He's an incredible skilled fighter. He had a bad situation happen at one point. And he's so skilled, fighters use that as a reason not to fight him. Campbell gets away with it because he's not as skilled. It's simple.
I might be inclined to agree with you, but... people who are scared to lose their 0's generally don't fight high risk low reward opponents like Barrios and Soto.
Before Barrios and Sotto. The best name in his Resume is Agapito Sanchez.
Barrios and Sotto are not low reward for Guzman at the time.
Guzman will be back in the mix next week monday there will be some major news i have a friend that inside his camp and told me what going on and i think guzman will be where he left off after the soto fight......
Joan is a bum. I like him but he is a bum. Super talented but just wont do nothing with it.
He is 30+ years old now. He can't renew his career. Not unless he goes on a "name" killing spree.

I agree, those are two potentially dangerous fighters, particularly Soto more so than Barrios. I don't blame people for not wanting to fight Soto.
Still, Guzman has maybe irreparably hurt his image within the boxing community for his behavior in the last year or so. I think he's a very good fighter who lost a golden opportunity with Campbell. Boxing has a short term memory that lives by the out-of-sight-out-of-mind mentality.
I'm guessing it's because Guzman walks around pretty heavy and taking off 30-40 pounds is a bitch you don't want to go through to fight a journeyman. He would have been fighting Yuri Romanav if it weren't for the IBF obeying the Mississippi commision suspension. If the WBO would have gave a thumbs up to the Bradley fight he would have been fighting Bradley in August.
His moms died a few weeks ago from a long bout with a disease I can't remember right now so if you want to hate on the guy for not wanting to fight you can f uck off.
Guzman is also getting a bit older now; I think he is 33 or 34 now. Damn shame he was a great fighter to watch when he was fighting down super featherweight. I'd like to see him again and see if he still has his alien reflexes/hand speed.

Well said, or don't go looking for Bradley or Juan Diaz. Guzman should face whoever, be it bum, decent or good fighter.
I would guess he's afraid of losing his 0. A lot of fighters are like that nowadays that aren't down to take chances to be great and find themselves irrelevant. Look at Floyd Jr.

I would guess money... the downfall of the ****ing sport.

I remember him, and still follow his career.
He really messed his career up with the weight problem for the Campbell fight.
But he had a chance to get it going again against Judah, but he turned that down, too.
I know Zab isn't quite the superstar he once was, and has been the pun of many boxing jokes as of late.
But he's still a recognizable name, and one that Guzman could've beaten easily.
I have no idea why he turned that down.
