there are some users who get it, they are pretty much unbiased, understand how to score boxing rounds, what counts what doesnt and more importantly a real boxing fan understands the fact that these guys are human beings and as a fight unfolds what happens in the ring affects each fighter and their performance. I am saying this to make a specific point: two guys fought a very gutsy tough fight last night, had Cotto not been horribly cut that fight would have been completely different. Not saying Cotto blows Clottey out but he would have been more aggressive, not have eaten so many rights and punches he could have seen and had more energy. That said many of these people need to accept that fact. Understand that is a dynamic of boxing and understand that Clottey couldn't or didnt make the decsion to recognize the situation and step it up to take Cotto out. Atlas nailed it in his statements he gets it other people need to learn form his outlook.

cosign this post.
He would have done better but it still would have been an incredibly close fight. I don't think you can say Cotto would have won going away had he not suffered the cut. It was a nasty, debilitating cut, but Clottey was giving Cotto the business anyway.
He was, but the way Cotto was getting into Clottey's armor was making me believe Cotto would of won a more comfortable decision.
So Cotto would of not fought better if he didn't have the cut?
are you serious?

I agree with everything but the bold. You have to judge rounds on what is going on, not on what happened the last round. You sound like you are having sympathy for Cotto because of his cut, and to be unbiased, you can't have sympathy you have to be realistic about each and every round.

Yeah I think it still would have been a very close fight even if Cotto didn't suffer the cut. Clottey was fighting well enough before it and I think he would have kept it up throughout. The outcome wouldn't have been DRASTICALLY different in my opinion.
Good post though freedom. I think there are a handful of people who are right in the middle and can accurately describe what they watched last night. People who are respectful and can give credit where it's due. Unfortunately you have some who call professional fighters bitches and talk about losing respect for them when they are completely insignificant anyway. Some said that about Clottey for the butt, some about Cotto for shrugging off Clottey. I agree w/ what you said though good stuff.

not really. clottey didn't even take advantage of the cut by jabbing at it or throwing more right hands.
Not saying Cotto blows Clottey out but he would have been more aggressive,
nah, cotto fights the same way everytime.
not have eaten so many rights
nah, if you look at the punchzone stats, clottey threw more punches to the right side of cotto's head and to cotto chin than he did to the left side of cotto face which had the cut.
and punches he could have seen
nah, he a sucker for the uppercut
and had more energy.
nah, cotto gases

I gotta agree. if clottey can't take out a basically one-eyed opponent, he ain't doing shiit right.

atlas was right about clottey giving away the 12th and expecting a decision in MSG on PR Parade day. COME ON!!

Good post. The amount of crap told, the fact that pretty much everyone is biased and the huge amount of spam (10 topics saying exactly the same) are the reasons I rarely visit this forum.

Great post I agree
Agreed, hardly anyone looks from a non biased point of view...
And of course the cut effected him, it would have effected anyone...it still would have been a close fight...but after the 9th round i said.."This is clotteys to lose" and i dont think he did enough to win...when im sure he looked like he had enough stamina to go and win each round from then on...Guess u have to take ur chances!

I agree with you and I agree with Teddy Atlas.
