He's not a throwback, he's a journeyman!
Not really. he hasn't won in twelve years and probably has no intention of doing so. He's ballooned up and will give people good experince for their debut. Have you heard of Peter Buckley? he fought for a WBO Intercontinental title once but then became a journeyman because ti was more lucrative. I saw one of his fights and he was having a walk in the park despite throwing no punches and next man could not land even one clean punch! If he wanted to win he could, but then he would lose his job as a pro journeyman and get no more calls from promoters
200 fights is throwback any way u slice the cake
He fought on nearly every main undercard many years ago and no, he is not a CW. He is actually a pretty small guy. Just obviously coming to the end and doesn't really train anymore. He was not too bad though. He had a few little slick moves that probably came about from just fighting so much.
you can change your name all you want but insightful posts like this has Manchine written all over it...thanks for the 411 drop
guys like him are the reason i visit this place.
With a little research, either this dude appears to be real, or people went to insane lengths to fake his existance, including sneaking him on to chavez and margarito's record. apparently he was also somehow involved in the FBI investigation about Arum fixing fights
i think the guy is real.. i can see why poeple may doubt it cuz of the wieght class jumps but the guy wanted to fight all the time

he doesnt exist, it says he's a crusierwieght.
and he has julio ceasar chavez jr, and antonio margerito on his record, and KNOWONE'S heard of him.'
he doesnt exist.
who is that a picture of with the "I'm going to hurt you" quote?
I'm surprised no one has heard of him. He was shown fairly regularly in the 90's with his best win being probably over Kirkland Laing, a comeback stoppage in the seventh round. Laing, as usual, was able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory against an inferior opponent.
Buck Smith was not a very good boxer but he obviously liked fighting and made money fighting almost every week. In the mid 90's it wasn't all that rare to see fights go the distance with no decision announced. I remember Rob Calloway, another very active fighter, explaining his early no decisions this way, only a stoppage would count. This made it less risky for promoters to put their fighters against one another on a short notice.
Smith started as a welterweight but these days he fights at a bloated 190 lbs and hasn't won a fight in years.
Julio Cesar Chavez, Antonio Margarito, Mark Breland, James McGirt, Kirkland Laing and Rob Calloway are among his most notable opponents.
here's a video of youtube apparently of buck smith

Nice way to kick off a career though if you won.
lol.
When they calculate your opponents win/losses record you'd be flying. That record would buy you 15 complete bums before you looked bad statistically.
lol yeah good point.
damn....179-20

wow, why havent we heard of this guy, and i just spent the las 10min. reading his resume, apparently he's a crusierwieght who has fought antonio margerito, and julio ceasar chavez jr., and his name is buck smith.
why am i getting the feeling this person doesnt even exist.
The guy has been matched against a fair few Pro Debut fighters.
Whatever promoter or trainer would put their debut fighter in with a boxer with 150+ fights is a joke.
