I made a thread a while back where I made a boxing card that would be the equivalent to a UFC card just to give the ppl who don't know much about mma a perspective of just how impressive the UFC cards really are and why UFC is the fastest growing sport in the world.
Well since UFC 100 is coming up and this is probably one of the most impressive cards ever, I just thought it would make sense to do this thread again to remind ppl of why UFC is doing so well. so here goes...
UFC - Boxing
Lesnar-Mir = Wladimir Klitschko - Vitali Klitschko
GSP-Alves = Mikkael Kessler - Lucien Bute
Fitch-Thiago = Librado Andrade - Carl Froch
Henderson-Bisping = Bernard Hopkins - Zsolt Erdei
And the rest of the undercard is not all that bad either. there is a spectacular unbeaten prospect in Jon Jones who can almost be compared to a David Haye in boxing.
This is why UFC is doing so well and will continue to do so well. Boxing is the better sport, but the way the UFC is being run in such an organized fashion, I have to believe that the overtaking of boxing in the ppv numbers is only inevitable.
The only reason why UFC can stack there cards is because they pay their fighter shit. If the main event fighter's were getting the same pay as main event boxer's then there cards wouldn't be as stacked.
And F**k Dayna White for saying that Boxing is dieing out. If that were true then along with it would be Mui Tai, Kick Boxing, Jui-Jitsu, Wrestling and all other forms of Martial Arts. It can't possibley die out because all those things are the foundation for MMA period.
MMA is not a specific sport as Boxing or Jui-Jitsu, it's all those things combined into one that makes it MMA. MMA will never ever replace any of those, it's just all little more popular and main stream but that's it.
Think of Boxing, Jui-Jitsu and the other Martial Arts as the fundamentals of MMA. Without it, UFC is just street fights on PPV.
Hardcore boxing fans will always bring out salaries of top boxers for comparsion whenever there is a mention of MMA.
I love love sports, both have their share of boring and exciting matches. The thing is that MMA is much closer to a real fight, which will not look pretty and "sweet science like".
Boxing has been around for like a century, no doubt the money is bigger but money is not everything when comparing which is more popular.
Back to the thread......the point is that boxing PPVs should put more than just one match with superstars. Peace
im a fan of both mma and boxing. but UFC 100 does not interest me much. but i agree that boxing can make some adjustments to make the sport better. on the other hand, UFC needs more improvements to be able to "Take over" boxing. its still far from what boxing has done. i like the old school MMA better. Pride is the BOMB. i kinda lost interest in UFC to be honest. MMA needs more matches to know whos the best in the WORLD, not just UFC. thats what i love about boxing. anyone can fight anyone. f*ck popularity. watch whatever sport you like. you dont need to follow which is more popular.
The boxing equivalent to the UFC card would be a bunch of gay boxers tickling each other on Friday night sissy fights.
In the end it's all about money.
UFC vs. Boxing? The whole argument about which is better. On entertainment, ppv buys, which is more skilled...etc etc.
When I think about that argument I think about how fanboys love to square up Xbox v. PS3 v. Nintendo. Who cares? I have all of them haha.
As long as all the UFC fighters are contracted by one person there will never be fights like Ali-Fraziers,Leonard-Hearns,Hagler-Hearns or even the DLH-Mayweathers...You get the point.
Promoting hyping the fight is what makes sales so high and if UFC has scheduled PPV fights like idk once a month that doesnt help either.
On the matter of which is more exciting MMA or Boxing in the end that's all opinion anyways.
Personally, I liked UFC when there was no weight divisions or mitts haha. UFC 1 and 2 were awesome.
MMGay is a joke compaired to boxing. little punks try to tell me at my gym that is both for boxing and mmgay that mmgay is more popular. all i have to ask is how much did the hghest paied mmgay fighter make last year. how much did the highest paied boxer make last year. now tell me which is more popular. the defence rests.......
watched ufc 98 my first ever ufc and its reminded me of wwe.....was always hearing fukin bud lite being sponsered i was like wtf if your guna have a beer sponsor at least get a real beer. few of the matches were like shite boxing matches and the rest were abit boring tbh i couldnt tell the difference between the top fighters and the bad ones. It just looked like un-skilled people off the street fighting maybe that was due to poor striking abilities compared to boxer i duno but was a let down and never watching one again.
UFC - Boxing
Lesnar-Mir = Wladimir Klitschko - Vitali Klitschko
GSP-Alves = Mikkael Kessler - Lucien Bute
Fitch-Thiago = Librado Andrade - Carl Froch
Henderson-Bisping = Bernard Hopkins - Zsolt Erdei
You've got to be kidding me. If you're referring to starpower and significance to the division....you've got it all wrong.
GSp-Alves would be the equivalent of Mosley-Berto
Fitch-Thiago would be the equivalent of Holt-Bradley
Henderson-Bisping would be the equivalent of Pavlik-Lockett
This guy is basically saying the boxing needs to organise itself better, and put on better fight cards. I agree.
I would love to see Hopkins, Mayweather, Pacquaio, Froch, and Haye fight on the same card. In relative terms, UFC does that almost every card.

is lesnar-mir really the equivalent of wlad and vitali fightin each other?(i have no idea who mir is)
and you know what? pacquiao mayweather would single handedly own all those fights in terms of hype, popularity and entertainment
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....margarita.
Who the **** stated that Affliction is "more popular" than the UFC®? Can you directly quote when I stated that, outside of the instance above to ask you about the misdirect? I never once said that Affliction was more popular than the UFC®. I never implied it. The goddamn discussion was regarding SALARIES. Do you know what a salary is? Do you know that someone in this very thread, listed UFC® salary figures, with the addendum "most popular MMA company" thereby implying that no other MMA company pays as much as the UFC®? Is that something you can comprehend or do I need to make graphs/charts? It is a fact that this point is baseless, considering that there are organisations that compensate their employees disclosed salaries ABOVE that which ZUFFA, LLC. does. Again, is that something you can comprehend? If you can't, I understand. I just saw a really interesting article on what happens to autistic children when they grow up. SORRY NO WAY any UFC event could sell 100k tickets C'MON MAN! I'm telling you right now UFC is exploiting there fan base with a PPV every month, eventually the casual fans will get sick of it and it will fade into obscurity. Kickboxing,Karate,WWF and now MMA all were supposed to kill or surpass Boxing and it never did AND IT NEVER WILL. You can't erase over a 100 years of history in a few years.
I Luv the line "Fastest growing sport". What other sport could you compare it to say it is the fastest growing sport? MMA if it was so popular these MMA fighters would be able to headline a PPV by themselves and get paid instead they get paid peanuts to fight for the UFC. Affliction,Bodog,IFL,Pride,Elitex/c all have folded or about to so how could you say MMA is thriving? Worldwide MMA is NO WHERE NEAR Boxing. Haye-Klit by themselves will have 60K in Germany name 1 MMA fight by themselves any where in the world that could sell 60K tickets. Hatton-PBF and Hatton-Pac between the U.K. and U.S. did combined over 2 million PPV for each fight. Could a UFC card attract 2 million PPV buys with UK AND US NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Please stop with it's gonna take over Boxing or surpass it. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.
UFC 100 is very capable of selling 100k tickets.
and affliction, bodog, ifl, pride, elitexc are not examples for mma. you have to understand that those are just minor independant organizations. boxing has hundreds of little independent promotions every year and a lot of them succed and a lot of them fail as well. but you can't look to them as an example for all of boxing just as you can't look those minor mma organizations as an example for all of mma.
UFC is a juggernaut all its own. If you look at the success and failure of mma, you have to look at UFC and UFC alone. That is the defining organization for all of the mma world. Dream might have something to say about that but lets face it, 99% of mma fighters dream to fight in the UFC and not in Dream(no pun intended).

a. Show any fallacies and prove them wrong; and
b. How do you know so much about Mixed Martial Arts when you don't know shit about Mixed Martial Arts? The discussion is over SALARY, and you mention the opinion that the UFC® is the "most popular MMA company", and yet there is a promotion that far out-compensates their fighters . Please let me know how this isn't germane to the ridiculous paradigm you attempt, quite feebly, I might add, to establish?
E
so you think affliction is more popular than the UFC? lol. affliction is like the NABO title and UFC is like the ring title. not even comparable.
what are you going to pull up anyway? the salaries. is that gonna be your proof of popularity? lol. if donald trump throwing his pocket change at fighters is proof of popularity than I guess you are right.
once again, move on. you have issues.

Alright, this thread is very stupid on several accounts.
a) This is not "one of the most impressive cards ever". NO ****ING WAY. Have you ever heard of PrideFC®? Have you ever watched a single goddamn NYE event in your entire life? If you think 100 is one of the most impressive cards ever, then you don't know shit about the sport; and
b) Affliction pays their fighters more disclosed salaries than ZUFFA, LLC. So, Kevin fictionalcultcharacter's point that the UFC® is the "most popular MMA company" is baseless. Without merit. POINTLESS.
E
lol. what a senseless post full of so much fiction and hate.
Ok so you don't like this thread, move on.
