I'm starting to think that Teddy Atlas sucks on purpose

What's the Ron Borges effect? He was the only reporter out of like 40-something polled before Holyfield-Tyson 1 that picked Evander. He got a lot of credit and attention for that, although he probably just chose Holyfield out of dislike for Tyson rather than actually looking at tactics and styles and all that. The guy actually wrote an article later on stating that Tyson was never the top heavyweight out there. Not post-prison or anything, but EVER.

He had no success as a boxing trainer except for one fight with Michael Moorer, who succeeded DESPITE Atlas, not because of him. He didn't do Michael Grant or the others no good. Steward succeeded with Wladimir, a heavyweight with natural advantages but not the greatest chin, but Atlas failed with Michael Grant. Teddy Atlas is quite possibly the most overrated trainer of all-time. He supposedly willed Moorer to victory against Holyfield because he gave inspirational speeches in the corner (another Legendary Night Myth I can add to the list;)) but Moorer didn't even listen to Atlas anyway. Watch the fight in full and you'll see Moorer sleep-walk even more after Atlas pleaded with him. Of course, Moorer showed a lot of heart in fights before Atlas (Cooper), and later on with Roach (Holyfield 2), but with Atlas he never listened and fought with the passion of someone watching paint dry. Atlas didn't do much for other fighters like Grant and Briggs either. Atlas did however, do a great job of matching Elvir Muriqi up with terribly underqualified opponents, while he publicly denounced mismatches on ESPN and talked about how they were so bad for boxing and evidence that boxing needs a national commission.

He tends to almost always pick the underdog. I think he picks more on who he wants to win than anything else. He obviously doesn't like Wlad the Klit, and so what. Other than that he does a pretty good job commentating, although some times he can be pretty annoying. Cosign homey.

He's pretty consistent on picking winners for the main events of friday night fights. I have no clue how he can be so consitent with those but be so consistently wrong on picking winners for big fights. could be in small fight he is not as bias as in big fights.

Teddy might have said F u c k it a few years ago and just tried to purposely pick the losers. I bet they all give him shit over at ESPN about it. Brian Kenny probably has a difficult time keeping his face straight after, "Teddy, who do you like in this fight?" Why do you think Brian Kenny's face looks purple after Teddy is done giving his analysis. It aint your TV.
