ive seen comments on the cotto weight situation. alot of people feel cotto is making a big deal out of not putting up his title for the fight at 145. and that welterweight is considered anywhere from 140 to 147. Then why cant 147 boxers fight 140 lb boxers and just make it one division with open weight? umm you cant because junior welterweight and welterweight are two seperate divisions. but all of a sudden pac fans whom are so ever confident that pac will destroy cotto are crying cause cotto doesnt agree with the situation.well if that's the case why doesnt the pound for pound king put up his 140 pound belt on the line as well. if you want to argue that its all one division. wouldnt that be fair. id like objective feedback on this. let me know what you think. i feel if one boxer has to stake his belt then they both should.:firedevil:firedevil

Nah cause it isn't at Light Welterweight...
for the crowd that doesnt know their weight classes ring magazine states 140 is junior WELTERWEIGHT. BUY ONE ITS ON PAGE 15 IN RING RATINGS
Wow, nice redemption. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_welterweight
"The light Welterweight class (also called junior welterweight or super lightweight) is a weight division in professional boxing that has a limit of 63.5 kg or 140 pounds. "
I think your right, but whoever's alt he is his thread is making me want a drink.
Gotta be Dunks homey. :theyareon His thread yesterday got me drinkin. I'd drink now if I wasn't workin Spray.
umm yes he can if its agreed in contract. Samething as miguel defending a 147 title at 145. The sanctioning body stated they would make miguel defend because 140 to 147 is considered welterweight.
Pac holds the JWW Ring belt, not a sanctioning body belt. He can't defend it above 140 lbs. Everybody on here seems to forget 147 is the WW limit, not the WW division. Cuz Cotto holds the WBO's WW belt, they ain't lettin him fight a WW fight without payin them a sanctioning fee unless he gives up the belt. 136-140 is JWW, 141-147 is WW.
umm, cuz pac holds a belt wit a weight limit of 140 lbs, i'm pretty sure he can't defend it in a ww fight. :slap:

Lol man you got to it before I could. Funny that you are the first of four other posters to catch that. Just goes to show how little people know about boxing...
So everyone knows: the welterweight division is from 141-147. 140 is the JUNIOR WELTERWEIGHT Limit (where Pac holds the lineal title).
Just because the WW div. is 141-147 doesn't mean I think Cotto's title should be on the line though. It should be on the line at the weight he won it at: 147.
i agree it should only be put on the line at 147. but since people want to insist that cotto stake it. then they both should
