On how Pacquiao could beat Cotto, they are hoping and praying he is shot and are basing Pacquiao beating Cotto on how Pacquiao looked in the Pacquiao - Hatton fight and how Cotto looked in the Cotto-Clottey fight, let me start by saying, Hatton nor Clottey has the style of Cotto or Pacquiao, respectively, Pacquiao's defense is not as great as Clottey nor does Cotto fight anything at all like Hatton, he doesn't bounce around throwing one punch at a time like Hatton does, Cotto is a combination puncher, and his handspeed is underrated, Pacquiao will use a gameplan similar to the one he used with De La Hoya, using the lateral movements, and coming in and out, let me remind you of how well Cotto cuts off the ring and how he times he's opponents with his jab, right hand and left hook combination, or other combinations he uses, Cotto has shown he can work with speed as evidenced in the Judah and Mosley fights, now Roach says that he is going to find trends in Cotto style the same as he did with Hatton, the only trend that Cotto has is that when he has his opponents hurts he lowers his hands grasps for air and then hits his opponents with anything, I doubt that when he hurts Pacquiao, Pacquiao will want to try to land something, Cotto fights each fight differently and his combinations are not repetitive hence he doesn't have any trends. A lot of people think Pac won't be able to handle any of Cotto's punches, and that is the big uncertainty in this fight. You can't just assume he can't take those punches, we don't know. Pacquiao has the speed advantage, he is a southpaw, his power has translated even as he has gone higher in weight, and Pac has been in with better boxers than Cotto and won. There's plenty of clues that point to a Pac victory.

I laugh at posters here on Boxingscene. You make me laugh. I like both fighters.. Its a shame that I have to see them fight, but I watched Cotto's whole career as of today. Mosley and Judah are fast bro... You're in denial if you think otherwise.. They have speed and power, and Cotto took some great shots from both. Talk about Cotto's defense, but you must talk about Manny's aswell. Both have flaws, and its going to be a great fight to watch. Cotto is not JMM, but Cotto can fight and will give Manny hell, just like Manny will give Cotto hell. There 's one thing that I will agree with you, this is a pick 'em fight. Since you took Cotto's side, I'll take Manny's. If I were Manny's trainer, I tell him to pick his spots, use his speed and unpredictable moves to frustrate Cotto early. Don't try to trade, and stay away from the ropes as much as possible. Since he has the faster hands, make sure all his hits won't get lost in the shuffle by staying too long in the pocket and give Cotto the chance to hit back, therby nullifying his volume of work if Cotto tags him with his heavy bombs. As the fight wears on, and I'm pretty sure these 2 boxers knows very well where they stand after each and every round, and if all that I've said went according to plan, at some point late in the fight, Cotto will get desperate and will try to catch up fast by trying to score a KD or even a KO. He will make mistakes and Manny is one of the best finisher in the business. One slip-up and next thing you know, you already got KTFO, although all these things that I said is so much easier said than done, that's why they always fight the fights...

If he can maximize his speed advantage and avoid heavy contact all nite, Pac can win. I doubt he can tho.

What I meant to say is that Manny didn't throw punches non-stop, I accidentally wrote pressure. Dynamics of boxing dictate that higher punch output comes at the expense of defense...which Pacquiao could not afford to sacrifice against the bigger guy. Therefore choosing his battles. That is not to say he wasnt pressuring dlh. If he wasnt then dlh would have charged right in and smothered Pacquiao's workrate like hatton did to malignaggi.
