Whoever wins between these two will own the WBA/IBF/WBO/Ring Title. Is that enough to call the winner the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world?
Wlad beats Chagaev and gets 50% of WBA belt.
Vit beats Valuev and gets the other 50% of WBA belt.
Trouble is, I don't think the simple math will apply. Chagaev doesn't literally hold half the title, he is the co-champion (as a result of all that champion-in-recess bollocks) which is not the same thing. The unfinished business is between him and Valuev for the right to both hold the belt and put it on the line against another fighter. It will be down to the WBA ultimately, of course, but I doubt they'll sanction the fight on that logic. Wlad having 'half' the title would make it even messier for the WBA than it is now. Far more likely that they will strip either Chagaev or Valuev, depending on their verdict on the Helsinki fiasco.

SORRY but everyone of you guys will credit any other Ring Champ as the man..
The good thing is.. is that BOXING will consider him the man..
and that is good enough for me..
If Wladimir is not Crowned the Undisputed champ if he beats Chagaev.. people are just being ridiculous..
3 of the belts and the RING belt?? any other fighter would be called the "MAN"..Some people just can't credit Wladimir no matter what he does.. :dunno:
Wlad still wont be undisputed. Plus theres no gaurantee that the WBA belt will be on the line, Valuev owns half of that belt and theres bound to be legal action by Don King to prevent the belt being on the line after chagaev was ruled mediacally unfit to fight valuev for it.
Wlad wouldn't be undisputed if he won. He'd be lineal tho.
No, he wouldnt be lineal either. Lewis was the lineal champ and the line from Lewis runs to Vitali Klitschko through the WBC belt. All the other belts result from paper championship eliminaters for vacant titles while Lewis was still The champ. The one true championship retired by Lewis is held by Vitali, he is as close to lineal that we have right now.
Ruiz that then got beat by Valuev ,who then got beat by Chagaev, and also beaten by Chagaev himself? Looks like the winner of this would get that as well.
Just talking about what was in early 04. Vitali is a better fighter than a lot of guys, but his record only started to become worth note in his last few fights.
There's a hell of a case that his last two wins are the best of his whole career. He didn't belong in the #1 spot yet after the Lewis loss and a win over a whale-ish Johnson. Ring was reaching and took so much ish for that sanction they started their advisory ratings so they could poll before making 1-3 sanctions.
Lewis was. Vitali got jock rode into the number one contenders spot without ever beating a Ring rated top ten contender before Sanders (unless Herbie Hide YEARS earlier was...I have to look that up). By all rights, off the Rahman and Oquendo WINS, sick as it makes me, even with the Jones loss, Ruiz had a better claim to the number one spot than anyone in early 04.

So who was the last Lineal Champion? Vitali or Lewis? Didn't Vitali win the Ring Belt by beating Corey Sanders?

linear=ring belt
or the man who beat the man who beat the man
Lineal sometimes = Ring; sometimes it does not.
See Ring's ridiculous, stubborn refusal to call a my bad at 112.

Yes. If Wlad wins, that's 11 in a row and he's all but cleaned out class. If Chag wins he almost certainly ends up with Vit sooner than later so then the only remaining issue is shored up and he can just enter reigning.
This fight is the best place to renew divisional lineage since Lewis retired.
and NO, Vit's Ring title in 04-05 does not count. Joke.

They won't 'own' the WBA belt. Chagaev only holds half of it, and that isn't his to give away.
Dunno. The Ring title speaks for itself, but it would still seem odd that Wlad was 'undisputed' when Vitali, who most people think is as good if not better, holds the WBC title.
yes wlad would be linear and undisputed..who would dispute hes the man now????
Logically, Wlad would be undisputed. He already is at this point. But as a matter of official record, if he ain't got the WBC belt wit all the others, he wouldn't be undisputed.
Well it would be the same number of belts that Tyson, Holyfield and Lewis had, swap out the WBC for the WBA, when people called them Undisputed.
Lineal + Ring Magazine + 3 of the 4 major belts = Undisputed in my book.
