That boxing is on the decline, yet EVERY fan knows what it necessary to put it right back where it was, and NOTHING is done.
All fans know there should be one world champion.
All fans know there should be less weight classes.
All fans know the sanctioning bodies suck.
All fans know the best should fight the best.
All fans know shit undercards don't help anyone.
All fans know PPV is not good for the sport.
But it never changes. Couldn't the government step in and do something like they did to steroids in baseball?
I actually like the sanctioning bodys to a point if there were only 3 it would be fine, what i dont want to see is boxing ran like the ufc that shit is borderline pro wrestling the fighters have no say in that sport and the non exciting fighters are shunned for title oppourtuinitys just like they are in boxing, honestly if there were more fighters with balls this sport would be a lot better,we need more shane mosleys, nate campbells, glen johnsons, guys that actually care about the legacy that they leave behind.
Pretty much how i see it.
Boxing needs to have an everest of a belt. Having many world titles of varying significance is a good thing IMO. A true world champion needs to have overcame many world champions to make it to the top. That idea makes the champion of the world actually mean something.
Weightclasses are a hard issue. Having so many divisions gives you a watered down feel but boxers wouldn't disagree with the freedom of weight that goes with our weightclasses. A kilo or 2 amplifys in terms of fitness and damage taken during a 12 rounder. Its fine for MMAs, thier fights over in 15 mins.

I think our government has bigger fish to fry than overseeing sanctioned violence.
I despise mma but the more popular it gets it will force the sanctioning bodys to put on good fights.
Silver lining. Competition helps thwart the disease of complacency.
This is a dark summer for boxing.
It is quite unbelievable, really. There's hardly even been a notable fight. Campbell-Bradly should be a bright spot in the summer.
Yes but right now there is a stranglehold on boxing and its not really up to any one promoter to change it.
There would have to be a massive meeting between all the promoters, big and small, to start some sort of a league.
And believe it or not, the thousands of champions per division does help the fighters. Fights that otherwise would occur off TV and for peanuts, can often squeeze onto a TV card and fight for decent money if there is a joke of a title on the line.
Its pathetic from a fans perspective that there are so many champions and so many divisions but does have some benefits.
If and When someone comes along to clean up the sport, they should be careful to keep this stuff in mind.
And Also ive been saying this for a long time, but the best thing that could happen to Boxing right now is for HBO to pull the plug, and let boxing hit rock bottom so it can slowly build itself back up the correct way.
It is the powers at be that determine these things. They make too much money out of the sport the way it is set up what with the ridiculous PPVs and sanctioning fees etc, so they won't change it, despite the fact that they know it would benefit the sport as a whole.
