It’s all up to Manny Pacquiao to choose his next opponent, Top Rank head Bob Arum said Wednesday.
Arum has penciled Pacquiao to fight on Oct. 17 possibly against Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico but the Hall of Fame promoter stressed that it would still be the Filipino pound-for-pound king who will make the final call.
Cotto is fighting Joshua Clottey of Ghana on June 13 in New York and Pacquiao will be there to size him up.
Arum said the ball is in Pacquiao’s hands and he will not object if the boxer opts to wait until the July 18 bout between Floyd Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez fight is over.
If Pacquiao delays his decision to identify his next foe, Arum said he will likely move the fight to November since there has to be enough time to prepare and promote such a fight if it is held originally in October.
Arum said that while Shane Mosley has shown tremendous interest in securing a Pacquiao fight, the reigning World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion doesn’t have a strong following unlike Cotto.
Cotto, who has an enormous following in New York, where a large concentration of Puerto Ricans resides, is a tested pay-per-view attraction, unlike Mosley.
Mosley has been everywhere lately, almost begging Pacquiao to pick him as his next rival.
The 37-year-old native of Pomona, California, said he is amenable to certain conditions like dropping to as light as 144 lbs.
If ever Pacquiao fights Mosley, Mayweather or Cotto, he wants a catch weight of 143 lbs since he says he is not a legitimate welterweight (147-pounder). Pacquiao flattened Ricky Hatton at 140 lbs last May 2 in Las Vegas.
arum definitely presents his fighters w/ a list from which to choose from.
that said. I don't think cotto that big a ppv star. mosley's been on more ppvs than mosley right?
I think Mosley and Mosley have been on an equal number of ppv's. lolol

ok, after this im pretty sure pac-shane fight is not really happening and Pac by saying hes willing to fight Shane, hes just using tactics to make Floyd lower his expectations.
What Arum wants :
Pac-Mosley
Cotto-FMJ
both winner fights
If Cotto has a decisive win on June 13th you better believe FMJ wouldn't want no part of Cotto, so forget that!
What Arum wants :
Pac-Mosley
Cotto-FMJ
both winner fights
No he doesnt, because if both Mosley and FMJ won, then Bob would be frozen out of the big payday because both Mosley and FMJ are with Golden Boy.
Bob wants Pac-Cotto (Bob has both sides), and then the winner vs. Floyd.
Bob would also be willing to make Pac- Valero in the meantime, since he has both sides there as well.......
Did that guy really say Shane Mosley doesnt have a following like Cotto??? I've been to Pomona and Mosley is huge from Pomona all the way to downtown LA which is an hour drive away.
imho if arum could not make PAC-Cotto they will wait for the winner of PBF/JMM if they could make the cotto fight its win win situation for Arum ...
Pac & PBF wins we know what we will get...
Cotto & PBF wins at the least we will get PAC-JMM 3...
if JMM beats PBF, Arum can offer winner of PAC/Cotto...
It's a win for the fans too. Pacman can't give us that 142 limit sh!t.

I rememeber it wasnt that long ago that Shane was at 154 and saying how he just cant get down to WW anymore no matter what he does. Now he's going to fight Pac at 44?
The biggest thing that stuck out to me in this article is something that I always bring up that Bob Arum always says. He always says that it takes a long time to promote a PPV fight. Thats what I keep trying to tell people about Floyd-JMM. Arum even says himself that he cant do a PPV that soon so you have to give Floyd some slack for them having to rush a PPV event. That will certainly hurt his buys
I keep hearing all this Shane called out Floyd and Floyd is ducking him.
Well here's the real question:
Who wins at 147- Shane Mosley Vs Floyd Mayweather?
Arum is saying this but I bet he's pushing Pac to take the Cotto fight.
Yeah, you didn't hear what he said?

Pacquiao will be in NY and see what Cotto is all about and make his desicion.
I think it would be a huge mistake for Arum to allow anyone else fight the Pac if it's not Cotto. Cotto will tell Arum to kiss his ass goodbye!

Surely Arum will wait to see if Cotto beats Clottey before he decides the next fight for Pac. Pac will probably fight whoever, so Arum ain't lettin him decide shit.
lol, passing the buck...
Pac and Cotto always say their next fight is up to their promoter--Arum.
Now Arum is saying this...it never ends.
lol, at Mosley following Pacman around and begging him to pick'em.
