Lacy is the classic example I suppose.
We all kind of knew Pavlik had limitations but I think he was being overestimated (and Hopkins underestimated) prior to the schooling
-pavlik gettin' taken to school by b-hop
-prince nassim getting beat to shit by barrera
-JMM exposed a way to beat Pacquaio
-mosley beatin the livin crap out of margo
-oscar easily outboxing tito
-Ali showing how to beat foreman
-lacy getting smacked around by calzaghe lol
-angulo gettin outboxed by cintron lmao
the list is endless.
And Pavliks only loss is to the number three P4P fighter in the world?
Not to mention that Pavlik had to go up in weight to fight the thug. hatton had to go nowhere and was badly exposed by Manny who has been all over the weight classes. hatton looked like a plodding idiot. He clearly thought he was a p4p contender when he was barely a contender at all. Fighting bums and overaged Talent gets you props, but it does not impart real skill or experience the way a legitimate competitor would do. All hatton learned how to do is dodge real fighters and pad his purse. Rocky III comes to mind.
Didn't we already know what Pavlik was ? a one dimmensional 1 2 robot. The only reason most did not pick Hopkins to win was because of how poor his workrate was against Calzaghe, it was still a shock but not that much.
i view exposed as having your weakness or flaws shown on a grand stage, when prior they were not easily obvious, and it is a huge credit to hopkins... him and Nasim have come up with some masterful gameplans over the years....
but thats what it is... his gameplan exposed kelly's one dimensional style and exposed the fact that if you can counter a guy who doesnt do much more than double/triple jab, right hand combos.. then you can beat him....
but you guys both arent wrong, i guess i just view "exposed" a little differently!
Any one with half a brain could see Pavlik as one dimensional before the Hopkins fight, it was Bernards age that was the main concern for most people. They questioned if the young active fighter would outwork an aging vet. Naseem and Hopkins came out with the right plan and executed it to perfection. It is not easy to beat Pavlik don't let a master boxer like Hopkins fool you. I just can't see how anyone can be exposed by such highly ranked fighter. It doesn't make sense.
i think Pavlik more than Hatton or Khan... but yeah Lacy bigtime too
I wouldn't say Pavlik. I mean if you think he was exposed then Calz was exposed to because he aint land shit solid against Hopkins.
Pavlik got schooled by Hopkins but not exposed because who the hell else can do what Hopkins does? So Pavlik was schooled no exposed.
Now Jermaine Taylor was exposed. People will now just try and take him into deep water since he has been shown to fade badly.
He was also out of his weight class and reportedly ill before the fight. We knew Pavlik was sort of one dimensional before the Hopkins fight, he just could not overcome his deficiencies that time around.
You people have the wrong idea of what exposed in this sport even means. Exposed is someone who has fought nothing but tomato cans, then as soon as they step up get beaten by someone that was supposed to be spoon fed to them. That is exposed.
Hatton and Pavlik just met up with ring masters. No shame in that.
Khan just got his chin busted, but I would not call him exposed just yet. If he goes nowhere beyond his current status you might call it exposed.
Lacy was sort of exposed because he also ran into a ring master, but also struggled with fighters he was supposed to beat afterward. That also though could be due to injury etc.
Agree deanrw but i got sensationalize my thread title :fing02:
Prince Naseem is definitely up there. I never expected to see him get dealt with in such a commanding way. It was like watching Margarito without his plaster.
Does Margs count as being exposed by Shugs? I think to a certain extent it does, especially since he was being hyped as someone with a granite chin and an unbreakable resolve - and then gets whupped on by an old man without winning a round. Couple that with the plaster, and I reckon it's all worthy of being labelled as an exposure.
But then, deanrw's post makes a lot of sense too. I guess it's just the way you look at a loss.

Exactly.
Green K
yeah but considering Hattons only two losses were to the #1 p4p fighter on fight night, im not calling that "exposed"
Pavlik, however was humiliated by Hopkins and exposed for being one dimensional....
IMHO
