight he would have been dropped. Instead the extra weight Concepcion had broke Donaire's hand and that's what made him get on his bike and potshot.
Cmon man...Donaire was essentially fighting a featherweight on fight night.

Please explain to me what concepcion not making weight had ANYTHING to do with Nonito donaire looking as bad as he did. Please.
This thread is about his performance and him moving up in weight is not pertinent to that. He didint have to drain as much this time, Donaire looked bigger than concepcion in there, thats undeniable.

LOL, its Darchinyan, even a less skilled boxer such as Agbeko beat him. Nonito will KO him again or win by wide UD.
I really think you should read what i said.

he's a gifted fighter.
he has handspeed , height and reach for his weight class , good power.
some guys are just not meant to run around and dance fancy like that.
he had the power to back off rafael. he let rafael gain confidence by backing up so much. (kinda like cotto against marg)
with him running like that he took away his own power. no matter how strong you are you can't get power on your punches when your feet is not set.
don't know what's wrong with him but he needs to get his head together.
did he get big headed? listen to his good press too much?
don't know but him styling and gelling his hair for a fight and doing that silly show off kung fu/karate jump back on your feet makes me wonder.
I think so. He seems to have fell in love with himself. Still a very good fighter though, he needs to go bac to his usual style. He seemed to go prince hameD in there.

Donaire could land anytime he wanted everytime Rafeal reached with his jab. Rafeal was so square and so hittable, anytime concepcion barged in, Donaire dropped that uppercut on him, and then there were just points where it was like he didint want to fight. He also did something kostya tszyu used to do which is admire his own power as opposed to just finishing the job.
Your dumb man. Your funny too that you don't know what not making weight has to do with anything. hahahahaha! It has ALOT to do with. Let me explain something to you about boxing. Making weight does not just mean going into Jenny Craig and doing Richard Simmons aerobics. Making weight takes a toll on a fighters strength and stamina. It takes something out of a fighter to make weight. Donaire weighed in at 115 and his muscle tone and strength is that of a man 115. If donaire wanted to fight at 122 he would not just fatten up like a dumb ass like you would think but he would actually build muscle and strength to compete at that weight. Concepcion did not have to endure dehydration and the effects of trying to make weight and had the strength of a man a who would be heavier than fighters a weight class above. You are an idiot if you think the weight did not make a difference. The weight he weighed in he was over the batamweight limit fighting at super fly. What an idiot some of these haters are.
Its settled.
Im dumb.
Thank you for your contribution.
What does conception not making weight have to do with anything?
Also, "new weight" is also not all that big, god forbid you move from 112 to 115. talk to me when he moves to 122, then ill factor that in. not to mention donaires walk around weight is huge regardless, and he looked much bigger than conception.

i seriously doubt the penalosas trained him to fight like that.
don't know what the hell he's doing but if he doesn't go back to the basics of keeping his left up and just boxing , he's gonna get ktfo.
he doesn't throw enough combos , relies on one or two punches at a time , that wannabe flashy defense does nothing for me.
he has hand speed and power.
stick to the basic fundamentals. keep your hands up and just box.
the reason he was getting tagged was because his dumb ass was doing all that fancy , worthless movement.
how about you just block punches nonito? instead of dancing like a clown. let the "slick" fighters do that. you know the slick fighters that don't make any money nor get fights.
He isn't gifted enough to get away with that stuff. He dissapointed me last night, but I think he will improve.
